Let us know what you want to see in Spondoolies-Tech's firmware… We are open to suggestions! What do you want to see implemented in our next firmware releases? We want to hear from you

Others have made some good suggestions, I have a simple request ... that a miner doesn't forget it's timezone. Too many of my miners from SP10/30/20 randomly revert back to the year 2000 after a restart. It's a hit and miss affair to get them to time warp to 2015.

I've seen others make comments about this, no idea why it happens, but when it does it screws the graphs up.

Thanks for asking.

It happens if the miner can't reach the pool.ntp.org server to set its time.

I'd like more manual control, I don't want my miner to talk to an outside NTP Server if I have my own on the network.  I want to turn SSH off unless I need to use it etc. Back to time maybe even be able to manuallys set the time from the GUI

Personal text my ass....
I logged into my SP10 tonight and on the settings page it indicates "over-clocking (socket voltage: 217)". Does anyone know why that's there? I never made any changes to it. I just clicked on turbo fans and that was it. I never made any modifications or anything.

Here are my voltage numbers if this means anything.

Fan Speed 80
Start volts top .664
Start volts bottom .664
Max voltage .75
Max power consumption 1260
DC2DC limit 62

you should underclock that miner, my SP10's all run at no more than 840w each and avg ~1.2TH/s each.
far more profitable.

They cannot be ran at home...they are co-located which adds a cost. The noise/heat alone they produce is profound and wouldn't even consider running them in my home. Even the SP20, still to loud for my tastes. I like my peace and quiet when I come home from work.

Considering bitcoin is $178 right now I'm just going to unplug them. They are costing more to run now. What really sucks is I shelled out $3000 ($2988) for each of them and they only ran for 7 months. Damn, I miss the days where you could setup 20 video cards and run them for over a year. Lots of people are probably losing money, doesn't seem like bitcoin is going to pump back up anytime soon, but just lower. What happens if it tanks to like $50? How can these large data centers keep running? Manufacture's have to have low ball prices if they want to sell anything I would imagine, unless the buyer has so much money they don't care losing some everyday.

Price I cant argue it hurts miners for sure.

On can't run them at home would disagree.  You just need to have room for them.  Most miners are not something you would want in your living room.  I highlly suggest setting up area for miners if you have the room.

Dude, I had my SP10 running in my garage when I first got it and I still heard it throughout the entire house. They have that high pitch whine that my ears pick up like a dog and drove me crazy. Maybe some people can handle it, but I could not.

Quick question: on the SP31's I seem to have issues with the bottom psu's having the orange/red light errors, and half the box stops hashing.

I have over 30 SP units, 30's 31's 35's and only the SP31's seem to do this. and its always the bottom psu...

any suggestions?

Try replacing PSU with other unit see if problem follows PSU.
I would think that lowering watt limit and start ASIC voltage on that specific PSU should solve the problem.

...
please elaborate a bit, i totally missed this westhash/nicehash/paycoin opportunity

Edgar,
You don't follow our thread closely enough ...

Edit: In the first few days, the return was 30X over BTC, afterwards 9X and it settled at about 3X up until the end of the POW period

I think that this is a slight exaggeration: maybe 10 fold first (for 48hr), then 3-4x for three days or so and back close to par on saturday (end of the POW period). Maybe it was 30X for a few hours, i did not get that.

However, as a result, we empowered garza and his paycoin nonsense AND bitcoin declined more then 50%. this is how the timeline looks like. i know that this does not prove a casual link, but it is at least possible. If you think that this was not in any way influenced by paycoin-I say-we don't know it yet. It certainly gave garza ammunition to tout paycoin and argue against bitcoin.

Seems Sp 20 prices dropped yet again, another $100 drop per unit and maybe i'll bite  Smiley

sp31 and 35 price drops as well.

They still take way too long to break in in the current market 300 or so days

I bought 2 from the "holiday group buy" for 500$ each, now the mini farm is 1200$ for 3 units ... wish i had waited for that deal. I never made 100$ us by unit in 2 weeks ...

yup I feel the same, It seems the golden rule to roi on hardware these days, is to never buy until several rounds of price drops otherwise you gonna get burn simply  Grin . I feel double burnt since I also bought a unit from their special for Black Friday at 695 plus shipping I believe.

Well that's a shame for Spondoolies-tech in my humble opinion because WE are the customer and we feel we got burnt. Next time, i might not buying from them ...

I didn't make calculations but let's say I made 100$ (which is highly not probable). I lost 100$ just because i didn't wait 2 more weeks. If i would order today, i would get my unit in like 3 days. and i got 3 units instead of 2 for 200$.

Youre kidding right ? If you want any home mining hardware right now SP-TECH has the best priced miners yeah the s5 is out there but right now with the current price adjustment the Sp20 is a better deal.

Prices were bound to go down with this latested drop in BTC otherwise SP-TECH would not be able to move ANY units.  Don't blame SP-TECH blame the econmics of BTC/FIAT fluctuations.

Personally I still wont buy anything other than the 15 peice mini farm but I won;t buy it till it drops to around 4500 other than that I would rather buy BTC which is what I am doing now.

Its better to buy BTC at current prices than buy hardware unless you have sub .08cents power.

My only complains is a huge price drop in a matter of two weeks. You're right since the BTC dropped not much they can do if they want to keep selling. This is still letting me with the same feeling ;-)

I only bought two units ...

I have a sub 0.08 cents power ;-)
If you have sub .08 cents power you should be averanging down on your hardware cost then by buying more units. I pay .11- .12 cents for my power and its bascially
unfeasible for me to keep mining but i still do it at nearly a loss

I have around 7TH that is downclocked now to 5.4 TH and i just about break even.  I won't buy any hardware unless it can pay for itself in 3  - 4 months and currently there is nothing out there that will do that unless BTC jumps back to $350ish with my power costs.

I guarantee you if I had power that cheap I would be buying the 15 pack right now rather than BTC.

Well my electricity is limited and i couldn't run 3 more units at my home unless I add 20 more amp (or 40) to my farm. My girlfriend would also probably kill me Tongue

The electricity price is like a investment for me and since i don't consume that much. I don't really care about it.

If you bought with BTC, you probably came out ahead. Likely if BTC was at $400 the price wouldn't have dropped.

Very good point, maybe I should have bought in BTC then bought BTC at 160$.

But since I want to keep my BTC, I bought in dollar.

Wish i knew right !! Cheesy

The problem is that you can't predict when and how much BTC gonna drop or rise? if you can figure this out then IMHO you are far better off trading coins than mining them  Cheesy (insane profits)
