Crypto is the separation of Power and State.
So with the re-branding tomorrow, is the new client going to create a new appdata folder? If so, will the migration process just be moving your wallet.dat file?

The directory structure shouldn't change.  That just creates headaches for everyone.

I'm wondering if THE DARKCOIN FOUNDATION, INC. is changing its name to THE DARK/DASH FOUNDATION, INC. or THE DIGITAL TRASH FOUNDATION, INC.

Has anyone seen a public notice about it?   Huh

I never mining nor trade with the DRK so I was wondering why his price increased strongly. Thank you.

I cant help but to think about Bitcoin's scalability problem. If Bitcoin wants to be adopted by the masses, it has to solve the scalability issue and for that it will most probably require a hard fork. BY scalability I am referring to bitcoin's current per second transaction limit.  I am not a technical person and would like to know have Darkcoin developers addressed this problem already so that if we grow suddenly big, we would not be facing a similar dilemma?

If block size is the same for DRK, and it produces 4 times more blocks per 10 minutes (due to block per 2.5m), it should already be at 4x in terms of max transactions per second compared to BTC.

But Evan is planning something even bigger than that, although it'll be an experimental concept to see if it actually works. If it does, he says that scaling will go to a whole different level (billions of transactions capacity).

There was a great post here about that in the last day or so. I cc'd it to a friend. Someone else or the Author can quote it quicker that I can.

And Yes, You're Correct about BTC.

Man, then bitcoin is in deep trouble- it has to go through hardfork if it wants to grow fast and if it goes through hardfork it might not even survive Cheesy

hmm, if not bitcoin then what other open source coin is left to meet the global markets' demand for crypto technology? Obviously the answer is not the copy-cat Litecoin. I think it is not too hard to see the big picture now Wink

Anyone else think PoW anon coins probably have no future?  Governments will obviously legislate against anything that violates their AML / KYC laws.  PoW mining pools offer a large attack vector for governments to just walk up and either shut them down or take them over, maybe throw you in jail in the process.  At that point, they will likely have already passed a telephone book of laws prohibiting you from participating in one of those networks.

I haven't followed Darkcoin much lately, so I don't know what it's plans are, but it seems to me like the only possible way this coin can succeed years down the road is copy the Bitshares model and remove PoW completely, making each masternode a delegate.
As long as we don't try and create a darkmarket within our wallet i think we'll be fine. Creating a Darkmarket inside a wallet is a good way to get shut down.

what's gotten hold of you and been the catalyst for such venom, slander and hate?  Mmmm?  That's the real question here).

"Slander?"

Slander is spoken, dumbass.  It's cute when kids try out new words but get their proper usage confused.   Wink

As for "venom?"  Here you go:

The Darkcoin Foundation intends to rebrand, and use the 'cleaner' DASH name to lure in more retail-type non-cryptonerd people.

That means they will prey on less-sophisticated low-information demographics than BCT.  Think Joe Sixpack, Great Aunt Millie, and Tiny Tim the orphan boy.

I'm compiling documentation of Darkcoin's crimes as well as appropriate law enforcement resources here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.10846840

If you live in Arizona, please prioritize making reports to your State authorities:

No offence but try reading the last 100 pages, this topic has been discussed to the death, the darkcoin Dash people want to get back to discussing testing and development and not keep saying the same things to defend themselves from vested interest troll comments (for the record, no darkcoin is not a premine scam)
Please do some research and then will be happy to help and answer questions.

Peace.

The mods are usually pretty cool, they are just trying to clean up this troll infested thread. Some innocent post may have gotten caught up in that. Looks like you may have been deleted because you quoted a troll who got deleted, collateral damage.
Don't quote trolls if possible.

iCEBREAKER, you just ruined your Hero account. I am sure soon you are gonna be flooded with negative trust rating too Wink

its a good thing he can still laugh about it.. although his laugh does sound kinda stressed.
I just hope he doesnt fall apart under all this tension, he is after all our most favourite put on ignore troll
What would we do without him ?

I don't get it. He can make shit load of money by investing in Darkcoin. You don't have to be a genius to understand that there is a serious Venture capital interest in Darkcoin project. Plus, we havn't even started the major PR work after re-branding. The most optimistic price prediction per Dash would be around 40$. So i ask again, Why hate while you can profit?  Grin

You can GUARANTEE after his total failure to have any impact at all on DASH, his slightly more intelligent side has dragged his "complete and utter dickhead" side kicking and screaming to the DASH investment tribunal where some sense has been knocked into him. Now he's here spending his days in a torturous dichotomic 180º-out-of-phase mega-quandary of trying to work out how much more FUD he should do versus backing right off and enjoying the ride to see his DASH outperform anything else he's invested in by a magnitude of many. The life of a troll is complex and oh so difficult. We really should be setting up a benevolent fund for them as their future prospects are very limited.

(and iCEFUCKER, before you go putting up "attack the attacker" headlines, consider this. What is it that has gone right inside of you, hooked on to something raw and sensitive and facilitated you becoming the "attacker" within the "attack the attacker" equation? An "attacker" is what you are....what's gotten hold of you and been the catalyst for such venom, slander and hate?  Mmmm?  That's the real question here).

Quantum entangled and jump drive assisted messages
So with the re-branding tomorrow, is the new client going to create a new appdata folder? If so, will the migration process just be moving your wallet.dat file?

I have already tried creating a new folder option, choose it when you start Dash's wallet for first time, not seen any problems as yet. If you want to run Dash and darkcoin at the same time create a new config in the Dash folder, named dash.conf, and only place listen=0 inside it. Now you can transfer balance from darkcoin to Dash directly, both hot.

Why the price is starting to go up.....

If you want to learn more about the Dash project, former DRK, don't forget to listen to the most recent LetsTalkBitcoin episode. It is a full interview with Dash's lead developer Evan Duffield and includes very good explanations about the main features of the platform and future plans.
