i just had a check on my sp30 gui and it thinks its Jan 2 2000

Problems with the SP 20 not responding after changing pools. In Chrome selecting the miners IP with /reboot so far has brought them all back to life after a few mins. Avoiding a hard power cycle if you are remote in. I have not tried this after updating firmware.  I guess I will find out sooner rather then later.

no recommendations for .54 or .64?

yeah i presumed i could just run the full cgminer command line but it doesn't - it still takes it from the .conf
i may give the .conf change a bash when mmpool solves the next block
will let you know

You can always install a visual tool to copy/edit files over SSH. I'm using WinSCP, but it's not available on MAC.

Same thing happened to my SP10, just had to give it a reboot and the correct date showed.

Do you guys know if I could use a usb WiFi adapter to connect to the internet instead of an ethernet cable for the miners? Thanks.

it's work in progress.

Better to use a WIFi to Ethernet Bridge.  There are quite a few out there.

I use a Western Digital MyNet AC Bridge for one set of miners (it has 4 ethernet ports):
https://www.amazon.com/Bridge-4-Port-Gigabit-Speeds-Wireless/dp/B00A66WJWK/ref=as_sl_pc_ss_til?tag=jedislair-20&linkCode=w01&linkId=5VJGKSAZOUYEIU53&creativeASIN=B00A66WJWK

And a Netgear EX6200 AC wifi extender for another set of miners (5 ethernet ports):
https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-AC1200-Power-700mW-Extender/dp/B00HQ883QW/ref=as_sl_pc_ss_til?tag=jedislair-20&linkCode=w01&linkId=64PGYXMUEPQEOXGG&creativeASIN=B00HQ883QW

You can add a switch to a port if you have more than 4 or 5 miners at one location.

Is this one of the SP20's at your house?  It looks like it will need the SD recovery.  If the actual mnt path is gone like wh00per stated earlier it seems to have owned that part of the system.  I can't remember the exact fsck command for this version of *nix.  Even then I think it will be a lot more of a pain to do vs running the SD recovery.
update:

I have successfully applied the recover from sd card (got christmas lights)

restarted the miner and it starts mining correctly itself now (no need to ./cgminer in ssh)
but still no GUI

it's mining on slush, I can see the worker hashrate OK on slush website

puzzling situation, not having GUI isn't a severe issue, I am happy to leave the miner at slush,
just annoying. I blame the dead S5.
i had the same issue with my first sp20, never got the xmas tree lights and it took 3 attempts at sd recover but finally came back.

weird bcoz sp30 sd recover worked 1st time, with alt-xmas lights...

at least its hashing away, let us know your 24hr avg on slush as & when.
all seems well. I may go back to it and try sd recovery again - maybe tomorrow

after managing to run cgminer manually, i babysat it last night so it's been going ~24hrs

i've never had to babysit an SP-Tech miner but having no GUI isn't a big problem, happy to have it on slush for variance, it just means i can't put it back to mmpool (pool now at 300TH  ;D ) via pool options in GUI to ramp up shares on new block round start - i like to fire all 10TH to mmpool early in a round to keep my earnings up.

anyway - ho-hum... i'll do another sdrecovery maybe tomorrow and report back. It's my turn to cook family dinner so i'm concentrating on that today, got the old folks coming round later.

You should be able to modify the pools by editing the cgminer config file.

SSH to log in to your miner, and then use: vi /etc/cgminer.conf.template

cheers, i've mucked about building p2pool nodes and putting nodes up for altcoins in the past so i should remember the basics of how to edit in terminal or putty but i'll keep it in mind.
Any ideas how to change the hostname on SP20's and having it stick after a reboot ?

Tried "hostname name" and "vi /etc/hostname" and neither of 'em stick Sad

Also, just got my two GB units in, and can't seem to break 1.55TH/s using Antec 1300's with the default settings of the SP20E

Any suggestions on what I might be able to do, to get 'em running closer to 1.7TH/s ?

Look at /etc/init.d/S30hostname
"default settings of the SP20E" - check that the wattage limit on each loop is 288, and that the input air is as cold as possible. 1.55TH sounds a bit low (especially for 2 units), but possible. For intake of 33C that is reasonable result.

Bottom line though, it does not matter as I do not see any difference in operation form my units, just curious now that I see you do not have any either.

I'm under the impression he was being sarcastic....
Oh no, I know he was and I am by no means knocking my SP20 units. I am really curious now what are the differences between the type of errors. I dug around before but could not find any information about the main page errors.

Right on, I wasn't trying to be an ass.  I should have thrown a ;-) in there to be safe--carry on!

There was talk about WiFi to ethernet adapters before https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.9775877. Reading this it sounds like the hardware will not recognize a USB WiFi adapter at this time.
