The development plan seems to promise so much that is almost unbelievable given that in crypto a lot of the things we are dealing with are compromises: If you fix something, you break something else (make it operate in a non-optimal way). If even half of what is promised can be delivered without compromising security, decentralization, etc, it'll be great.

The entirety of Crystallographic currency has been based on a single layer network.  I think making a two tier network has opened tons of doors.  That and now, using quorums to split the tasks has simply empowered an already super healthy Masternode Network possibly eventually over 1000 fold (currently, what? 660 fold?) over "traditional" ways.

So, IMO, it's not magic, it's simply harnessing ideas from other walks of technology for use in cryptographic currencies.  Bitcoin hasn't done anything, really, NOTHING since I got here in December 2013.  They may have cleaned up the code, made the wallet work smoother, but have introduced nothing structurally new that a person like me can see.  I know you coders can appreciate whatever they did do.  And I'll admit, my wallet did download in a couple of days recently rather than 3 weeks, like it took the first time I tried, but frankly that's boring.

The technology that the Dash team are introducing isn't mumbo jumbo, it isn't untested.  Sure it may be untested in this type of use, but it has been tested in other uses and reviewed and shown to work so why not in this instance?

Anyway, Just saying, no magic here, only thinking outside the box and doing research.  In other words, hard work with clear goals and an abundance of intelligence and wisdom.

Nice!

Good to see that someone has finally been picking up the ideas of Datacoin and went forward.
You mean DigiByte?

He means Datacoin an old coin from 2013 that experimented with decentralized storage I don't think is still going though. Why would he mean DigiByte? I don't remember that having any sort of technical improvements.

WOW
- I especially love this ""combined with our decentralized storage mechanism we can enable large scale support of user-based storage. This means our users data will live on the network and they can jump from their android Dash wallet, to a browser-based Dash wallet without losing information about their transaction histories, friends or private messages."

To be fair to rpietila, I've never seen him engage in anything other than relevant, civilised and useful discourse so I wouldn't lump him in with the 'usual suspects' that visit this thread.
Yes but WTF are they doing here?

I have revived my interest in DASH after realizing that my own project, Crypto Kingdom, has some similar challenges with the consensus and database that have been already handled here.

That is great to hear, I have being following the development of Crypto Kingdom and while I am not a gamer myself I like the fact that it starts with a use case and then builds the technology back from there, better than developing technology and figuring out the use case later in my opinion.

I know nothing about the online video game industry though so would not know how to grow the user base.

Yeah. I previously regarded Evan's and jl777's work as not solid enough for a new paradigm financial system. It seemed that they were rather a web of twists and turns. Not serious enough to be taken seriously. Now I find myself developing a game, which, of course is not intended to be taken seriously because it is a game! And I am copying many things, especially from jl777, but from other sources as well including financial history of previous centuries. Our game database is also not anonymous, actually the opposite - we are currently in so early stage that the ownerships ingame are transparent. It is possible to learn from many sources.

My understanding is that Coinmine changed their address and the site has not updated. So it is part of the "unknown" here.... a large part of it. If the current network total of 65GH/s is correct (http://dashnodes.com/index/charts/) then Coinmine is around 52% overall.

Hmmm. I wonder if they did that to get rid of the GTA miner. If so, it doesn't seem to have worked.

Coinmine.pl isn't included in that graph and is thus probably part of unknown. Coinmine.pl has ~34 GH/s, so if anyone knows the total hashrate you could substract their part.

This is A Dash topic. Stay on topic. If you want to discuss alt coins go to their topic. It is really sweet to read al the noise from marketcap babies, and I get it Dash is so cool you want to be with us, but no need to spend 5 pages on it. Silence is best. Discussing evolution and Dash is even better.

For all new readers www.dashtalk.org it is where the real discussions take place.
