When doing "masternode winners 2000 | grep XAddr" with my last paid 6d13h9m16s node I get no result. What does that mean?

Also, is the 'Current Rank' info at http://www.dashnodes.com/ correct? Because there this node is at rank 2522 whatever this means.

Wow, 3053 masternodes with 3053 unique IP addresses.  I'm seriously impressed.  And each one should still be getting at least 15% a year


I think something was changed at cryptsy, and it doesn't work correctly on bitcoinwisdom anymore.  Bitcoinwisdom's author has been missing for a while and nothing has been upgraded for many months now.  I still can get DRK/BTC but not DRK/USD and people outside the USA have trouble logging into any cryptsy charts.  We really do need a new place to go.  Does anyone know of a good chart site?  Thanks!

How does the decentralized masternode payment system work?

Each time a block is generated on the network, there is a voting process that begins which all masternodes take part in. All masternodes begin the process by deterministically figuring out if they're part of the sub-quorum for the next block that needs to be voted on. Sub-quorums within the network are 10 masternodes and randomly pick masternodes for each block (in a deterministic, tamper proof way).

Next if a masternode is selected it goes through the  following very complex process to pick the winner. First it will look at every masternode on the network and get the last paid time, according to the masternode list. "LastPaid" according to this process means a node has at least 2 votes for a given block. Notice there are ten votes total, so it's actually possible for up to 5 nodes to be flagged as "Paid" from a given block. This allows the network to quickly solve disagreements about the order in which nodes should get paid, then establish a permanent payment cycle. However, the downside is, it's possible to have a payment skipped when the cycle is getting established.

Second, the masternodes are then added to a list by last paid, then 10% of that list that was paid the furthest in the past is eligible for payment each block. At this point, the masternode with the highest score (deterministically again) is the one that nodes will vote for. This means there's really no order of payment each block, each masternode will simply remain in this winning queue until it randomly gets picked. Currently on average it would take 4.68 days to get into the eligible queue, then you have a 1 in 300 chance of being selected each block. This means on average the nodes should stay eligible for 3/4 a day before finally getting paid, but that could actually take longer if unlucky.

To determine if you were skipped you can do a "masternode winners 2000 | grep XAddr" from a linux console to find every time you were seen in the list. If you see >=2 votes and are not the winner, then you were super unlucky. Otherwise if you're in the list and it's going past 6 days, it would be the later situation, where you're eligible and just temporarily unlucky. There's also a third option, if you issue a "masternode start" from the cold node, you will reset your queue position.

When a miner pays a masternode, it will select the entry with the highest votes from the network. That's also the node that will get enforced for payment. This was quite difficult to write, but has worked great (although is somewhat resource intensive).

"Etherium casino" - with its 30x times higher volume - has been played out already. I think the volume / price movements point to an underlying weakness in this project, something I hammered on so many times before, that no one seems to be willing to mull over.

And if the price goes to 0.015 everyone will forget about it and yell "to the Moon" and similar nonsense. IMHO - it is perfectly clear, since the demise of Darkcoin and its potential, DASH has only one avenue and that's fighting Bitcoin with a goal of replacing it.

A far cry, granted, but unless Bitcoin is removed from DASH - BTC - fiat (fiat - BTC - DASH) equation we'd linger in the cyberspace as a toy of dozen or several hundred members of a lunatic fringe and only the stamina of the development team will define the project's future.

Somebody appears to need money and has been liquidating their assets for unknown reasons. They wait for sufficient liquidity around 1 and then cash out ~1000 Dash at a time (occasionally multiples). This has been going on for the best part of a week or two. It has been a precise and consistent action - who knows when they will be done. Must be a fairly big player.

It may be that that person's after one of these.

Tok, I'm curious about your chart tech analyses:

a) do you really think charts make sense given such a thin trading volume?
b) if so, what the charts are telling you? Can this thing really go down to, say, 0.0065? (it was around December 2014 when the price was at that level, with BTC at about $340.00)

Don't worry, I'm not looking for a trading / investing advice. I simple can't see a thing in the price movements, no pattern... (but a long, long decline I do not understand either)

That really depends though on either the troll himself having a sense of humor (a very very rare quality these days among trolls)
or the troll unintentionally just getting funny in their deadserious efforts to discredit Dash in any way possible.
