We seem to have effected a change of heart. All those previous postings a few pages back about the censorship and the fact that our discussions about the situation in Greece and the EU are on-topic for this Dash thread have been left alone. Thank goodness (and thank you mod for the rethink if that's what's occurred).

That's great!  Gotta go see if Tok's posts are back (slips away)

I'm actually relieved that it looks like they're going to leave us alone.  I like it that we're a stable coin, and think it will do us in good stead in the long run when it comes to real adoption.  We really need to stay out of that BTCe exchange.  They seem to be market manipulators, and it would really hurt DASH IMHO if we ended up there.  Thank goodness they ask for a huge deposit to be on their exchange.  That's a #1 sign that they're a tool, not an honest exchange.

That`s why I`d really like to know if that chinese guy is really talking about DASH in that video.

PS:
Does anyone know what the chinese name of DASH is?

达世币

Edit:
I checked with alexy (Chinese Dash Ambassador)
regarding that video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVsWQa9qKnk
his answers:
- If it's a Chinese who uploaded it on YT, then we have Nothing to worry, 95%area of China cannot use YouTube
so it is fake
- I don't know what their plan is. it's just something we have to face, like happened in BTC. is good news because we are getting better and better, catching some sort of attention? whether good or bad ones.   Chinese are simple, they may be tricked by those fraud. And because of naive, when DASH raise up, they gonna buy it anyway

Thank you!
But does the chinese guy mention DASH or not? A friend of mine knows some chinese and he says "No", but he is not sure as he does not know the chineses name of DASH.

So I stupidly sent my coins to an old Bitfinex address.  It hasn't arrived in my account, and I did it many hours ago.  I wrote to them.  Do you think that they will give them back?  I wonder how my coins could go to the account number I sent it to and then go directly into one of their other accounts all in one block?  That is, they cleaned out the account (transferred the funds) all within one block and I didn't use instantX?

Damn, sorry to hear that  Sad  Finex seems somewhat adamant on their Announcement page:

"... At this point, we can no longer honor, partially or otherwise such deposits, and STRONGLY URGE our users to heed this notice and avoid a careless (and costly) mistake. "

Hopefully your email will persuade a change of heart.

standing by for deletion...of course

Any last requests ?

The cessation of mindless censorship of all these important conversations about the financial problems unravelling around the world (i.e. Greece, China, etc) as it's fundamentally important to this "[ANN][DASH] Dash | First Anonymous Coin |  Inventor of X11, DGW, Darksend and InstantX" thread and this thread's integrity/unmolested certainty.

You haven't said it in so many words, but to sum up what you have said:  all those posts being deleted discussing the world economy and situation in Greece and Cyprus are in fact on topic.

Yes. Those conversations are ABSOLUTELY ON-TOPIC and for a mod to exert his or her personal interpretation/views about how discussions on the Greek situation doesn't constitute a conversation about Dash is absurd. Our need to discuss what's happening in Greece and with the EU in general is fundamental to Dash and inherently important to our ability to interact as a community and help guide/influence this project.

All those previous postings a few pages back about the censorship and the fact that our discussions about the situation in Greece and the EU are on-topic for this Dash thread have been left alone. As Grexit Looms, Greek Island Begins Testing Blockchain-Based Parallel Currency

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/21156/grexit-looms-greek-island-begins-testing-blockchain-based-parallel-currency/

So who is this guy and what is Nautiluscoin that it would be considered before 1. making their own currency and 2. using almost any other crypto coin over Nautiluscoin.  If this article isn't dubious, I don't know what is!  Comments aren't allowed on that page either, LOL.

"Disclosure: Brian Kelly is the creator of Nautiluscoin, owns Nautiluscoin tokens and makes a market in Nautiluscoin."

Yah, I guess I meant "who is this guy who got the ear of a Greek official". ;P

Edit:  And has access to CNBC to write an article?

yes, btc38 and btc-e.
my 2 duffs

How much money did they want to add DASH?

here's the info on btc38....

So LTC pumping, BTC pumping. Time for DASH already? Let's hope Tok is right while I'm trying to get my buy orders filled. Cool

BTC38 doesn't carry a DASH/CNY pair.  There will be no DASH pump.  Sorry.

Its really odd.  I get why there is most of the coins there that are there....they have been around for a long time...but Stellar and Bitshares?  Does someone have an ear over there?  We've been one of the top several cryptos for months now.  Why?

They have "Coin Voting" page, stating "you can vote on what you'd like to trade on BTC38."
http://www.btc38.com/trade/vote_for_trade_en.html

Note: they do not have Dash listed, but DRK for Darkcoin.

And this: "Each of our user has 1 free vote per coin. We are also accepting paid votes, which have no limit on the number of votes one can cast. The lowest cost for one vote is 0.0001BTC."

Smiley money votes. almost like in the U.S. world politics.

hopefully one of our dash whales can make it happen. or when the new dash update comes out we could make a proposal to pay to get on the exchange with the blockchain funds. i would vote for it.
fixed the last part for you. Grin

.....Long post here......
I assumed that toknormal was talking about Dash having spam attacks. It wasn't clear. I thought I'd alert the developers to the Bitcoin fork problem anyway and how it affected other altcoins based on Bitcoin, as reported in cointelegraph. I saw it just after it came out. Thanks for the compliment and the reassurance.

Yep, spam attacks are not related to this blockchain split, it's just soft-fork wasn't going the way it was designed because half of bitcoin miners effectively ignored it and basically "lied" to the network telling that they are capable of mining (and verifying) v3 blocks while they were not. But that's an interesting coincidence for sure.   Smiley

PS. Btw we had many forks back in old days so Dash miners are used to forks and they upgrade quite fast now to stay on the right chain as much as possible. And that's also why even if I can't say it for sure I still hardly believe most of them are using the latest source/binaries available.

Charlie Lee talking about LTC's resistance to spam attacks.

http://cointelegraph.com/news/114791/litecoin-shows-there-is-a-simple-fix-for-spam-attacks-on-bitcoin

I was wondering about that because all these pumps seem co-incidental with the spam attacks. If they are related, then the question arises of which is the chicken and which is the egg.

Did the CO2 cause the warming or did the warming cause the CO2 ?

(P.S. What Warming !)

Joining chat rooms is not my scene but I read this article in cointelegraph after reading your spam attack theory. It says that Bitcoin has forked two ways each 50% in both directions. It also says that all altcoins based on Bitcoin are at risk because of this. I read somewhere that Dash is a Bitcoin based altcoin. The article says :-

Bitcoin-based currencies

All cryptocurrencies, which have Bitcoin codebase in its core, have the same issue with transaction signature verification by OpenSSL libraries. That means that potentially every altcoin network might have problems with block rejection due to different signature encoding by different clients.
http://cointelegraph.com/news/114794/miners-lost-over-50000-from-the-bitcoin-hardfork-last-weekend

Could this be the reason why things are going wrong with Dash as you suggest? This is something the Dash developers could reassure Dash investors about. How about it you guys?

Things are not going wrong with Dash, not sure where you got this info from Smiley

Below is a lightly modified/combined X-post from https://dashtalk.org/threads/no-dash-mentioned-miners-lost-over-50-000-from-the-bitcoin-hardfork-last-weekend.5620/

We merged BIP66 a long time ago https://github.com/dashpay/dash/pull/178 so there should be no OpenSSL issues that could affect consensus on Dash network since most miners are using version 0.11.2.x I believe and this means that consensus is not affected by any changes in openssl so no forks should happen even if large miners would compile daemon with some different version of openssl (if some of them decide to upgrade openssl and recompile for example).

Also you can check for yourself that all blocks are v3 now:
Code:
#!/bin/bash
BLOCK=`dashd getinfo | grep blocks | awk '{print $3}' | sed -e 's/[",]//g'`
BLOCKHASH=`dashd getblockhash $BLOCK`
BLOCKSTOTAL=1000
V3COUNT=0
echo "Checking versions for $BLOCKSTOTAL blocks back from block $BLOCK $BLOCKHASH"
for(( i=1; i<= $BLOCKSTOTAL; i++)); do
BLOCKHASH=`dashd getblockhash $BLOCK`
VERSION=`dashd getblock $BLOCKHASH | grep version | awk '{print $3}' | sed -e 's/[",]//g'`
#echo "$i Block $BLOCK $BLOCKHASH $VERSION"
printf "."
if [[ $VERSION -eq 3 ]]; then
V3COUNT=$((V3COUNT+1))
fi
BLOCK=$((BLOCK-1))
done
echo "
V3 blocks $V3COUNT/$BLOCKSTOTAL"
Code:
Checking versions for 1000 blocks back from block 299678 00000000002027f6cabeaddd3111bd6c72f3c856e814940b7c0d074a8c9d75e4
...
V3 blocks 1000/1000

SPV-minig problem shouldn't be the case also simply because our blockchain/tx rate is still quite small and there are no benefits in implementing SPV-mining imo.

PS. Great first post btw  Roll Eyes

Hey Ladies and Guys
i am doing a little Fundraiser for our PR pod.

I am always tipping writers who help with PR and Stories

(last fundraiser was August 2014)

I know Fundraisers are not that popular (due to the Blockchain Funding Thingi coming soon)
but we still have to get by until that is in place.

So please
