I am looking at a September Sp30 for ~ 6.7 BTC and comparing it to 10 x S3 for 6.8 BTC which ship Aug. 7 and it looks like the S3 package will earn me 4 or 5 BTC before the SP30 gets here.

Would someone from Spondoolies like to provide a rationale for why I should buy a September SP30 instead of S3s ?

here is one reason to buy the sp30  they can host it at a decent rate. bitmaintech won't host the s-3's

Oh, yeah, I see how that would work.  Rather than doing API-allow for the whole LAN, we could just do it for our stats aggregation server. This would only give the data that cgminer has access to, though. No ASIC temps, clocks, power consumption, etc. Also, it would require a small mod to the firmware for each miner, which isn't a big deal, but it is a moderate-sized deal.

Zvi, is there another remote API for getting stats from the miners that includes the Spondoolies-specific stuff, or am I hunting unicorns?

https://github.com/Spondoolies-Tech/minepeon/blob/Spond0.1/http/monitor.php

Looks like the stats in the UI are read from files created by the various software parts. One can do that if the thing resides in the same location as the rest of the UI.
If you authenticate to the miner's HTTP, you I guess you can access the JSON offered by the "monitor.php" as output .. like an api call.

One can hit password protected areas with the username and passwords in the URL call. It's a webserver ..

who said i bought anything? I am just joining in the conversation, sorry if I don't have all the facts or actually have a stake in spondoolies hardware. Just joining in community conversation.
Sorry, that is not allowed around here.  If you don't show your Spondoolies receipt, you can't possibly be right about them having fucked up their engineering.  Only those with certified receipts are allowed to comment.

I get in huge trouble for having an opinion without having proof of order.

how is that fiar for people in europe who pay 0.25euro cent ($0.34) per killowatt......

People paying 0.25 euro cent per killowatt shouldn't do home mine from the start. Complaining about the high power costs when we have a colocation thread where people can get access to cheap power is pointless. Here is the link in case anyone missed it (although it was posted several times already): https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/hw-hosting-directory-reputation-622998 There are options for everyone!

you are spot on correct about a cutoff point for power costs.

I do think my monthly comp for power idea is fair for in house users that are .20 usd or less .  It would be a good way to compensate
for the extra $$$ spent on the  power.

jtoomim: I'd connect to the cgminer API exactly like the web interface does when you click the UI buttons. The idea is to "API Allow"  connections from all over the LAN, not only from localhost, and you can have a nice monitoring tool. There were guys doing that since Coblee started Litecoin Smiley

mods have made an effort to clam thread down. lets get back to fair comp numbers and argue over that.

lets say 4.5/5.4 =  .83333333 x list of 5095 =  4245 .  first comp number then  3000 watts vs 2500 watts is a 500 watt difference that is 12 kwatts a day that is 360 kwatts a month

so

18 usd a month at 5 cents a kwatt

36 usd a month at 10 cents a kwatt

54 usd a month at 15 cents a kwatt

72  usd  a month at 20 cents a kwatt

that would be 1 way to figure fair comp.

if you paid 5095 usd you get a 850 usd refund. and a monthly pay back for the power.  since the power loss is not instant but over time.

I was waiting for that to pop up if you are in that boat

A) get it hosted

Now I would think no one would want to pay .34 usd a k-watt and mine  but I do understand why people pay that high.  I pay .15 and mine in house but I do have plenty hosted.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.7894701

I am also hosted  here wait for link--- found link

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/wwweasy2minecom-340-the-group-buy-of-antminer-s5psu-included-514758

I would suggest that if you were /are a high cost power spot  ie over 20 cents a k-watt and you had planned to do it in house spondoolies should help you host it somewhere. Heck this could even help you spend less then you planned.

to be fair to them asking for compensation above the 20 cent or 25 cent a kwatt  is not reasonable when they could arrange to be safely hosted at far less.

simple easy to do for the power end payback.   the 4.5/5.4 vs the 4.5/6 is also more fair since most buyer purchased at the 5.4 number not the 6.0 number.  I can see this is where the fight needs to be.

Effective Hash Rate:   6 TH/s ± 10%

Nominal Power Consumption:   2500 W

6TH - 25% = 4.5TH

6TH + 10% = 6.6TH - 31.75% = 4.5TH

2500w + 22% = 3050w

Can I please have your monitoring app, please please? I hate to have 8 browser pages open all the time...

It is not trivial to put up, it needs a lamp server and connects to your dhcp deamon. It is really for dc, not home.

Can I have it? We were planning on writing something like that for in-house use anyway. It would be better to just modify something existing. LAMP and DHCP finagling shouldn't be an issue for us. We've got 3 servers allocated for tasks like this. No rush, though. We've only got 1 machine coming in from the July batch.

Does it require login credentials for each machine? We'll probably only have logins for 80% of the machines we run, as some of our customers will probably want to keep the configuration to themselves.

Seconds in hexa. What other formats are there ? )

We mortals use simple seconds Smiley

Why are you jumping the gun without even announcing the final details of the compensation plans? Also you know that you are free to address any concerns to them directly on e-mail.

Are you talking to me...are you talking to me? De Niro, etc...  Smiley
OP posted a meek question...I commented.
Whatever, you don't need to post your opinion here that often...nobody is attacking spt and everybody already knows where you stand, really.

I wasn't attacking you and you weren't attacking spt. It was merely a suggestion and yes I do post a bit too often. No action in the other threads and I'm bored, but point noted.

Hi all.

Brought up some more stations today..

Note that the SW will restart several times over the first day - this is normal.
The difference between self-reported rate and pool rate is about 3% when you start the miner and 1% after 20 minutes.

Units list in monitoring app:

And the UI of our best station:

I must say that SP30 is much sexier looking then SP10. I don't know what it is, but I like it more. Let's hope to get some 6.0TH there in October, but 4.5Th is still impressive to me after becoming used to 1.4TH.
SP10 suddenly feels like old joke about fake Christmas toys - same as real, but no fun in them.

how long is your burn in process before shipping ?

If you will some spare time, in the future, please consider making a monitoring tool, that will help us monitor multiple SPs at one window, just by putting IP, user, pass.

Thanks!
