the client appear 'checkpoint is too old...'
That's just a warning, not an error, pointing out that the last hardened checkpoint is more than 3 months old. I will probably release a new maintenance version soon.
I am also still working with bter to get CDC working again, but there have been some technical issues.

What about deposits in Bter 
I contacted bter two weeks ago to let them know of the block explorers, source availability on github, new checkpoints etc. No response. This has happened a few times now.

I think perhaps you were placing a little too much weight on the word "tonight." I'm guessing it's early morning Wednesday for you, meaning Tuesday night has concluded; but if Cryptopia is in New Zealand, Wednesday night has just begun (8:10pm now).

There are two seed nodes hardcoded into the client, so you should not need to use any addnode config, but if there's any issues, a list of current peers is available at http://www.almightycoins.org/explorer/cloudcoin/peers
