Bought two SP20, very happy with them !

I run the fan speed at 20% on both units. The problem is => I have one of the unit that is having a "Resonating Wave" sound at 20% speed. I know it's bad luck. Is anyone else experimented the same thing with a unit ? It's like going on a medium-high pitch every 2 second or so ... "wouuuuuuuuuuuuangggggg ....... wouuuuuuuuuuuuuuang" (<= hahahah nice try isn't Tongue)

I tried to use foam just to try to block the wave with no luck.

I can ALMOST get rid of it if i play with my hand and the airflow.

I guess if i could run it at 21% or 22% i might get rid of it.

This is soooooooooo unlucky Tongue

Thanks  !

Watch out for the "Neg-Rep-Dogie-Police".....
Thanks again everyone for the suggestions - but I tried absolutely everything suggested. I've now completed an SD Recovery on both units and they are again working as before. It really is the strangest thing - but I'm happy I got them back. I could understand if it happened to just the one, but both? Strange stuff.

I'll think twice before switching them off again though...... Cheesy

I throw this out there, did you just try a computer and a switch connected to them? You know just configure the NIC on the computer to see if you can get them on a standalone situation. Interested to find out what happened.

When I switch off my SP20, they come back in 5-10 min. First time I thought that they went dead too. Did you wait that long?

Yeah, they've been on for about 80 minutes now......

Are you able to see them on "http://myminer.io/" ?  If working properly they should nicely be showing there. If truly nothing finds them there is always recovery through SD image.

Nope - nothing.....

Well, thanks for the suggestions guys, it's appreciated - but I've resigned myself to the fact that I've got to do a SD recovery on them I'm afraid  Sad

Wish I knew what caused it though...... Huh

can you ping them?
can you SSH to them?

I had basically the same problem with all 4 of mine. For some reason they didn't like my DHCP server (Sonicwall NSA 2400) using the 10. network config. I had to plug them into a cheap netgear cable modem and then log into them and then static them a 10. address. If you know the mac you could try to arp it with the -s command and set your ip and then see if you could reach it.

What else got turned off as a result of the electrical work? Any chance that the DHCP server got messed up in some way, and the SP20's now have a conflicting IP address with something else? Depending on how difficult it is to power off other stuff and your DHCP server, you might might be able to narrow the problem by getting it down to only the DNCH box and the SP20's. I know that IP conflicts can be a real bitch to debug.

Another idea. Remove the config from the DHCP server that tries to assign them a specific IP address. Hard reboot the SP20's, and see if they won't get some IP address that is on your network. In other words don't try and make them the way you want right out of the box. Instead, see if you can't get them back on your network and visible agqain. You might also want to try all this rebooting and such with just 1 SP20 for debugging purposes. Add the 2nd one once you get one visible and kinda working.

Best of luck.

The last silly suggestion: ethernet connectors. Ethernet jacks on my machines do not "click in" well and cables keep getting loose.

Suggestion to Spondoolies: it just doesn't feel right to switch off machine that is hashing hard by throwing the PSU switch off. Do we switch computers off by yanking power cord-not typically, I would think. What would be a milder procedure to switch off SP20? Would stopping CGminer first in software before throwing the PSU switch be possibly better? Some kind of shutdown command would be nice to have. Maybe it is already there? thanks.

No & No. Nada.

If you have an FTDI cable, do you get anything out UART0?

No, I don't I'm afraid. Thanks though MrTeal.

I'm doing a recovery on the first one now, will keep ya'll informed.  Wink

If you don't mind sharing, what settings did you end up using for your SP35? Start/max voltage, fan speed, PSU power limits ... and what does your unit read as its input voltage?
6TH seems abnormal for an SP35 - that is roughly a 3800-4000W DC12V draw, and the SP35 contains a pair of PSUs that are rated to give only 1600W DC each, for about 5.5TH/3200W (~3550W at wall). would love to know more, because if it can actually drive itself to 6TH i want some to go alonside my SP31 units (limited to 4.68TH at 208V)
I'm curious as well ...

Hi guys,

Bit of a problem - I have 2 x SP20E's that have been running the latest firmware without issue. I had to switch all my stuff off while an electrician was doing some upgrade work, but when I switched everything back on again the two SP20's were nowhere to be seen. My router doesn't see them, IPscanner doesn't see them & I can't ping them. The fans are running but they're not hashing, the ethernet LED's are flashing like they're working - but they seem to have completely disappeared off my network. It's like they've "forgotten" everything. I also had my router set to reserve an IP address for them, which worked perfectly up until now.

This is the first time I've had to turn them off with this firmware installed - could it be a bug?

Any suggestions will be gratefully received......

First time it happened, I refreshed the browser and went to myminer.io where i saw nothing initially, but it appeared after1-2 min (few minutes before hashing restarted). Maybe this (an attempt to reach myminer.io) helps to initiate the linkup again.

Try SD recovery card method, but maybe there is something else that you can do like hard reboot them a couple of times.

Hi RoadStress,

I've tried hard rebooting them a couple of times now (it's the only way I can, as I can't access the web UI anyway) but with the same result. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had this problem with the new firmware though, I don't fancy having to do a full SD restore/recovery only to have it happen again the next time I have to power down. It does seem strange that it's happened to both of them.....

Which firmware was it? I'm up to the latest version but I haven't had a problem rebooting them, I also reserve an IP using their MAC address on my DHCP server.

The latest - I only upgraded them both yesterday, this is the first time I have powered them down with this firmware too......
