Whitecoin wallet v2.3.1 released

Wallet 2.3.1 Release

Better late with the information than never! But…

Whitecoin wallet v2.3.1 has been released! (some time ago)
Lizhi has been hard at work over the past couple of months making the XWC wallet much improved… adding many additional features which improve the experience for both you, the end user and implement new functions which will help make Whitecoin usable in a commercial way.

This latest release improves the QR code usage.. you can now create a QR code requesting payments and also scan the corresponding QR code as well as importing addresses via the QR code system.

Users can also now generate a paper wallet! If you plan to use this as your primary method of backing up I do suggest you laminate it for longevity!

Other changes include:

  • Add extra seeders
  • Update statistics page
  • Expand maximum script length
  • Snap-QR
  • Paper wallet
  • Copy public key and address KeyID on addressbook page
  • Decode remark in TransactionDescDialog
  • Add Print Menu in addressbook page
  • Import Private Key in addressbook page

This update includes a great increase in functionality and can be downloaded here: https://github.com/Whitecoin-org/whitecoin/releases

Wallet version 2.4.0 is currently being worked on and in a beta stage. If you so wish try it out but it is recommended to upgrade to v2.3.1 until full release.

XWC is pumped quite a lot. Why? What is so good in XWC? What XWC is solving so good?

Well fundamentally we basically pride ourselves on a really good network, community and growth.

So, we have a very high percentage of coins being staked.. this creates a really good network where syncing is very fast (much faster to download XWC wallet and have the blockchain up to speed than pretty much any other coin). Fast transaction times. Very power efficient network through the use of Whitenode... our entire network (if everyone used Whitenode) could be secured for less power than a single ASIC miner on BTC network.

Our coin is community driven, our devs volunteer to work on XWC... this means what work is done for the good of you and influenced by you, there's no pre-mine profiteering, or ICO funding where a dev team can promote how they like to increase the price to just sell off their stake. Our community is engaged, friendly and helpful.

We are a growth coin with 3rd parties building off XWC and our expansion in to untapped markets to expand the influence of cryptos and XWC.

As for 'what are we solving' XWC is an old coin where the technology of the coin is what is valuable.. and we still hold true to that. low power consumption, fast, secure network.

Hope that gives you some outline.

XWC Miner - Whitenode Project

The Whitenode project

The Whitenode project has been a community funded endeavour to commercially produce an energy efficient platform based on the Whitenode raspberry Pi software to stake Whitecoin for the PoS block reward.

The project raised 10,000,000 XWC to begin production as well as to research and develop other avenues which will benefit the use and adoption of Whitecoin for both individuals and commerce.

The XWC Miner will make adoption of the Whitenode wallet software easy for all users as it is pre-packaged and requires minimal set up to get you staking your XWC for under 2 Watts of power.

To this end:

The first batch of Whitenode miners has been shipped!
150 XWC Miners have been shipped to their new owners!

This is the first step in the implementation of this project, currently orders are only able to be shipped to residents of China but plans are already underway to allow XWC Miners to be purchased globally This is expected to be possible later February to early March.

Visit the XWC Miner website to see more on the projects that are being planned and sign up in preparation to order your XWC Miner http://www.xwcminer.com

Guys, what's the difference between XWC and WCO? I have 100 WCO in my wallet, but I can't exchange it for XWC. What's going on??

XWC is XWC...

No Idea what WCO is... Where and how did you get WCO?

DEV should come out and answer these questions.

1) The swap for XWC v2 ended months ago

2) Yes whitecoin is POS

They have been answered a hundred times, use the search function.

Thank you for the reply, but hopefully they can make an exception for this case. Just came back to visit the forum again and found-out that old WC coin was been swapped last year. Recovering it could help me a lot.

Unfortunately it's not possible anymore, those coins were given 4+ months to be swapped  (correct me if wrong number) , they were burned already.

I know it's not what you want to hear but that's reality. On the positive side, alts are dipping so take advantage if you really like whitecoin.

Thanks for handling that one LemonAndFries...

Didn't get back to them in time before it seems we'd gone in to hiding!

Was whitecoin previously a scrypt algorithm? It looks like an old coin, and a few years later, it's alive and has a new name.

So Whitecoin has always been a hybrid PoW/PoS coin.

Yes it is a scrypt coin, PoW phase ended early 2014.

The name hasn't changed, our ticker symbol was updated to XWC a long time ago now too..

It's always been alive, but we only started really thriving in 2017.

Thank you for a great year Whitecoin. Looking forward to 2018 and beyond. Happy New Year to all.

It looks like WhiteCoin is meeting 2018 with a bang. One of the few up coins in market dominated by falling prices. Volume is quite large too.

Good day, I have a whitecoin from old version (WC) can I still exchange it to this (XWC) version? I have around 40,000 WC coins. Hope you could help me recover it, I've lost a lot of bitcoins from my investments with crypto.

Thanks for the help!!

........

Code:
git clone https://github.com/glassechidna/zxing-cpp.git
cd zxing-cpp/
mkdir build
cd build/
export CXXFLAGS="-fPIC"
cmake -G "Unix Makefiles" -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release ..
make && sudo make install

Let me know if this works.

I am missing another file, this will probably be a thing for a while so I will tell you what did work.

When I compiled v2.2, it compiled correctly and I have been using that version for staking now.
