Total mining noob here, had trouble starting, this coin/wallet is definitely not for complete beginners.

Main problem with windows wallet: downloaded and after digging through thread discovered how to start mining via hidden away command line console (Hint to DEV a nice obvious mining button on front of wallet would have been nice for us beginners!), anyway Wallet would not start mining at all despite following previous posters helpful instructions.

Finally solved by unlocking wallet (it installed locked as default).   Once mining started I tried locking it again but it stopped mining - hope that helps anyone else with same problem.  Surely this needs a fix as it doesn't seem right to leave wallet unlocked?

If anyone else is feeling helpful can you please explain what the hashrate values signify, I saw one poster said he was out of solo mining because the hashrate was too high - am I wasting my time solo mining with these reported values;

"stakeinterest" : 0.00000031,
"testnet" : false,
"generate" : true,
"genproclimit" : 1,
"hashespersec" : 19771,
"networkhashps" : 748871,
"testnet" : false

Also - how can I see if any coins are being found, the log file isn't very clear what is going on (noob here remember !)

remember the pools on OP as pools you should NEVER use for ANY coin. The pool operators have proven themselves to be complete morons. If they can't even get a launch right, do you really want to trust them with your coins?

Seriously do you even read what you are typing?

There isn't even a pool capable miner yet.

hey fuck you, your pool is TRASH and is almost ALWAYS susceptible to fake share attacks because you are a dumb ass who doesn't know how to fix known vulnerabilities.

 lmao almost always? try never at all. the pool is only a week old. but yeah, troll harder bro.  Grin

I wasn't even talking to you stupid bitch. Is your name 'nonce-pool' ?

you said " the pools on OP as pools you should NEVER use for ANY coin"

i am a pool listed in OP. dont call me a stupid bitch for defending my work, especially since my pool is new and very sturdy.

I can vouch for GoldMin.es, I have mined on his pool, and it always pays out as soon as blocks mature.

excuse me?

also payouts go straight to miners, so theres no need to "trust us with your coins".

Sam Mother Fuckin' Walters
need dev to contact me, i am trying to put coin on my pool!

trying to compile for my pool but:

sunerok@ubuntu:~/magi/src$ sudo make -f makefile.unix
g++ -c -O2 -msse2 -pthread -Wall -Wextra -Wformat -Wformat-security -Wno-unused-parameter -g -DBOOST_SPIRIT_THREADSAFE -I/home/sunerok/magi/src -I/home/sunerok/magi/src/hash -I/home/sunerok/magi/src/obj -DUSE_UPNP=0 -DUSE_IPV6=1 -DHAVE_BUILD_INFO -fno-stack-protector -fstack-protector-all -Wstack-protector -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2  -MMD -MF obj/alert.d -o obj/alert.o alert.cpp
In file included from alert.h:12:0,
                 from alert.cpp:8:
uint256.h:14:19: fatal error: gmpxx.h: No such file or directory
 #include
                   ^
compilation terminated.
make: *** [obj/alert.o] Error 1
sunerok@ubuntu:~/magi/src$

you need libgmp-dev

^^ he is correct

my team said they used this prior to the compile of make file:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install build-essential libboost-all-dev libdb5.1-dev libdb5.1++-dev libminiupnpc-dev git
sudo apt-get install gfortran
sudo apt-get install libgmp-dev

What a fricken mess this has been to try and follow!  Just read through the last 6 pages that blew up the last hour and I still don't have a fucking clue what the hell is going on, is this still in testing mode.......I don't know, it seems like people are actually mining this now but what a joke trying to understand this all!  I guess I will just wait till all calms down and there is a functioning pool in place.  Any average Joe that comes to this thread is going to have their head spinning just like mine is.  Glad I already hold a nice purse of this coin, it looks really good with all the latest advancements but this re-launch was a bit ridiculous!

Guys I know some of you are mad at me for now working fast enough. It is a new algo and i'm working on implementing and testing not only the coin (in general) but also for the pool so miners can enjoy mining coinmagi as a community. The pool my team and I are working on is http://bravemining.com  - I'll give an ETA once we get closer.

Very positive influence coming from the dev and his team, and the community.

Everyone is working together and this is going to separate XMG against all other coins out there.

+1 i agree Sam.
This coin is the most unique one!

I agree. There is tons of benefits here. I love the coin swap concept, the idea difficulty levels to earn higher payouts in coins. Great stuff!

please read a few posts back,
the only way to mine at the start is solo mining with the wallet.
That works perfectly.
You can find a few pages back how to do this.
