Only real adoption of any coin can raise the interest of big merchants and it will attract the big companies to get involve in mining. It seems big portion of hash power still under the control of Bitmain which is not good for any coin to grow healthy.

A premine if it had been properly communicated would have been way more honest than the scammy, intentional instamine of a launch, presented as an "accident".
Xcoin/Darkcoin/Dash is one of the most dishonest coins ever launched because of that. Premined coins are better as long as they were clear about their premine.

If you use hardware wallets then you can connect it directly to Dash Electrum and do transactions from there.
If you use software wallets then you need to do a dump of your private key.

With the Dash Core software wallet you need to go to the debug console (located in the Tools section) and use the following command :
dumpprivkey "address" (just typing dumpprivkey gets you additional information about this command)

With Dash Electrum there should be an option to import priv keys / addresses
