15 sept 2017 Magi will become 3 years old.
If all tests are finished (they are looking good at this moment) it might be a good date to launch the improvements & ask the exchanges for update the wallets and continue with the futute of Magi.
Its just an idea. Reminder even BTC start growing bigger after 3 years!
Awesome stuff - Happy Birthday Magi - lets see what this year has in store for us - I'm feeling optimistic despite the recent growing pains

Btw Goldlabel thanks for the cool picture! (Again) 😉

Pls help the test (PoW & PoS mining). We'd see if this test comes out without forks.

I tried this wallet, a few blocks were received, but no start staking.
It says staking in 0 sec. My weigth around  30K, network weight 50. (not K)
I left the wallet for a few hours, nothing happened.

Someone else mentioned this earlier, but I saw no further reply - Since the most recent update, my wallet wont stake. its unlocked for staking etc, but the little crossed picks stay grey, stating 'Not Staking'
Are you connected to the live chain? Does your wallet show a network weight (should be about 400,000 if you are on the chain)? If your weight is 0, try sending your coins back to yourself again (maybe your coins are past staking age - weight reduces with time for magi) - it'll take about 8 hours from there before the coins are available for staking again. Also, best to have about 1000 coins in order to stake effectively. Also if all of your coins already staked they wont stake again unless you are using coin control or using the combine and split values in the magi.cong file (there is an example above), also make sure posii=1 in your magi.conf

1. let magi reward fluctuate and be random to some degree but following an average depending on network hash for the last 12 hrs or so. The randomness of the reward but with a target average would benefit miners who mine long term and not botnets who only jump when reward is high and leave as soon as it is low. Because rewards go up and down they are left with one choice. Continuously farm or not to farm at all.

This is really a jolly good idea. Maybe just thinking a bit (or byte) more, but this can be the start of a definite solution, great.

Actually, I like the idea too. Sometimes a complicated problem can have a very simple answer. What if the block reward will be a number between 1.00 and 11.99? Doesn't matter what was happening in the last 2,3 or 12 hours. It cannot be predicted.

i thought about that also. it would be the simplest fix. but joe still like to control the numbers based on hash. And i kinda like the idea that hash affects the coins as well. If the numbers were anywhere in 1-11. those who deem it profitable will just stay and mine. botnets or not. This is just a partial solution. Joe was on the right track with the hash rate adjustment. But it just needs to be unpredictable to be a more complete solution. with that said its really up to Joe. But i really think adding a randomizer will make this coin truly stand out and become closer to a coin for everyone. No need to make it solo mine only or whatever. The randomizer will at least deter those flash miners who jump in and out with high hashrate.

Not sure if this is feasible. It's not possible to gather network consensus on a random number. All nodes would have to blindly accept the block rewards "suggested" by the miner.
It would be easy for someone with less good intentions to change the source code to give one the maximum possible block reward within the limited validations other peers can make.
But Joe is master Cheesy on this and maybe can tell us if this is so?

EDIT: ...unless the random number is not so random, e.g., deterministically derived from the last 2-4 hexadecimal digits in the mined block hash.

Randomness can be optional, while I'm wondering if randomness is mainly served to make block value guess be difficult? However, if we go patterning the average reward following a rule, I bet people can make use of the average rule. And yet, I wouldn't go complete random blocks at this point, as in the case big miners jump in who will actually control majority reward; the reward must make connections to parameter(s) that reflects the actual mining scene.

Other than the mentioned solution, I actually in part put efforts on the PoW mining that, in the case of big hashrate, put aside block reward to benefit people, who remains in nodes, PoS mode, or some other services.

Yup I was thinking of still continuing with your current reward by hash but add a randomizer multiplier which will reduce or increase reward. It will reduce some people who only jump when they see a high reward block. Before I knew how xmg worked I was actually mining in zpool with a huge batch file that changed what coin I mined based on hash rate. Some of this big hash miners may have a private pool similar to zpool or Nicehash implementation. This will make them think twice adding xmg to their multi algo mining.

hi guys, love this coin, got a good feeling about it Smiley
just one thing, i cant seem to be able to sync the wallet, and no wallet on bittrex, hence i can not withdraw any of my mining to a wallet.
on PC the wallet get stuck at some block and nothing happens, i use latest wallet (1.4.3 i believe ),
please advise.
thank you!
Did you update your magi.conf with the connect= information (not near my wallet right now - so can't dig it out for you), I think there are some posts a few pages back with some sample magi.conf files

thanks for the explanation above, here is my config file:
Code:
# You must set rpcuser and rpcpassword to secure the JSON-RPC api
rpcuser=tommyo
rpcpassword=abgff

# Listen for RPC connections on this TCP port:
rpcport=8232

# server=1 to accept JSON-RPC commands
server=1

# listen=1 to accept connections from outside
listen=0

# RPC connection from localhost allowed
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1

# Add nodes to connect to specific peers
connect=104.128.225.215

# posii=1 to enable PoS staking; default = 0
posii=1

# Transaction under stake with a value greater than the threshold is being splitted
stakesplitthreshold=500

# Transactions with values less than the threshold will combine into one
stakecombinethreshold=250

i found a 1.2 gb blockchin file, will try to use it to work around this problem, it is stuck at block 132605, and i active 8 active peers, windows 10.

thank you.

edit:
where should i put the extracted files? the blocks and database folder?
couldnt find where the wallet is saving his syncing to.

edit 2:
figured it out, got it up and running with imported block chains.

now can someone please explain to me how do i send money from my paper wallet generated at https://walletgenerator.net/?currency=Magicoin
into my pc wallet?

thank you guys!

I have put a test chain on node 45.35.251.73. This is only for test; mining won't be valid:

Download the wallet and blockchain from the following:

http://coinmagi.org/bin/test/
(I'm away from my compiling setup so only 64bit binaries are available at the moment)

source: https://github.com/magi-project/magi/tree/v1.4.3-test

v1.4.3.1

Pls help the test (PoW & PoS mining). We'd see if this test comes out without forks.

The chain will proceed when PoS and PoW both are mined or in a pace of about 15minutes when block conditions aren't met. If you have coins in the official chain, you might be able to use that on the test chain for PoS minting (make sure backup wallet.dat).

Node:

Code:
addnode=45.35.251.73

have installed Wallet and downloading blocks now. Will test once in sync on above node

and another question guys, i am mining in minerclaim, i see the rewards are usually 10~ down to 0.5, now i see that some payouts outside of the pool with 1,000 coins, whit proof-of-stake.

Block Height   Age   Transactions   Value Out   Difficulty   Extracted by
1468880   1 minute   20.4 kB   1,125.58529186 XMG   0.0058   Proof of Stake

while each value out from minerclain is 10~, can some one please explain this to me? can i also do PoS and extract 1,000 each time?
please advise
thank you
Hi TommyYo,

Welcome to the Magi community,

You'll find that the PoS blocks you are questioning contain tranactions - not generated coins (this is the whole point of generating blocks - to enable, and confirm transactions in the chain)

See, https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xmg/block.dws?1469038.htm

The PoS Generation was 0.1XMG
As part of that block somebody also transferred 1002XMG, a block can actually contain many transactions - as you'll probably see when the exchanges come online again

xmgpool i lost 24 coins from your pool...what i need do?

PM your username, wallet address, let me check.
i lost more tan 700, and i cant see my historic transactions, you clean the Database ?
how can i get my coins back ?

I messaged jcreyesb with detail transactions and it seemed the problem resolved since he didn't response my message.

After xmgpool reopened recently, there was some fork going on. So I may delete those orphan blocks from database by comparing with https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xmg. It seems most of the 700 could be related to orphan blocks. You already PMed me. So if you want to resolve the problem, then be reasonable and resolve it privately.

I am sorry, yes. it was resolved.. thanks

Random? Do you really think random have a "flat" pattern? Look at this:
https://i.imgur.com/El48q70.jpg
It's a graph from a pure random from a quantum random generator, not an "algorithmic" pseudorandom. Data reduced to the form (+1/-1).

Random have wave-related pattern - big waves contains midwaves contains miniwaves contains microwaves. On a long distance (=infinity) big reward blocks = low reward blocks, but on a short distance random have a fluctuations. It's mean you may have 10, 20, 50, 100 blocks with low reward in a row (and it doesnt mean you will have +10, +20, +50, +100 big reward blocks next or even in a near future!), you may have less profitable not days, but even weeks. And nothing you can do.

i read through Magi OP summary and it sounds good to me. with segwit, new wallet and magipay gateway coming soon, I am going to buy some magi coins and hold for good profits

Glad you've got interested into buying Magi, mate. Believe me, it will be the best investment you'll ever make as the coin has managed to rise in value over the course of time. With its friendly community and active development, it will survive for many years to come.

The latest improvements for Magi, will make it more robust and popular towards helping it soar all the way to the moon. In addition, Magi is ASIC resistant, making it easy for anyone with an average PC or low powered device, to start mining some coins. I've been mining XMG within my smartphone for a couple of days and have obtained quick results unlike many altcoins out there.

Nevertheless, if you take the time to research more about the Magi project and make the right decision with your investment, you may become successful with this exciting cryptocurrency for many years to come. Wink
Thanks Abiky. Good words. The power of the community and active team will give a great future.
All thanks for the ideas & feedback.
Magi appriciate it a lot.

I guess every coin should have something more than only algoritm,  what really magi coin does?  I read about magi pay, is this works?   Where can I pay by magi coin?
Before coin have no real value - it is not a coin and just an air.
I hope devs will do more in real life with this coin after fix fork issue.
That's why we have magipay (it works at this point), and I was pursuing all along, however things came out upon limits when the coin relies on few people. I wish we have a community-surrounded involvements in creating various services / developments which will absolutely lead to more technical stuffs than just the team.
Magi will work on more services after all this is behind us.
