is this like usdt? like backed to actual BTC

No, it's not like USDT. BTH is not backed by BTC.

So what is this trying to accomplish? If you make a token just to make a token it doesn't really mean alot. What does this bring to the crytpo economy, what problem does this fix etc?

We tried to answer with the first post.

tl;dr

BTC is good to hold value, but it is not good for payment because BTC transaction is slow and expensive.
ETH's transaction, in the order hand, is faster and cheaper

We want to separate of concerns. Let ETH handle blockchain and take advantages of BTC's currency properties. In our road map, we also provide payment integration for Bytether(BTH)

BTH = BTC + ETH + Payment ecosystem.

Long version

Why Bytether?

It is undeniable that Bitcoin is the most well-known cryptocurrency, yet the fundamental implementation of Bitcoin built its own obstacles such as low transaction speed and high transaction fee. Ethereum is much better in that concerns.

No doubt there are quite a few other coins trying to replicate Bitcoin on Etherum network but Bytether is different. We do cross-fork from Bitcoin blockchain to Ethereum network to provide a better currency and enable Bitcoin holders to instantly on-board. Bytether is the real equivalent Bitcoin on the Etherum network.

Cryptocurrencies payment is still inaccessible to many parties due to Bitcoin lack of the smart contract and discrepancy between various ERC20 tokens. Bytether, on the other hand, focuses itself around payment and payment only. With a specialized smart contract, Bytether can handle complicated payment transactions.

I think we need to sign-in a message with Bitcoin wallet/address to prove ownership of BTC and post it into your Smart Contract to get equal BTH. Am I right?

Yes, exactly. You can create an ETH address and sign it with your bitcoin wallet. We will provide a verification contract for you to send this signature. Once verified, your ether address will reserve the right to claim the bitcoin address balance.

We will provide detailed guide once we complete our verification contract, ETA 2 week.

@pure_happiness_inside: This should answer your question, too Smiley

really interesting project!

can you give more details around how the cross-forking actually works? you said this is all done through a smart contract? so you would need to sign an eth contract and give it an eth address? are there any security issues here? and how do you prove ownership of a bitcoin address??

Hi Adamlm,

> Interesting. Is it obligatory to join your slack in order to receive Bytether?

No, not really. In term of receiving Bytether, we have two main steps.

Step one is for BTC holders who have BTC before a block, that we will inform later. The holder need to verify their ownership of a BTC address in order to claim the same amount of BTH. We will have smart contract to verify and claim BTH.

Step two to grow the user pool. We will distribute 1.000.000 BTH to whitelisted BTH users. The whitelisting process hasn't been finalized yet. We need to see how people react to the project before decide the next move.

Join our Slack is one way to help us interact with the community and give updates asap.

> You should have a mailing list for that purpose.

Yes, we will definitely have it soon. However, we need to have one central place to provide information to people.

Currently, we have to use multiple platforms / channels to do announcement since we have no choice. But it would be better to have one place to inform you all about when to launch whitelist registration, claiming process and so on.

Thank you.

3. How can we check the usage of BTH marketing and user grow pool fund?
4. The transaction fee is too high for me, how can I reduce it?
