It was a bold experiment but fell well short, because it was done with a Field Of Dreams-esque "If you build it, they will come" belief. Unfortunately, during this time period in crypto-currency, it presented a platform that was PERFECT for pump and dumpers...couldn't have been more perfect.

100 satoshis -> ISO code
While I have wanted this project to succeed from when it was first announced, it is now obvious (to me anyway!) that it started with a very serious handicap.

Basically, to get broad usage in the general population Auroracoin needed a level of infrastructure before the airdrop:

a) AUR wallet software for the main mobile devices, Android, windows mobile, iOS (jailbroken if necessary)
b) an AUR merchant service like BitPay ready to sign up businesses
c) an AUR/ISK exchange ready to go
d) the promoter on the ground in Iceland's towns talking to people, businesses, putting a friendly face to the whole endeavor.

The absence of these means a lot longer time frame to get traction, if at all.

Are there any adoption numbers? What percentage of the population has already collected their coins?

Don't get the wrong idea about this govt. run authentication system. Our permission to use it is in no way a stamp of approval by the government.

Hi Balduro,

I think the pump is most related with your return (writing here). The government news help a little. That's what I feel.

If your current government and politicians educate the citizens, ( means the pros, the cons, the risks, how to use, etc), could help them to win future elections and re-catch the attention of the world.

Unfortunately I don't hold AUR at this moment, but I will reconsider buy back if you write with a little more frequency than last weeks.

CRYPTOCURRENCY "THE ALT-ERNATIVE" REFERENCE BOOK

I have written the two preliminary pages for Auroracoin AUR.  I need help from the Auroracoin Community in order fully complete it (Specification section - when did the block reward go from 25 to 12.5???).  I want important points included.  Any further suggestions are welcome.  Please consider donating towards the future publication of the book.  I expect it to be published in the summer.

I understand balduro not trying to mislead anyone but basically they no longer view it as a scam? Governments don't just open up their websites to just anyone and this is exciting in itself.

The Icelandic government is not embracing Auroracoin, although they let us use their authentication system.

If people see absolutely no value in the Icelandic government embracing Auroracoin then what hope is there for crypto in general?
