Greetings Storj people!

I've just come across Factom, seems like a solid project with launch coming next week. So I began digging into it and saw this video where Storj is mentioned as a partial solution to a particular issue they are addressing. Can the Devs confirm that you are cooperating with the Factom project in any way?
BTW, this thread seems a little "dead".. Is there another one with more activity?

oh yeah, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAhLqEn87kM&feature=youtu.be&list=PLz_L4-CmLmke89VhwtTzcNF4TI4RP3tbH

We are very close to Factom, both teams are very friendly and open to collaboration.
There are very good use cases for both technologies to work together, one for storage the other for record keeping.
We are in contact with a number of other projects too, there is a lot going on in the 2.0 space.
Storj is open to collaboration and integration with other tech and projects, there are a few launching in 2015, we are working to be one of them.

We are also presenting at the Texas Bitcoin Conference this weekend, our Lead Developer Shawn, and Hardware Integration Lead Andrew, will be welcoming guests at the Storj booth.
Shawn's speech was today and he's also one of the mentors for the Hackhaton.

You can try our forum at https://storjtalk.org. We do monitor all of our channels and reply promptly and also recommend our newsletter to which you can register at http://storj.io.
We can't force people to post but we'll be here to assist when they do.

We will have more news soon, watch this space.  Smiley

Thanks for the reply, STORJX!
It would help a lot if you had one main channel for announcements, because it is a red flag for a potential investor who seeks info on updates and finds the most obvious channel (this one) with barely a few posts per week. But I guess if I make a habit of posting questions and you reply as fast as you just have, that's also a way to do it Smiley

We have 4 threads on BTCTalk one for each of our apps MetaDisk, DriveShare, Storjcoin X and this one, when there is an announcement I usually post it on all of them. We are a little spread out, but also have any other channel you can think of: Reddit, G+, Twitter, FB, YouTube, Vimeo, IRC, LinkedIn, StorjTalk.org, and so on.

When there is activity I'll be there, also super3 is quite active on here. He's just been busy with the Texas Bitcoin Conference and some work we are doing for our platform. Wink

Check out this article:  4 ways Blockchain technology will change the world

"Besides being a hobby for techies, Blockchain data storage could be disruptive. Current cloud storage services are centralized — thus users must place trust in a single storage provider.
With the Blockchain, this can become decentralized. For instance, Storj is beta-testing cloud storage using a Blockchain-powered network to improve security and decrease dependency.
Additionally users can rent out their excess storage capacity, Airbnb-style, creating new marketplaces."

I am really interested in this project .
I have a question I can not find an answer ...
How storj solve the problem of different bandwith allocation? There will be file/data highly requested and consume a lot of bandwith instead other very low. How storj solve this problem?
Users are paid for storing data AND providing bandwidth.

Hello! i was one of the early purchaser of Storj and have some storj in my wallet other than that i have got no idea on it , i looked up and found the farmer to install on my system
But before that can you please explain a little more about it
Appreciated

I suggest you look at our FAQ first as it is quite comprehensive: http://storj.io/faq.

For access to our beta: http://storj.io/earlyaccess.

And for setting up your farmer (requires 10,000 SJCX balance for Test Group A) have a look here: https://github.com/Storj/downstream-farmer/wiki/Test-Group-A-FAQ.

This is the latest release open for testers: https://github.com/Storj/downstream-farmer/releases/tag/v0.1.5.
Newer releases are for internal testing only until it is ready for more testers.

The best place to ask your questions is on our forums: https://storjtalk.org, our devs are active on there.
We also have a DriveShare Beta support thread: https://storjtalk.org/index.php?topic=2142.0.

You are welcome to ask any questions you may have there Wink

Thank you Smiley
Seems pretty interesting and easy Cheesy

Is it possible to locate the owner of a file on the network ?

Is is possible to upload a file anonymously ? (and pay for the hosting 10 years ahead for example)

I would love to upload a file anonymously and destroy its "private key" so everyone can download it and no one can destroy it.  Wink

The network will have zero knowledge of its users.
Privacy is guaranteed if you don't share the private keys associated with uploaded content.
If you share a file publicly on an a blog or social media you may still have an account to allow you to post, so you need to keep that in mind.
And even if you destroy the private key while sharing a file publicly, the private key will be part of the URL to the file.
You can see how it works at http://node1.metadisk.org.

We are currently testing the next DriveShare release with 100GB file transfers.
A bit more testing is needed to make sure it is stable and our infrastructure can support it.

This is what the interface will look like.

Our Lead Designer Tome has been working on some new Storj Stickers and they are now complete.
Find attached a zip file that contains them all as high res .jpg files (CMYK - 300dpi).
They are ready to fit the Moo.com rectangular sticker template.
We will also print a few and add them to the StorjTalk Shop!

Download the templates from here: StorjStickersTemplates.zip

The attached templates work perfectly on Moo.com, they should work on a local site of your choice too.

If you find a local printer in your country that works better and cheaper make sure to post a link.
You can also setup your own template for other people in your area who may be interested.

Can anyone summarize how the beta test went ?

The beta is still in progress, we have collected over 11GB worth of data so far, our devs are going through it.
The next step will be to implement 100GB File Transfer Sizes and after that a round trip with an uploaded file that gets shredded and distributed across the network.

So there is still a lot of work to do and improvements to our code, Test Group B and C will help us progress to our final Public Launch.
Bear with us, working hard to make this happen.  Smiley
