It is true that those who are not searching to trade on xel at the moment are best advised to keep their coins off an exchange for safe keeping.

Excited for Sunday's news, I don't have my coins on the exchanges. I still haven't claimed my $XEL. Is there a time limit or can I leave them unclaimed as long as I want?

Please tell me, is there any news on Sunday?
Is that an update from Team $ XEL Huh
If true I will immediately send my $ XEL from wallet to exchange  Smiley

There is an update from the dev team coming. Could be a big announcement about mainnet release or just a simple update or even delay. I am not selling until 5 usd. This is a serious project and a long term hold.

For claiming from the genesis block, there is no limit that i know. You have unlimited time to claim your xel or not even claim if you want

I expect something cool. The GitHub is active and the project is great. it could be one of the first project to be actually really being used

Elastic has always been a real project with a dedicated genius team behind it.

Lovely idea. That being said..

The most lukewarm project of 2017-2018 goes to.... well, it's either XEL or Tezos.

I was promised decentralized computing. Bittrex doesn't keep coins listed these days that aren't delivering products.. see MetalPay.

But half of the projects listed on Bittrex are in early stages of development or are only nearing completion? Not many are fully developed. Most of the coins being de-listed from Bittrex are either coins with broken blockchains or have no active developers/development, so I don't understand your point..

You where promised eh?
Sounds like you feel wrongfully entitled to something, at least when it comes to XEL (I will not speak for Tezos).
You and others like you are owed nothing, better get that into your head to avoid further delusional thoughts.
Please feel free to select one of the "hotter" projects out there. I am sure you will get your kicks out of frequent air filled updates and pr masturbation.
If you do not have the capacity to understand how stagnancy really looks like it is your own personal affair.
Do not waste our time.

Big announcement coming on Sunday as confirmed on the official slack channel

I doubt EK's surprise will be an announcement, but rather a release or something much bigger than just an information.

I wouldn't really expect EK to say something like that if it wasn't something substantial for the progression of his crypto-child Elastic. I'm fairly excited, honestly not sure what it could be though. There have been many GitHub new commits by EK this year, maybe it is some heavy progression towards the completion of the computation engine? I wonder if anyone has the balls to short before a potentially massive update for XEL, especially now since dropping down from an ATH of 25k sat in August and EK has actually purchased some.

The problem is that more than half of the XEL are in one wallet, which is Bittrex. If this wallet gets hacked then Elastic is dead, for sure.
It IS unusual that more than half of all coins are in a single hot wallet. If you hold XEL and do not worry about that situation, then you are naiv.

EDIT: Nobody knows how many people at Bittrex have access to the password of their XEL account. Exchanges have been hacked before.

This is quite a common occurance with newer projects that haven't been around long enough to be listed on more exchanges for a better distribution, in time with more adoption it will change. If Bittrex got hacked there would be bigger problems than just for XEL but in crypto anything can happen. I agree it is always better to keep your tokens where you actually own them and have full control over them.

PUMP

Hi guys, I just saw that more than half of all XEL (50,698,500 of 89,390,937) are on the BitTrex account (XEL-AQVJ-PPCK-QJYJ-8T65V)  Roll Eyes
It's bad practice and undermines the idea of decentralization... please think about it if you have your XEL on BitTrex and consider putting it on a private account.
Have a nice weekend!

PS: If the situation keeps like this, I really hope that XEL will be delisted from Bittrex to wash out the Bittrex-Hodlers
This coin will have a pump without doubts very big. And here about the exchange that removed a coin from the exchange to me frankly speaking your thought is not absolutely clear. Perhaps I what also understand that I exclude it.

i don't understand. How is it possible that more than half of all XEL are owned only by one people? I don't think this is really safe for xel itself..

Half of XEL are not "owned by one people" half of XEL are stored at Bittrex. That's a phenomenon you see with lots and lots of other currencies and nothing unusual. Most buyers don't withdraw their funds onto their wallet, so the exchanges store the majority of coins.

The problem is that more than half of the XEL are in one wallet, which is Bittrex. If this wallet gets hacked then Elastic is dead, for sure.

Why every step of elastic, a Lot of... how to say... “trolls”... try to bullshit elastic?

Each xel represent = computational power

At the moment is equal to 0... tomorrow will be...

If somebody will hack bittrex all the token will reck, not only xel

No, see for instance the Coincheck NEM hack.
This is a serious issue. Your ignorance will not change that fact.

Again: Please consider putting your XEL on a private account!
