I think the cans need to go. It gets the point across with out them and this really is a cool idea.

I do think future budgeting shouldn't include marketing though. This is a slippery slope. Maybe when the Market cap is X size we no longer use funds for this type of activity. On the flip side, if we try to make marketing donations based, it will probably fail. I know from first hand experience with bitcoin and a failed billboard project.

Just some random thoughts :p

That's a different point of view.  For me, marketing is #2 behind core development in importance, and that's only now.  In the future, it could very well become #1, with development slowing down and eventually becoming maintenance.  In fact, I hate to see any funds go unused in the available budget, but we do lose many coins each month due to no proposals.  Of course, someone has to have a great idea to propose, and we've had many, so I'm not really complaining, other than I wish those lost coins could be tapped in the future, but alas...

A company has basic expenses, and marketing is one of the biggest so I can't see why it shouldn't be part of the budget system.  Development (or product building or the physical work required to ship and sell products), Marketing, Financial management, HR and Legal.  Am I missing something?  But that's basically the things a company must pay for, no matter their trade.  Thus it should all be on the table for budget distribution Smiley

Does anyone know what they're talking about here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/bitcoinmini/comments/3qre54/why_are_regular_full_nodes_responsible_for/

What is high speed CDNs?  I guess it's used for a "mini"?  I don't know what that is either?  Smiley  Is it special technology? or something all masternodes could use?

Also, maybe more types of cans?  It depends of course on how many different types of sodas the machine can dispense...

If DASH isn't over 1M sat by weeks end I will be very surprised. Its pretty much one a small handful of coins that actually deserves to be worth 'real cash'. Everything else is just hyped up pump n dumps for speculators - useless tokens that can and often do crash 90% in a day when the dev pulls the plug or dumps the lions share of the supply for whatever he can get.

At one stage I had 3300 DRK back in March 2013 - although I haven't got anything like that now - Its good be back in DASH in a big way Smiley

This isn't just a marketing piece.  We are designing the software for point of sale.  It will enable any new device to easily adapt the github packages.  Moocowmoo has done an awesome job with coding all of this.  Point of sale is what sets Dash apart form the Bitclones....This is what we need!

Key features added so far:

  • Ability to refund over/under payments automatically(no return address needed)
  • Detect InstantX payments
  • Ability to accept InstantX payments and reject standard payments.
  • BIP chain address control
  • Changing address and QR code for each transaction.
  • Activate relay or output for vending type device/gas pump/etc.

We added another video to www.dashndrink.com showing relays and the new screen.  Good stuff.

Yes same comparaison with the number of masternodes in january 2015 and january 2016

This is a graph that monitors the growth of masternodes over time.

2015-01-01-00:00:01 : 1662 Masternodes

2016-01-01-00:00:01 : 3427 Masternodes

Quantum entangled and jump drive assisted messages
As we can see in terms of active nodes Dash is the only network comparable to Bitcoin and way ahead of Litecoin.
I did a Tao sync ratio and blockchain time check for litecoin to check out for comparision and it would not reliably lock onto the seed nodes, I was updating literally from only 1 node at the 17-26 minutes point, after this long I should have had many peers.

Had to repeat the result 3 times to get a result I felt was fairly consistent (the others were all worse times)
So the entire litecoin blockchain best result for 4 years,9 weeks and 5 days = 1 hour and 18 minutes
And the Tao sync ratio = 0.2144 seconds per hour of update.

For the amount of transactions litecoin does, this was a impressively high Tao sync ratio but the peers seriously let down the wallet function, I even had to restart it a few times.
(The worst litecoin update for the entire blockchain was over 5 hours! It seemed to be stuck on bad/slow peers for ages)

Try it yourself and see if you get a different result..

Yes same comparaison with the number of masternodes in january 2015 and january 2016

This is a graph that monitors the growth of masternodes over time.  Now remember that there is a hard limit at the moment in the number of masternodes that can exist that is basically:

Max number of masternodes  = coinsupply/1000 or about 6100 masternodes at the moment. So we could not possibly double again.

The goal of establishing the masternode network  was to build our network infrastructure to the point where it is comparable to Bitcoin's and is capable of providing real services to people in a reliable way.  We have accomplished that already and the masternode count may continue to grow at a slower pace than in 2015 just because there is a hard cap.

In my opinion, our business development focus for this coming year should be in building up the financial infrastructure, reliable fiat exchanges, market making, brokerage, more options to buy/sell Dash, etc. This layer is extremely important so that potential end user services have a safe and reliable way to clear transactions.

Once a more robust financial infrastructure layer is in place, I think we can start to see real day to day services come up. Imagine InstantX low cost remittances using Lamassu machines between territories that have a strong need for this. We will be able to do all kinds of things once we have a stronger financial layer, so that should be our focus for 2016 from a business development perspective. While of course at the same time we continue technical research and development for Dash Evolution. My point is there is a lot of value in already deployed technology that we need to take advantage of today.

If we are talking about active peering nodes that have connections open this site counts them as:....As we can see in terms of active nodes Dash is the only network comparable to Bitcoin and way ahead of Litecoin.

Thanks ! I've corrected my post as you requested.

Ah. Thanks.

I didn't realise that site did all the alts as well.

EDIT:

-snip-

Not really, please make a correction on your post. We have to use the same site to compare.

If we are talking about active peering nodes that have connections open this site counts them as:

https://bitinfocharts.com/darkcoin/nodes-active/

DASH: 3668

https://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/nodes-active/

Bitcoin: 4495

https://bitinfocharts.com/Litecoin/nodes-active/

Litecoin: 801

You were looking at not seeding nodes on Dash and comparing them to seeding nodes on Bitcoin.

Also each site sees a different footprint of the network, so I am not sure how reliable comparing between sites is. I would not take bitinfocharts info as final. What is interesting in my opinion is to look at the deltas between crypto currencies from the same site.

As we can see in terms of active nodes Dash is the only network comparable to Bitcoin and way ahead of Litecoin.

Also did you have the number of MasterNode on the  1st Jan 2015 in comparasion with today 1st Jan 2016 : 3425 ?
This also show strong support from comunity/users.

Looks like it was around 1500 according to this so it's more than doubled.

b.t.w. where can we monitor Dash network total full nodes ?

It is now exactly 1 year since I set up my first masternode.

These have kept on coming all year...

...and during that time Dash has gained around 30% on BTC which in turn gained around 70% on the US Dollar.

So I'm saying 2015 worked out as far as that one goes. (Sure did better than oil anyway   Shocked  )

It was definitely a good year, another way of looking at this is looking at historical snapshots from coinmarketcap.com, they are super interesting to look at how things played out in reality vs the commentary and discussion that was happening in the forums at the time.

I am very excited about 2016 and everything the Dash team and community can accomplish this year. 2015 was an amazing year, from acquiring Dash.org, to our first conferences to the Lamassu integration it was really a great year and only a sample of what we will be able to do going forward.

PS: I suggest updating the stats in your sig with the new 0.9 XMR binaries released today

BTC is also at 0.11.2, I think it had some small improvements in 0.1 and 0.2.

Want privacy? Use Monero!
Btw, talking of scaling and bitcoin wallet transaction usage with update times, I did a recent Tao ratio, to gauge where its heading and how the blockchain is updating with the seed peers.

3rd August 2015, bitcoin v.0.11.0

Tao sync ratio = 4.144 seconds per hour of wallet behind

22nd December 2015, bitcoin v.0.11.0

Tao sync ratio = 6.625 seconds per hour of wallet behind

Conclusion

Bitcoin is now updating 59.87% slower than it was only 5 months before.
This is to be expected as the number of transactions has more than doubled but does not bode well for the future as user takeup increases.
It may be pointed out that updating maxes out the bandwidth and memory of fairly high spec machines as well.

Seriously, you are pointing out yourself how DUMB your Tao ratio stats are...

BTC is used more than DASH, that is the whole f*cking reason why the DASH "Tao ratio" is a lot "better" than the BTC tao ratio.
The way DASH is designed will make DASH scaling a lot WORSE than BTC because the "pre mixing" is a HUGE burden on the DASH network if it would be used very actively.
Hence, the DASH network isn't used at all at the moment (and rightfully so).

PS: I suggest updating the stats in your sig with the new 0.9 XMR binaries released today
The XMR "tao ratio" is completely outdated.
Quote
Monero (v.0.41.1)  = Tao sync ratio = 14.2 seconds / hour of update
Not that I care about your stats at all anyway.
