there are plan to change the algo to avoid asic raping this in the future, because x11 asic are already a reality, or nothing will be done?
From the developer:
"Another very important point to make about the Satoshi Roundtable was the very large issue with mining centralization in the Bitcoin space. When Satoshi originally invented Bitcoin, he did not anticipate the excessive mining centralization that has become a dominant force in the Bitcoin space. Due to this, we now have a small group of people that literally control the protocol consensus and their short term interests may be in conflict with the long term interests of other stakeholders, industry, users, etc. We definitely do not want our ecosystem to follow the same failed course and we definitely would have under the pooled ASIC mining paradigm. This is mainly because there are differences in efficiency that a miner can gain depending on where they live, which can give a huge advantage when their higher investment returns are compounded. Efficiencies such as cheaper labor, cheap or free electricity and even withholding newer advanced ASICs for their own mining operations, then selling them after they become less effective. After many iterations of these phenomenon in BTC we have come to a situation where the ones who have access to these advantages effectively control Bitcoin.

"After hours of discussions, we believe we have found the solution to the unfair mining advantages that produce centralization around certain jurisdictions that control the production of ASICS. We will be releasing much more information about this soon, but are feverishly working on this project for v12.1. We’re going to be releasing much more information about this in the coming weeks; it’s going to be a giant advantage for the Dash project."

no problems on my side  Huh

ok cool. it just freezes for a few seconds and then works again then freezes up again. i checked it on a few other coins with the same results. i figured it was just overloaded from bots or something.

Wow.  That is some incoherent nonsense that you're throwing about.  Do you work for the IRS?  The government bureaucrats who write the US Tax Code would be proud of you.   Grin

Dash has almost as much active nodes (masternodes + active wallets) as Bitcoin

Dash   4125
Bitcoin 5540

Give it another year and by then the bitcoin blockchain will make more people drop their full nodes. Having a blockchain around 100+ GB isn't something to keep on your laptop just for the fun of it. I'll say that the trend of declining BTC nodes and Dash picking up more will continue and that we will probably pass bitcoin in 2017?
Node count was actually more or less stable last year https://bitnodes.21.co/dashboard/?days=365 But I guess node count is irrelevant for Bitcoin now. Because of the blockchain pruning introduced in Bitcoin Core (it allows you to keep as little as 512mb of latest blocks iirc) I think many nodes could be actually pruned nodes and not real full-nodes. So Bitcoin node count could stay the same or even rise a bit imo because now it depends on how much/expensive bandwidth will be, not the storage.

Hello iCETARD. Still waiting for your COLLAPSE prediction to come true. Unless you meant Dash collapsing from $6.60 to $7.35.

If not, you're disappointing me.

It's really fun to see how hard your FUD fails considering the fact that this post still applies one month later.

Oh and so does this, haha: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.14409687

PS:
Another thing we're all still waiting for:

Still waiting iCEHOLE, still waiting:

ICEBREAKER, buddy, I still need your help. Please de-anonymize this transaction that was obscured by the "flawed CoinJoin implementation" that has "not been peer-reviewed" and help me to figure out the source address of these funds! The good news is that it only went through four rounds of this "DarkSend," so it will be orders of magnitude easier to figure out than if it had been through all eight. Thank goodness for small miracles!

Please help me figure this out! It's URGENT!!!

Dash De-anonymization Contest

Icebreaker and other trolleros: I have donated $1 to Monero's development team. I sent 0.25 Dash (TX ID: 59d51690d4b56ddbf1e393fa8d3a49bcfc3247f270f36be3b6ee411802666cba-000) to shapeshift.io, which converted it to Bitcoin and sent it to the official Monero donation address listed at https://getmonero.org/getting-started/donate/.

I challenge you to de-anonymize this transaction. To make it just a little easier, I only used four rounds of Darksend, so it's exponentially less private than it would be with the maximum eight rounds.

Please tell me what address this transaction originated from.

Cheers!

What's the source address? I know you can do it!

Crypto is the separation of Power and State.
Anybody notice all the commotion on dash forums? Seems like we got quite a few upset individuals about the DGBB system. Trying to get a better idea of what's going on if anybody has any insights.

"Distributed Governance By Blockchain" was always a hopeless pipe dream at odds with the actual reality that Duffield 100% controls Dash.

The recursive "reinvent all the things, with moar shiny blockchains and trendy decentralizations" was never going to lead anywhere but endless frustration.

Unlike an open-ended, pay-what-you-want project funding system, Dash's centralized, inflationary budget blocks create a zero-sum outcome where the incentive structure requires successful proposals to defeat other ones in order to be funded.  That's a recipe for conflict.

Quote

Yes, only a hard fork away from Duffield, secret X11 ASIC mines, THE DARKCOIN FOUNDATION, INC., and the [problematic early emission] can save this project.

That's why Dash Classic is being implemented as a Bitcoin side chain.  It will enjoy all the benefits of Dash's masternode tier and Bitcoin's POW network, without the burden of fake "DGBB" gimmicks and legacy of snake oil marketing.

Wasssssup!
Firefox has been doing weird stuff.... so does windows 10...

I would suggest Chromium Browser in Ubuntu Linux

or Lubuntu Linux for a snappy OS on older PC's.

dash GPG pubkey marked as harmful? or just me?  Huh Huh
Code:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dashpay/dash-binaries/master/pgp/holger-darkcoin-qa.asc

Firefox complained for me too but that's a false positive imo - it's the same pgp pubkey as it was (verified via my local gpg keychain)
