How do you claim clams?

I have btc wallet and had a ltc & doge wallet.

Thanks in advance for assistance!  Smiley

That was when the lottery was introduced so there was a hard fork IIRC. You need a wallet v4.2.1 or higher.

Bit of a strange one here. I downloaded the win client from mega, and to speed up things forced it to connect to my fully synced local node with listen=0 connect=x.x.x.x
Note the block estimate versus (single) peer height. Not sure why the estimate is about half what it should be. Once it got to 0 the progress bar disappeared, but the "(out of sync)" message was still there (presumably because the last block was far too old)
I had to allow it to connect to other peers in order to continue past block 48000.

48k is an odd block to get stuck on.... if it was 34k the reason would of coarse be obvious...

just the answer i'm lookin for......I'm stuck at 34k..what gives?

Thanks for the detailed info. I have a polo acct so ill transfer some btc and buy some clams and get to staking.

There's quite a spread between bid (0.00040031) and ask (0.00053994). If you like I can see you some CLAM at a price halfway between those two prices, with no commission. If you're interested, post here or PM me and we'll make it happen.

On another note is the lotto payouts proportional to the number of clams you have staking? Say someone with 100 clams receives a higher payout than someone with 5 clams staking.

The chance of being able to stake a block using a particular output in your wallet is proportional to the "weight" of that output, which is its value in CLAMs multiplied by its age in days. So the guy with 100 CLAMs gets to stake 20 times more often than the guy with 5 CLAMs. Each time you stake, the same calculation is done to determine how much you earn. It's independent of the age or size of the output.

The other thing to bear in mind is that there is a 4 hour waiting period before an output can stake, and those 4 hours don't count towards the age of the output when computing its weight for staking. I think that it makes sense to split your 100 CLAMs up into 20 separate addresses with 5 in each. Then when one of them stakes the other 19 continue to age, and don't have to wait for another 4 hours to get to work.

Hey guys I'm new to Clams n have been a silent reader of this thread for sometime but I'm still not sure how to even get clams or how the lottery works. I didn't have a btc address when clams launched so I don't have any if the giveaway clams. I guess I'm asking how I go about getting clams, can it still be mined or can u only but through an exchange and if so what exchanges list Clams. Thanks guys

CLAMS is a proof of stake coin. You "mine" it by just leaving your wallet program running, but you have to have some CLAMS for that to work.

All the initial CLAMS were given out to existing BTC, LTC, and DOGE holders earlier this year. There won't be any more CLAMS made now other than from proof of stake.

The lottery aspect works as follows:

You leave your wallet open, with CLAMS in it. Every second you have a tiny chance of creating the next block. Your chance is proportional to how many CLAMS you have and how old they are. When you create the block you get a reward. The reward is random, but almost always 0.1 CLAM. It can be anywhere between 0.1 CLAM and 1000 CLAM, with smaller numbers being much more common than bigger ones.

So usually you will get 0.1 CLAM each time you make a block, but occasionally you'll get several hundred CLAM.

As far as I know CLAM is only listed on https://www.poloniex.com/ where you can get around 2000 per BTC last I looked.

Phew, someone did a big sell off of CLAM today. Huge spread right now - hopefully new buy orders will appear to replace those triggered by the dump, rather than the sell orders marching downwards to match.

Did the clamshell work or has that died off with the pool?

Nice catch, I didn't realize it was fake clams!

Only the second time we have exercised the moderation function.

Nothing personal  Grin

We appreciate your choice to get involved here in the thread; hope you stick around! Grin

Thank you for the welcome to the community!

No offense taken about moderating my post, I just saw clams and assumed it was the same thing.

Mistake on my part for not checking it out more.

I have been stacking clams slowly on a windows and linux box for a few months now. I am years away from catching up to the amount of clams certain community members have.

I think the launch and even the mining option where both great ideas, although I would have integrated some kind of lottery function into the mining of the coin as well.

Having a lottery type component of clam mining would have really made it unique.

Thanks again for the welcome and I look forward to more interaction with this awesome Clam community!

Would be nice to get clams on another exchange, looks like it needs more votes here
Careful. The CLAMS listed on that page isn't the CLAMs that this thread is about.
Will the real CLAM please stand up (and give me a lottery block)!!!

Sorry, very rarely use the delete function; but that link pertains to a crypto that launched after us but neglected to bother checking for the name being in use.

Given the importance of security when it comes to proof-of-chain and the Real CLAMS, I have quoted the posts and removed the link.

Sorry!

I didn't know you could solo CLAM?

I made a bugfix months ago to stop pairs of outputs staking together. It was never accepted into the CLAM client (it would have required a hardfork). I left the code in my client, but set it not to kick in until so far into the future that it wouldn't matter (ie. block 142000)...

So about 18 hours ago my client started mining on an altcoin fork which nobody but me was using. I wasn't solo-mining CLAM, I was solo-mining DOOGCLAM (or whatever I would have called it if I hadn't killed it as soon as I realised what I was doing).

Edit: so I have 800 DOOGCLAM going cheap...

Don't worry about the question mark to the left. That just means they're mysterious, and are worth twice whatever you paid for them.

Is there a fork at the moment?
I'm seeing very low difficulty, and I'm mining all the blocks.
Edit: the fork happened at block 142000 exactly for me.
Do I need to update my client?
Edit2: never mind, I'm an idiot. I'll be back on the real chain soon...  Roll Eyes

Edit4: kind of a shame because I hit two massive lottery blocks last night. Turns out it was because I was the only one mining on my own fork of the chain...
