surprised to see none of the investors posted here about what happened. It seems the dev team split up or something and they took the ICO funds to start a new project, in other words they stole ICO funds and ditched this project for a new one.

I can confirm this. One of them is still living in Indianapolis together with his elderly granny and two twin sisters. Another guy moved to paris, and started a new firm with karpeles, that was later rebranded to Crypto Incubator. One year has passed since they developed a new business model for their Incubator, and both guys are still working to enhance it even further.
