During our AMA session with Hacken, Nino Lipartiia shared her thoughts on the Waterfall Network's approach to blockDAG technology:

"The Waterfall project itself is very interesting and really provides new ideas which we do not often see in the sphere. We had to do some research to understand how blockDAG blocks are finalized in Waterfall’s implementation. With Waterfall, we actually have two types of finalization — optimistic and final consensus — so you have to check both in terms of logic and implementation, and also how the Distributed Ledger itself gets transferred or modified to create a Blockchain that is both reliable and safe. In general, we didn’t find many issues with the blockDAG implementation, and the core implementation is pretty secure from our side." —

There are many blockchain platforms that can be used to develop Web3 games. Some of them offer a number of advantages and features – high transaction speed, low fees, and better integration with other gaming services – making them more suitable for developing gaming applications.
For example, on Waterfall, it is possible to create embedded tokens (including NFTs) for game assets that do not place a large load on the network. Release and maintenance of such tokens do not demand special smart contracts but are carried out with ordinary transactions that significantly reduce overhead charges while making their usage more accessible to a wide range of users.

There are three primary ways that games can utilize public decentralized platforms:

- Use of an existing system that has a “universal purpose,” like Ethereum.
- Creation of a personal network based on independent nodes. A decentralized platform can be created, serving not only as a platform for a single game but also for multiple games from the same developer, or as an independent system for game sales and distribution, similar to Steam.
- Creation of decentralized storage with the help of in-game clients. Each player, or select players, serves as a node for the game blockchain.

🚨 Waterfall Network Sets New TPS Record on Mainnet!🚨

On September 27, 2024, we hit a groundbreaking milestone by reaching 12,778 TPS on the mainnet, surpassing our previous testnet record of 11,667 TPS! 🚀

In just 3 tests, we generated over 1,000,000 transactions and measured how quickly they were added to blocks and fully confirmed on the network.

Today's mainnet result of 12,777 TPS (https://docs.waterfall.network/tests/mainnet-test21/ ) is more than 1,000 TPS higher than our peak testnet performance (https://docs.waterfall.network/tests/testnet8-test18/), bringing us closer to the 13,000 TPS mark! 🌟

Key factors behind this achievement:

The network operated with a 6-second slot duration.
Supported by 7,766 validators, nearly 4 times higher than during the testnet phase, ensuring efficient and reliable transaction processing.
Waterfall Network continues to push the boundaries of speed and scalability, joining the ranks of networks that outperform their testnet benchmarks on the mainnet! 🌊🔥

In the current crypto market, Game Finance (GameFi) has emerged as a thriving sector. It basically operates on the Play-to-Earn (P2E) principle, which allows players to earn real-world value or cryptocurrency while playing and progressing in the game. The player can, for example, sell an NFT and withdraw the currency. P2E is a concept that has various adaptations, such as Move-to-Earn. In this model, people earn crypto rewards by doing various physical exercises.

However, P2E has inherent weaknesses, e.g. unsustainable economic model and dependence on future players. There is no way for every player to make money without other players losing money, or, more commonly, the game’s economy would suffer hyperinflation. To earn any return, some group of future players must spend more to keep it all going. Therefore, game developers must understand where such concerns arise and improve designs accordingly.

The Waterfall project is actively exploring the possibilities of decomposing their client software in order to build nodes based on heterogeneous trust clusters. This method aims to significantly boost network throughput. Initially, this might seem less decentralized compared to having each computer as a full node. However, by lowering the power requirements for nodes, the developers hope to involve many low-power devices in the project. It’s worth noting that even without this approach, the number of validators in the project is steadily approaching 10,000.
