Not so much concerned with power as with noise as this is sitting not that far from my desk. 1378 GH with only 20% Fan, love these things (SP20's).

Very nice.  Are you able to use a 750w PSU with that?

So if I would of just waited a few days before ordering I would of saved $405. basically a whole month of ROI

That is almost always true in this game, at any time, with any product.
In fact, products go from coveted to worthless in a blink of an eye.

With product usable lifetimes so short, who wants to pay the extra cost for an over-engineered product ?

If "over-engineered" means it "just works", count me in.

My GB was running since 23 December until today so no excuse there. Sorry anyway! Happy mining!

and who doesn't? they all do now due to regs.

Well for the moment US laws seem to be more intrusive than the EU laws when it comes to bitcoin exchanges and while all transactions are available in the blockchain I never heard any report regarding accounts closure in Bitstamp like those from Coinbase.

Sorry for the offtopic.

Kind of bummed that before my three pack of sp20s shipped, the price was reduced $405

::sigh::

$405? Where do you see that price?

cool, but SP20's price is no longer competitive

the bitmaintech price drop for the s-5 was very big.

Don't forget you get what you pay for.  Bitmain hardware, unfortunately, now has a reputation for being lower quality.  Also their customer service tends to be pretty poor as well.

M

well I have 8 sp20's and I sold the one demo s-5 given to me.
And you declared the SP20 winner.

in my home where stacking counts. the sp20 works better for me,but sell me the s-5 cheap enough and I will go back out and buy some just to tear down and fuck around with.
No thank you, we're selling only quality hardware.
For cheap open plastic stuff, look somewhere else.  Grin

Two days into mining with my new SP20s and so far, I'm pretty happy.

I'm running 3 SP20s off of two EVGA 1300G2 power supplies.

All 3 are running at 760 watts and I'm getting 1.3 to 1.35Th/s on them.  When I get home I'll run a kill-a-watt on both PSUs so I get a set of measurements at the wall.

Don't know.  My S5 units are running stock and in spec.  SP20s are running great.  The 1.7T is not reachable in my environment, but 1.5-1.6 is easy. That ability and better construction makes the SP20 worth a premium over the S5.  But how much?

you can ask the question differently. Depending on your circuits, you can put one SP-20 (downlocked to ~1.27-1.3Th and 700W) AND one S5 on one 110/120v/15A circuit, OR two Sp20 at 800W (1.36 Th) on a 20A circuit. I think assessing what circuits are available and where (rooms, garage, shed) determines the optimal set of miners.
My take: if you like to fiddle with software and good support-SP20 is for you-endless possibilities in adjusting. If you like physical mods-S5 might have an edge as you can build a shroud, try different fan combos, etc. To my ears, S5 sound (at default) is much worse than Sp20 (at least at setting 30), but S5 may sound better with a third party fan.

+1 100% agreed.

With Coinbase I dont like the fact that you cant place limit orders to buy and sell, only market.  And the spreads are wide too.

I use the bitcoin trader app on my nexus 7 and also running on a PC using an android emulator.  It lets you set limit orders and such.  Picked up some btc at the $258 range this weekend using it.

Quick question: What's the yellow flashing light (9x repeating) mean?  Everything looks to be mining just fine, but noticed one unit doing this.
