You have a point there but when you look at it, those co-processor cards are just a large number of 386-type CPUs built into a 3D matrix on chip with some fast memory nearby, so you would still be CPU mining in a sense. It is much the same with GPU cards as well. There may (or may not) be some energy efficiency advantage to be had as well.

The trick I suppose is to de-tune the mining software so that it does not use all the processors at once, flooding the blockchain with 5 Mh/s and reducing the block rewards to dust. Mining XMG should be done with a bit of finesse, not brute force. As long as it is kept under control, I don't see a problem.

The Wallet Mage software that I am working on uses those download links to make things even easier. My aim is to make it really simple to set up a new wallet in double-quick time just by clicking a button (or maybe two) which should be great for newcomers and first-timers on Windows.

You need about 1.3 Gb of free disk space with the current size of the blockchain. This requirement will increase over time. The snapshot download is currently about 300 Mb, the temporary extracted files take up about 500 Mb and the final copy in the working folder takes up another 500 Mb. You can delete the original download file and the temporary extracted files after copying to the working folder so you can reclaim about 800 Mb afterwards.

You might be wrong, but you ask good questions.
Apparently somebody does not have notion of "computing devices". Apparently somebody thinks some devices are "good" while some others are "bad". Lowering operative costs increases margins.

all you need is in your program

your program put the cpu usage back if the temp goes to high, perfect

That happens all the time. The nethashrate figure is not directly measured but estimated from the time taken to mine previous blocks. If a previous block was mined very quickly as fluke event, the estimated nethashrate figure can be very high and of course wildly inaccurate. The opposite can and does happen too - if a previous block took a very long time to mine, the estimated nethashrate figure can be very low and wildly inaccurate just the same.

The total hashrate given by the Poolstats utility is derived from the totals reported by the pools and is usually fairly accurate, although not entirely so. There can be some variance there as well but it tends to average-out over a relatively short time.

If people are completely stupid and throw everything they have at the XMG blockchain with whatever hardware and software they have, yes it will kill the block rewards and be self-defeating. We see this kind of thing already. Excessive hashpower can be directed at the XMG multipool using another mining algorithm though and people can get paid in XMG, so it need not be a problem.
