just got a chance to try it out and it worked!! thanks.  so now I let my coins sit in there and they gain interest.
sorry to be totally lost but whats the difference from leaving it on the exchange as opposed to in the wallet (besides exchange getting "hacked")

Nice, there is a bit more to it than just leaving your Coins in your wallet to gain interest because you also want to gain the most interest possible with your Coins. PayCon Stakes differently than other POS Coins, all Blocks you Stake will reward you 30 Coins regardless of it's size so you will want to split your Coins into Blocks of 200-1000 each so that you Stake as often as you can with the smallest amount of Blocks. If you have your Blocks less than 200 each they may end up taking 5-6 days to Stake when you  could have Staked after 2-3 days with Blocks of 300.

Best way is to Start with blocks of 500 coins each and they will likely Stake after 2-3 days depending on difficulty. The minimum age is 2 days and maximum age is 14 days, if your Blocks were very small, they might end up hitting the limit of 14 days and not Staking. There is also a combine threshold of 500 Coins and 5 days which means that if you have multiple blocks under 500 in the same address but it takes longer than 5 days for it to Stake, multiple Blocks will combine in a single Stake until over 500, plus the Stake reward.

Nice, glad you got it working Grin Much better having them in your wallet, because now you can reap the rewards of Proof of Stake. I don't know of any exchanges that give the rewards to the coin holders. Some exchanges keep the rewards for themselves  Angry. Other exchanges,such as Poloniex, modify their wallets, so they don't stake at all. Smiley

You may already know this, but just in case.
The folder that you placed the conf file in, also contains a file that is called "wallet.dat".  You should make a backup copy of this file, and save it elsewhere. I usually have at least 2 copies of every wallet.dat of each coin that I own, on usb disks and/or external hard drives. If your hard drive crashes, or gets accidentally wiped, you can restore your wallet with that file.

Putting your coins in exchange ain't a problem, but I feel that after these recent hacks that took place, I think no one should have their coins in exchanges unless they are meant to be traded in there... Anyways, putting your coins in exchanges also allows a few exchanges to stake on your coins and get rewards instead of you doing that, so it's better you put them in your wallet, stake 'em and get rewarded... Hey, thanks a lot... Even, I ain't knowing that thing... Though, my wallet was syncing and staking fine, but yesterday, it stopped syncing, so this thing helped and it's now working... Thanks again... Smiley

Does it matter that im running windows not linux?? dont know what to do with conf file i just downloaded an application file..do i have to unzip and
change a config file. Sorry if its newb and dumb but I'm brand new over here

No probs at all... Thank God you use Windows as I am also running the same and am much familiar with it...
Anyways, the answer to your question is,
1. It's an application itself, so just double-click it and it will open up the wallet.
2. Now, about the conf file... You need to go to C:\Users\"USER"\AppData\Roaming\PayCon
   (Note: AppData is a hidden folder, so you need to check "Show hidden files and folders")
Then, right-click there and create a new .txt file... After that, open it in Notepad, then copy paste the above mentioned details in it, and just change Username and password to whatever you would like, then save it... Then, just change the extension from .txt to .conf, also name the file "Paycon.conf"...
3. After that, just open the wallet again and you are good to go...
I hope it helps... Smiley

You should definitely make sure it's staking, since you just had to use 53,000CON for fundraising.  CONs don't grow on trees, and it's not like anybody is going to send you 53,000 more to that address as a donation.

Wait, someone sent me 53K as well? I just checked the Block explorer and someone also sent that amount to my address.

It's a mystery that may never be solved

Oh well

Hey I have a little experience using bootstraps as well, what we could do is see if we could load the PayCon Blockchain to a static server to pull from. What I want to see is if we could do a direct download of the entire Blockchain from a certain point in time rather than connecting to peers and downloading the Blockchain from the beginning. What this could mean is that even if you had a multi-gigabyte Blockchain that you could sync easily and quickly to other peers. I have also been looking into snapshots of balances redeemable through private keys from one Blockchain that can be imported into another Blockchain.

Lets do some crazy shit with Blockchains, maybe chuck in some torrent downloading of the Blockchain?

Sync your wallet always in 15 minutes or less? Cross-chain transfers?

If you guys want some decent forums for information, I help run colossuscointalk as well and have lots of guides and material on building and compiling in the members section away from public view.

I was banned 5 or 6 times at HT , but i have new account now Smiley

Keep up the nice work for CON

I go voting for CON now and go sleep - long shift Sad

Yeah I have been working quite a bit lately too, I have a couple things I want to try to get done over the next couple days, try to push out an update or two. Remember that this is all open source so it doesn't have to be just me working on it, this isn't a one man rules it all kind of thing, I just get along with people well Tongue

Later on if PayCon does well, I know a guy that could build an exchange for maybe 3k USD but probably the biggest focus should be on the rewards and security before anything else.

thats fine but you cannot post adress in message.. put it in signature. Do Not post asresses in messages ive heard

It's not really a problem if it's a donation/foundation address from the developer. Only a problem for giveaways. Probably not a big deal if your address was the only one posted, as long as it didn't start a trend.
This thread is stickied at the top of the Announcements section.
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/giveaway-threads-are-not-allowed-780979

Yeah it's ok to post if it's a donation fund address, the reason they have the no posting of addresses rule is when you do giveaways for people posting addresses which encourages spam. A donation fund address or proving funds going to certain address for funding is ok and needs to be allowed because transparency in regards to how funds are being used is crucial.

I'm not totally positive where the 53k to that PayCon address was sent from, I'm pretty sure it was mine I had sent to my C-Cex address in which I had sold and transferred to my BTC address in my signature. I changed the PayCon address anyhow so keep it more separate, for the most part people don't really donate too much for development and will check through my wallets and see if I come across the balance.

Anyways, I have 0.29 BTC so far collected and will make up the remainder tomorrow (from new funds, not sale of CON) and get started with the new DNS seeder and new wallets.

I am also working on coding for some new features but that will take a little time so have no definite ETA on it, just trying to work on it as much and as quickly as possible.

On a side note I think popcon was banned again Sad that guy definitely needs some PayCon for his troubles.

Lots of people are new, so trying to help everyone learn more and be more self sufficient. I have a small guide in the second message on the thread and also in the process of setting up a new DNS seeder (hosting doations for it and some new wallets) which would allow you to sync without needing the .conf file

Quote
Go to Control Panel
In the Search box, type Folder
Click "Folder Options"
Click the tab that says View
Make sure there is no check in the box for "Hide file extensions for known file types" (de-select this option and click OK)
Exit Control Panel

On Windows 8, right-click the start button and select "Run"
(for Windows 7, left-click the start button and type "run" into "Search Programs and Files", then click Run at the top of the list)
In "Run", type %appdata% and press Enter
You should see the folder located at Appdata/Roaming
Open the PayCon folder
Right-click and Create New File - create a new Text document
Open the document with Notepad
Paste the following into the file: (but put a username and password instead of "username" and "password)

listen=1
daemon=1
rpcuser=*yourusername*
rpcpassword=*yourpassword*
rpcport=9456

Save the file.
Re-name the document PayCon.conf (filetype .conf, not .txt)
Restart your PayCon wallet.

Fair warning, everyone. I went through the wallet I thought was the address I had posted as the donations wallet and may have accidently deleted it. I will keep searching and hopefully I didn't but will have to change my donations address.

You can view the wallet here PSnReTt7VjcVPDUc8h4V5P2DsLE9ppGrSd

As far as I can tell, someone sent 53,000 to the donations wallet as well and it my have gone to an unspendable address (oops) I seriously have like 20 wallets so not sure if it was my c-cex address I had and I sent the 53k but thought it was one I had as a locked backup.

I'll see if I can get a friend to help me with escrow and will let you guys know if I find the wallet, until then I'm changing the donation address to PW9hzejCfxJ2ogwuvBeNJHUFQbj7svkebm which is a separate C-Cex account.

I have been very busy with work the past 4-5 days (I work a full-time job as well) and trying to get everything done I possibly can in the some 4 hours a day I have to work on the project so please bear with me.
