I cannot find a decent pool at all that works all of them are either a scam or the actual pool doesn't work so you cannot mine on it.
Me too.  I'm now- trying the p2pool at crunchpool that is supposed to directly pay into my wallet.  http://aur.p2poolnodes.com:12347/static/

I'll bump this sense no one could answer me. What's to stop there government from banning it as a currency\commodity.
has the developers talked to the government to see if they will accept and adopt it? will there will be stores and businesses that will accept it? Would this actually be able to be an official currency for the Icelandic people or will this be a large handout\charitable donation to them. Also if a whale mines and buys to get a large percentage of this coin could they theoretically control the worth of the Icelandic currency if it is accepted. By dumping everything he\she would have and plummeting the price. I want this coin to succeeded so im just pointing out any problems\ my misunderstandings early on.

Lets try to get some action going in the mineabit pool:

***
Mine-a-Bit: http://aur.pool.mineabit.com/
0% Pool Fee / 0.01 AUR tx fee / VarDiff

Excellent for "lower" hashrate miners, and why not for higher hashrates too, compare to pool with 1% pool fee and 0.1 AUR tx fee:
Lets say you set autopayout to 1 AUR.. you pay 0.01 AUR for the pool fees and 0.1 AUR tx fee; thats 0.11AUR taken from every payout.. 11% total fees! // with mineabit, this would be 0.01 AUR tx fee = 1%
With autopayout set to 5 AUR, that would do 0.15 AUR in fees from every payout.. 3% total fees! // with mineabit, the total fees are still 0.01 AUR, which would be 0.2%
***

Bump for reminder / new miners Smiley

Stop deluding yourselves and letting your greed blind you. It will not garner interest from even a tiny % of Iceland's population. 20% of the population is under 14 years old. 20% is above 55 years old. The vast, vast majority of citizens (and the verification process on here is ridiculous, and will likely never, ever happen) will never hear of it, never receive the coins and go on with their days.

"Everyone wins." Not the people who buy in when the coin is overvalued when eventually it will be worth virtually nothing. They will lose. But, I guess, free market, only the strong survive. It just boggles my mind that there are actually people buying into this.

As mentioned already, Iceland has a pretty small population in very concentrated areas, so information gets passed around quick and efficiently. And when you consider the age of the population, where over 50% are aged between 15-54, it is more likely that there will be more adoption since "youngsters" are more likely to be up to date on technological advancements and more knowledgeable of them.
Iceland has according to some studies the highest adoption rate for bitcoin compared to total population, so getting the word out about the aurora can spread fast.
Also if you have followed the news and happenings from Iceland, you know the people are not very fond of banksters and could very well be willing to adopt a currency like this Wink

It's given out in a month. There's no infrastructure, no retailers accepting it, and we're talking about widespread adoption and displacing the national currency?

In most countries, it takes at least a few years to roll out the currency change, and that's given the government support, not a few hobbyists. Hell, for the general population even the very idea of a cryptocurrency is as alien as Martians.

So, nope. It might - just might - sustain itself as yet another altcoin, but getting the whole country to run at it is about as likely as it is for the world to turn to BTC as the primary currency. Which is "not very much, but maybe in ten years or so".

You obviously are not familiar with Icelandic people

Guys, mine AUR on p2pool to help decentralisation:
http://p2pool.crunchpool.com:12347/
Our node has the best efficiency in the network, almost no DOA or orphan shares!

APGpx7ejE1YtcnGXUNrjH42xh9Bgb7Q78V   46.3kH/s   0H/s   0%
I mine there!

Any tips on how to increase my hashrate?
What are you using? I'd get a better GPU, 46kh is very little hashpower. AMD radeon 7950, 7970, r9 280x, r9 270x, r9 290..
Thanks for helping btw Wink

Im mining this pool, but my hashrate is 13.50kh.  What miner should i be using for GPU mining and what should my .bat file look like?  Im using a Radeon H7770.  Help!

So we will get details of the "Airdrop" once it is underway?

Visit the official site http://www.auroracoin.org/ to find out more about the Airdrop details.

What separate Auroracoin from other altcoins is a great idea/vision to reach out to the people of a particular country which has never been done before by any coin Dev. With the great things happening currently for AUR this might become the most successful coin in the history of crypto currency.

Though I don't have any AUR I'm very excited about the Airdrop just to find out if the currency will be widely acceptable or not by the Icelandic people a couple of months after. Smiley

Rolling out a fiat currency and a cryptocurrency are vastly different.  And the dispersal BEGINS in a month and there are multiple phases (I suggest reading the dispersal plan).  And of course there's no retailers utilizing it now.  But before long, someone in Iceland will be selling Alpaca socks for Auroracoin and it shall begin.

And most of us supporters are not claiming replacement of the national currency.

Please request they add Auroracoin to their supported currencies here:

Maybe an unusual question, but all you who have expressed your negative feelings/expectations, if you could decide, would you like this project cancelled?
