Pretty sure that the Win plot optimiser has fubar'd my plots again.  Recommend not using.

Anyone who has used the latest cpu plotter can inform of max stagger.

Thanks

yeah the win plot is fucked up, create big stagger also, uselesses

Amph
Are you saying plotting with high stagger it is usefull?
Why you think so?
I'm replotting with 50000 stagger size with last cpu plotter... but if you explain me... I stop it.

Thanks

For the most part small miners are of the game, this coin didn't go the way Id hoped.  Servers and data centers took over.

What's wrong with getting your own server? I'm pretty sure that there was a lot of GPU buying going on when all the other coins came along. But not only GPU's, but also efficient CPU's and mobo's to support lots of GPU's. I hope you're not scared of buying a server..

As far as data centers go, I doubt it. They usually don't stock up large on HDD's, trust me, I've looked at renting high storage servers, they're all either unavailable, or waayy too expensive.

Also, running huge data center for this is a very big risk because of hard disk failure and reducing life span mining this coin 24/7.

6 months down the road. We will see how many people post their HDD die off here. We will know which brand is the best and worst  Cool

If they can't break even before hard disk eventual dead , they loss huge amount of money

i think HDD mining downside compare to GPU is the hardware turn over rate. HDD turn over rate should be 2 - 3 times higher than GPU. In longer term, HDD mining could be more expensive than GPU mining because of hard ware failure

I put my bet on seagate being able to break even before it die
seagate is the worst i ever bought. had to rma 12 of 32 hdds during the last 2 years. wd only 2 of 60.

Toshiba is the worst. Bought 6 of them once, 50% failed in under a week.

I think mining relating failed is going to be directly related to people's stagger. If plots are optimized, I doubt a single sequential read of 1/4096th of the capacity every ~4 minutes is really going to do much, but the lower stagger sizes many people are using is bad news.

There is a reason why most people are using small stagger. Because the tool available now take too much time and for some people the merge broke their plot.
No, the reason most people are using small stagger is because they couldn't be bothered to use 64-bit java. The information to use 64-bit and why was stated clearly many times before the client was even released, and most people ignored it. This capped them to ~500 instead of the 8191 the java plotter allowed which although still not great, is much better.

I am using 64 bit Java but anything above 2k stagger will crash my gpu driver. I am using NVIDIA 750 ti

What we need is a fast merge tool which can merge 5-10 Tb in less than a day. Maybe a gpu merge tool

A fast merge tool is important for miner because it help increase hardware life span in long term. The current merge tool is like the CPU plotter. Too slow for big TB. We need an upgrade

@Irontiga - where did you heard about WD being bought by Seagate or you're just joking?
The only thing I could find was a post from April 1st, which makes it invalid news...

I am using 2k stagger because I can't go any bigger for gpu plot and the merge program is taking ridiculous amount of time compare to gpu plotting. I wouldn't want to make bigger stagger with existing tool simply because it take way too much time for "optimize" many many TB. For small miner , they can play with it. But bigger miner not possible to use.

Thanks. Any body got something else they think that burst needs? (Not things we need Uray for, but rather easy things that I can do)

A chart showing the distribution of recent block winners (like this) would be useful for verifying the democratizing effect of PoC.

Either you must leave that to Uray....or....hmmm...maybe i can do...I'll try...but I don't think I'm good enough at coding yet....

Earlier model is bad. Hope they learn their lesson for newer model which is what I am using now.

Also, I don't know about other places but Seagate is cheaper than WD for 3 TB HDD (same specs) which means lesser time to break even

So after all , buying cheap coin is way better and easier than mining.

Not completely. The most efficient mining is done with hardware you'd be using even if you weren't mining, So when it comes to pure efficiency, it's hard to beat the end user using their normal computer. Granted that won't get many coins, but when the difficulty gets high enough, efficiency is what ends up mattering the most later on.

You know what this is?  Opportunity.  Opportunity for you to expand your mining farm at the best possible price and in a large way!  I will even leave the plots on them so you don't have to waste time re-plotting them! Shocked

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Seagate-Barracuda-3-TB-7200-rpm-hard-drives-FOUR-of-them-Yes-FOUR-WOW-/131301537768?

In case you missed it.......

So you're giving your wallet passcode with that bundle too then ;P
