If you're technically adept, and have a good hashrate to throw at it, then take a stab at solo mining CSC with either CSC or WDC pools set up as failovers. I got it finished on my Debian Linux mining rig an hour or so ago and already hit my first block. Bonuses: you're only dependent on your local connection, and you get to keep the whole block reward  Smiley

I am technically adept to setup a solo miner... A geek and a techie by life and by trade.  Tongue I've been seriously tempted to do this - but with only one 7970 and the sharp increase in difficulty I've been wondering whether it's still worth it? I've even considered creating a private pool - but don't really want to step on anyone else's toes (and can also see the hard work that these guys put in - I don't know whether I've got the time to dedicate to be honest for that idea!).

I'm hoping santa brings me a shiny new 290 or 290x - so I'm thinking that the solo miner route is the way to go, hopefully difficulty in two weeks time will keep it worth it. Worse case is that I drop back to using a pool. :-)

This will NOT affect payouts whatsoever !!!
Hi ajochems.... Is there any news? Just seen this and my miner's been working and getting shares accepted without problems... Payouts stopped about almost 4 hours ago though.... :-(

I just wanted to thank ajochems - I woke up to your pool being back, and I can see that a nice big payment came into my wallet from your pool overnight. Thanks for the work and effort dude!

Great news Rendering - glad you've got things sorted, know the reasons and are introducing the cap to what your hardware can handle so that things run smoothly. I can only imagine that you've had a stressful few days, thanks for the effort and handwork you've put in for us miners! Smiley

I'm only at 700 KH/s until my PSU arrives, do you think I'd get enough?

With one 7970, this is what I've been pondering too. Looking at CoinWarz.com it's still showing 219 coins per 24 hours for 640Kh/s - so that's just over 4 blocks? There has been a rise in difficulty and I suppose it's the two great unknowns that could affect that further - another influx of mining power causing an increase of difficulty and the luck of the draw in finding blocks...

Current network hash rate is around 525,000 KH/s
Your hash rate is 700KH/s
With average luck you can expect to solve 700/525,000 = 1 in every 750 blocks
Target block time is 30 seconds
Average luck would yield 1 block per (750 x 30) = 22,500 seconds = 375 minutes = 6h 15m
Call it 4 blocks per day = 200 CSC x 0.0000595 (current best bid on Cryptsy) = 0.0119 BTC per day

At 700KH/s though you can expect massive variance.

I've been mining casinocoin for a few hours. At first I was receiving bits of coin every minute or so, but for the last hour I haven't gotten anything. I tried a few of the P2Pools with the same result. Any ideas what's going on?

Dude, why not just solo mine this one? The diff is low enough. WHy bother with pools until the diff goes way higher and the pools work out their issues?

Have been in contact with other p2pool operators who may be opening up additional public Casinocoin p2pool nodes soon. Unfortunately and perhaps unintentionally it looks like http://casinocoin.mooo.com:8840/ has broken off on it's own  Sad
The break up was intentional, for now. Currently the difficulty is still so low that sharing one p2pool didn't feel ideal. Also I'm trying to see what are the ideal parameters for such a fast coin. I'm not going to stay as an lonely island forever, just for a little while.
One thing that I've noticed that is pretty annoying is constantly changing share difficulty. Example:

Dragon695: That is why some miners like to set their share difficulty manually. A p2pool node sets the difficulty based on the load. If the node your on has a high hash rate it will provide your miner with a hash rate based on the load. This may be way too high for lower hash rate miners.

I will post this section of the FAQ for you to reference:
Quote
Q: Can I set my own share difficulty?
A: You can set the level of difficulty sent to your miner by appending a difficulty setting to your wallet address.

To set the difficulty for your specific hash rate multiply by 0.00000116
For example, if your miner is capable of 1440 Kh/s:

1440 * 0.00000116 = 0.0016704

Example Connection String for a miner capable of 1440 Kh/s:

cgminer -o stratum+tcp://dgc.xpool.net:8810 -u DTWPTRSi9HoLh69NPd2fbDWUGHrx1nLdmk+0.0016704 -p password --scrypt

The following difficulty settings can be used as a guide:

Kh/s        Difficulty
1           +0.00000116
50          +0.000058
100         +0.000116
250         +0.00029
500         +0.00058
750         +0.00087
1000        +0.00116
1500        +0.00174
1750        +0.00203
2000        +0.00232

Can this formula be used and then appended to any username for any pool? or just p2pool accounts?

Also, can this be appended to your username in your conf file in order to use it for solo mining?  If not, is there a way to decrease difficulty as a solo miner?

Please be very careful when changing parameters and connecting to other p2pool nodes! If you try to reconnect you MUST delete the casinocoin folder in the p2pool data folder and all the parameters MUST match the other nodes. I do not know your level of experience so I wanted to caution you. If you know what your doing then please accept my apology. I would hate to see the entire Casinocoin p2pool taken down unintentionally.

URGENT UPDATE~~~  http://casinocoin.coinarmy.com

Ok guys I have figured out what is going on and fixed it for now. We where maxing out our systems because of our Member growth. We have just upgraded to a system that will only support 80 Active minners. This is for now.

Currently you cannot see the new site because the IP changed and the DNS is propagating. So be patient.

For now you can view the website directly here: http://162.243.105.94

You have to change your miner config to point to the new IP --scrypt  -o stratum+tcp://162.243.105.94:3333 -u Weblogin.Worker -p Worker password

Now with that being said we can only accept 80 active miners. Once we hit 80 active miners registration is closed until we can get some more servers built.

Today we hit 75 active miners dso it is going to hit 80 anytime.

We also have to dump a lot of money into this, but we think its worth it. If any of you can donate it would be greatly appreciated as this is turning out to be a HUGE financial burden... I talking 1000's of USD per month. But one we are willing to take! We are just asking for some help back from you guys. You can change the donation % in your account. I have been busting my ass and not sleeping to get this going for everyone. Cheesy

Ok so now we have smooth sailing to 80 active miners and I will keep it smooth by closing registration at that point. Cheesy

Here is our server setup:

-Stratum
-VARDIFF
-Every 1 Min block stats update
-Every 10 Seconds Dashboard Stats update
-Instant payout once a block is confirmed
-Block finder bonus (0.5 CSC bonus for finding a block)
-PPLNS
-Payouts every 1 minute
-Dedicated Staff (We are here everyday for you)

Thanks for your ongoing support. I am continuing to work very hard at this for all of us.

Now come join the CoinArmy!    Cool

VARDIFF doesn't seem to be working.  I just mined for a little bit with 2750 Kh/s and it never increased past a difficulty of 2.

I'm more than a little frustrated with trying to mine CSC....

On CoinWarz.com it shows as being variably from 50 % to 100% more profitable than mining WDC over the past 2 and a half days.... Whilst that may be true, I've had to switch back to mining WDC for now due to the complete instability of CSC pools/P2Pools.

Unfortunately, at the moment, all the pools and P2Pool nodes I use either keep going down constantly, or just stop paying out - even if shares are bing accepted, WU is good, stales are low, etc. The trouble is that every night I've gone to bed, or during the day I've gone out - everything looks sweet... And then I just stop getting payouts.

I'm really hoping that you guys can get everything nice and stable though - I really do want to mine CSC again! I don't know if there's much I can do to help any of you, but if there is then please let me know! Thanks again for all of your hard work! :-)

Ditto to everything that you said, and especially the quoted parts. I had the same frustrations, so I initially set CGMiner up to failover to WDC pools if (or more likely when) something went wrong with the CSC pools. There's really no excuse for the pools to be constantly crashing under 30-40MH/s of load.

If you're technically adept, and have a good hashrate to throw at it, then take a stab at solo mining CSC with either CSC or WDC pools set up as failovers. And then I just stop getting payouts.

At first I thought it was me... But I'm able to mine WDC, SBC and LTC without issue... Even using Cartman's other P2Pool nodes.

Almost every time I've seen issues there have been posts on here, or news banners on sites saying that there are issues with the various pools and P2Pool nodes. There are generally reassurances that all payouts will be okay, miners will rejoin automatically, etc... But unfortunately this hasn't been my experience. Sometimes my one, lonely, miner has automatically reconnected, and sometimes payouts have resumed - others they haven't though.

I've also noticed that switching between nodes - unfortunately - hasn't seemed to keep my payout level. When I do so, I've had to wait an hour or so and then payouts start coming in at a low level, and build... Until the payouts stop generally a few hours later.

Apart from the occasional reboot and to switch my miner manually, I've been attempting to mine CSC pretty constantly for the past 2 and a half days. With my hash rate and difficulty CoinWarz predicted I should generate 747 coins when I looked 2 and a half days ago. 24 hours later it said I should generate around 500 coins, 24 hours later around 340 coins and now 242 coins. So even if I take 500 coins for the first 24 hour period, 340 for the second and then 121 for the last 12 hours - that's a total of 961 CSC. In reality because of Pool issues I've actually received just 286.55 CSC.

As I've put further up this post I've switched back to mining WDC for the moment - this seems to be stable (on several pools or on Cartman's P2Pool node). It is currently around 50% less profitable to mine that CSC according to CoinWarz.com - but the coins generated do match those predicted, and the payouts keep coming so for me I'm finding that WDC is actually 100% more profitable than mining CSC (right at this moment).

Please don't take this the wrong way - I'm not having a go at nor am I criticising any pool operator or P2Pool node operator. I haven't tried every P2Pool node either. I am grateful for the hard work that the pool operators and P2Pool node operators put in to provide us with a service. I'm not accusing anyone of foul play or anything like that... More just sharing my frustration. I understand fully that pool operators and P2Pool node operators are probably just as frustrated as me as this will affect them also - likely more so! Their miners are likely to be affected, and if we're not mining on their pools successfully then they're not getting fees.

I'm really hoping that you guys can get everything nice and stable though - I really do want to mine CSC again! I don't know if there's much I can do to help any of you, but if there is then please let me know! Thanks again for all of your hard work! :-)

www.megamineros.com/CSC is going down for an hour !!

Due to the ever increasing user count we need to do some maintenance to the server. Especially MySQL is causing very high cpu load. We are going to load balance the MySQL database to reduce the server load and increase webserver speed. Please do not leave our pool as we are mining a lot! Maximum down time estimated at 1 hour or till 20:00 EST. Allthough i hope we are only again sooner. First we will bring down the website, and keep the downtime for the CasinoCoin Deamon as small as posible so you can continu mining.

This will NOT affect payouts whatsoever !!!

Hi ajochems.... Is there any news? Just seen this and my miner's been working and getting shares accepted without problems... Payouts stopped about almost 4 hours ago though.... :-(

I am not receiving a confirmation email from the forum when I sign up.  If there's not much content on there, you may want to just start from scratch.  It's going to be impossible to clean up the spam.  Or just link to the casinocoin.org forum as the official forum when it launches and take the burden off yourself so you can work on development.

One thing that I've noticed that is pretty annoying is constantly changing share difficulty. Example:

Instead of sending a work restart/share diff change every 5-10 seconds, maybe cap it to a min of 45 seconds. I am pretty sure that having to do these computations for every miner so often is what is causing load issues, not to mention it increases the likelihood of stales.
