Hey guys I have a question, if my computer is only ever used by myself do I really need to encrypt my wallet? Aren't macs secure enough from viruses not to need this? Have you ever heard of cases where peoples coins were taken from a mac by a virus ect? Thanks

You don't necessarily have to but if you want to backup your wallet and save it at several places (e.g. USB Sticks etc.) -- what you should definitely do by the way -- you might want to encrypt it so that it is locked just in case somebody should get their hands on your wallet.dat.

This.

You are not secure from someone physically stealing your Mac or any backup you have. Encrypt and put on several USB drives. Put the USBs in different locations.

Having said that , Im offering 10k PT bounty for an x32  i386 arch wallet for our Mac people. (x64 also if you want a bonus) needs to be a redist.
I just dont have time right now to figure out what the issue is with my deps.
source is
git clone https://github.com/PlatinumTokenCrypto/Coin.git
might need to mkdir src/obj first..

hi maxpower,

could you compile a mooncoin wallet for mac osx? Let me know what you require.

Have you tried this?
http://download.mooncoin.info/

I am not very technical I try to help the dev out he is introducing gravity well into mooncoin and he says he doesn't know how to compile the mac wallet, it needs to be updated apparently. I didn't know there was a wallet already tbh. but anybody here probably knows what he needs. I did mention to dev I found this blog specifically dedicated to osx, but maybe I totally misunderstood. Is it correct that the wallet needs to be changed in order for gravity well to work?
thanks for your help

this was the dev last post
I am really, really trying to compile the Windows Qt wallet myself... I've got Qt 4.8.5 compiling right now.

The new headless mooncoind.exe for Windows and Linux compiles clean.

I have an OSX VMware image but I'll be damned if I know where to begin with that thing...

I spoke too soon, nor can I help.

I don't know much about mooncoin, but yes, if the dev is switching to the Kimoto Gravity Well, then you will need a new version of the OSX client. And this is the place to kindly ask for assistance. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply, we would be very grateful if someone can help.

Maxpower, This is an awesome thread, thank you for the work and collection.

Please take a look at Battle Coin (BCX) and consider compiling a wallet for it as well. It has recently been added to cryptsy and will back a concept that should prove to be an instigator of innovation.

BCX is Pow and Pos sha256

Small description of what BCX is about:

There will be a new multipool (sha & Script) that defaults to mining the most profitable coin(s), like others, but for a price (in BCX) anyone will be able to point the hashing power of that pool to any coin of their choice. The miners will have to be compensated for the difference in profit when not mining the most profitable coin. This compensation will come in the form of Battlecoin, the coin needed to cast votes as to what coin will be mined when not mining the most profitable. A neat idea I think and an ambitious coin at the least attempting to do something a little different.

Has wallets for Windows and Linux available and is in need of a OSX counter part.

I will gladly tip a Block (50 BCX) for the time and effort.

Got it, thank you very much! Happy I can help!

Hey there again, BattleCoin will be under going a hard fork on the 8th and we could use an update to the Mac Wallet.
