+1 on the idea of removing POW.  Hopefully, this will be a part of the announcement.

1000x no PoW.  What changes will be made?  sounds like something drastic is coming  Huh

As an ICO investor with a significant %, I'm losing faith in this by the minute.

1) What will happen if you don't raise as much BTC as you hoped (from what I read, 1,000 BTC was the target).

2) When will the gaming platform actually be released?

3) Is the technical work on the coin actually done and tested? From the sound of it, it's far from it, if you're talking about making last minute changes.

4) If it turns out that the ICO isn't worth it for you (it's seeming that's a possibility), what are your thoughts on using a sidechain instead, with its value pegged to BTC? Seems that's the way things are moving. There's no benefit to your customers of having a totally independent chain and plenty of drawbacks.

Hoping BreakoutCoin isn't a BreakoutCon.

Adding to my earlier post:
Since you guys are considering possibly removal of the PoW, I hope you're also evaluating different schemes that keep some duration of PoW, but with revised rewards regarding the total emission. I think that a short PoW for a (much) smaller amount of BRO, would still be beneficial towards a healthier distribution and reaching a wider audience.

Here's just an example, please don't take these numbers too seriously.
Previously: 2 year PoW, generating 7 million BRO with Bergstake.
Updated: 1 month PoW, generating 100K BRO with Bergstake.

However dramatic the change in total BRO generated by PoW, it is proportional to the initial plan, but shorted to a month's duration of PoW. It would allow for a wider audience to take part in BRO, as long as there would be pool support to distribute Bergstake to the individual miners. As stated earlier I'm happy with removing PoW entirely. I just think that we should evaluate all options.

Perhaps a vote should be called upon before completing the ICO? Could take a snapshot of investor opinions at halfway through the ICO duration, so that there's still time for others to make up their mind after a definitive plan is known.

1)Need a specialized pool
2)Need to change the algorithm

Algo X11 - domination by miner farms (people with mining pools will be selling a lot of BRO and cheap)
You want mine only on the CPU?

Though im not fond to change the whole distribution/coin strategy, but have to say i really like this idea. That means only participants in ICO will have bergstake and therefore this is quite an incentive for early investors.

Downside? This way few whales are going to stack up big % of all coins which is not what you probably want. Especially if you d like to distribute BRO to as many people as possible. And more people have BRO more people will attract playing games on your platform. The difference with Bitcoin is that BRO has specific use which makes it special and good basis for viral adoption. I would definitely send some BRO to a friend that plays poker etc. With Bitcoin, i have to take a day off to explain them benefits and useage.

Anyway, this should be well discussed and align with your expectations with the coins use. Maybe you could still use traditional mining for 1 year – 20mil BRO and then have POS with staking.

Also, what would bergstake be staking? Transaction fees?

Definitely +1 to removing the PoW entirely.
It's great to see that the team is really listening to the feedback here, and adjusting plans as necessary/adequate.

ANNOUNCEMENT

We will be making an announcement on the state of the "coin sale" Monday morning.

On a side note, what does everyone think about removing the PoW phase and going straight to Bergstake from day one.  This will eliminate the BRO coins and Bergstake issued to the "miners" and the coin network will still be supported by the Bergstake owners.

There is 2 years of PoW coins, where will the coins go?  Will the total supply be reduced by that amount or will they be added to the ICO distribution?

The two years of PoW (7 mllion) BRO coins will be eliminated from the supply.

Removing the coins is a good option but I think it gives ICO investors more incentive if the PoW coins are added to the ICO distribution.  If we had a vote, I vote for the PoW coins being added to the ICO.

+1000

I also vote for the PoW coins to be added to the ICO.

More power to the people!

Why are you engaging people you perceive as "haters"? I'd like it much better before when you simply answered "Sorry that you don't like our project". Way classier...

I have stated before you are jumping the gun quite a bit with this otherwise excellent project: Timing is horrible. And your preparation, not having the platform ready to be seen and tested, is just inappropriate.

If I were to give you advice, I'd shelve the ICO, go back to the drawing board, apply the lessons learned and come back at a more appropriate time... just like IPOs do in the regular stock market. Proceeding ahead, as I have stated before, is setting yourselves up for a big disappointment.

I sense Jay is a ticking bomb and some of you  are engaging inappropriately and dangerously for your image. But hey, it's your project, It would be just sad to see it damaged by stooping to unnecessary levels.

I hear you again Barabbas.  Extremely rational and sensible.  Please be patient. Like I told you earlier. We have other options

Barabbas. I think you're gonna like what you here.  😉😊😃

I do indeed (like it). As a first step. Bergstake has to be explained simply and understandably and a working platform (at least for poker) needs to be made available for testing. If I undrrstand correctly, traditional mining is thus completely eliminated, right?
barabbas is here trying to tell the devs what to do as usual... I wouldn't listen to a word this guy has to say , look at his track record he goes from thread to thread spreading fud or havoc lol literally his day job, vericoin ..pinkcoin.. he's well known in most bct threads.

anyway good luck the project seems great! very big bummer barabbas is in here gonna drive people away while he tries to manipulate and destroy this brand new community Wink

considering that the removing of POW phase is just a side note, can we get any more info on the announcement, i would rather not have refunds being issued out, restart of the project, new announcement of what the coin will now do. then attempting to reinvest for a restarted 30 day counter. or radical change in plans

My point exactly.

Please DO NOT restart the 30 day counter. People do not want their BTC tied up for such a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooong period.

If it was up to me, I'd say shrink it to 7 days and you'll see the ICO funds grow much faster.

BTW, great move eliminating PoW phase & supply.

Excellent response so far for eliminating PoW.  Everyone loves Bergstake so why not get it on day 1 instead of waiting two years.

I agree restarting 30 days is out of the question.

-- Bergstake refers to the output of the coinbase transaction in a bitcoin blockchain.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Protocol_specification - search "coinbase transaction"

-- bergstake is used in proof-of-bergstake, just like stake is used in a proof-of-stake system like Nxt.
