Live Coverage from a multinational, multicultural, multilingual, multi-everything you can imagine, industry oriented trade show.

PACKED full of retailers, wholesalers, producers, distributers, whole industry circuit.

After a whole damn year of pushing crypto's, specifically Darkcoin because, well, no need to explain... everyone always looked side-ways! And in MOST cases I did not even mention Darkcoin, just Bitcoin!!

This time, I am absolutely ASTONISHED at the reception to Dash!

GP    - Hello mate, remember me from XYZ trade fair 6 months ago?
dude - Ah yeah!, Kind of, of yeah I do recognised you
GP   - Super! Hey, have you heard of Dash ?
dude - hmmm... Dash? not reeeeally... wot'iz'it?
GP   - Well, in a nutshell... its digital cash.
dude - Oh right, yeah, we use Paypal.
GP   - No no ... I mean, really, digital cash, not a payment processor, like real cash, no fee's no chargebacks, no banks, no nothing.
dude -  wot you on about mate? (he's english)
 GP  -  Well...

I then explain the fundamentals, and he's 100% hypnotised and eating my every word, like and evangelist preaching to his cult audience.

Never, in a full year, have I had such immediate response.

+ 1 to that

I can talk to an associate about DASH without worrying about him making faces just because of the name. It will be much easier to push DASH/Darkcoin as a payment option.

I wish I had saved a little something for future reference back in the day so I could just paste it here, but I'll have to go by memory. It went something like this: So if someone runs into your house puts hands in his pants pulls out smelly brown substance and starts throwing it on the walls running around yelling that everyone who lives in this house is an idiot and a scammer and you call him a retard he wins because "ad personam"?

here you go guys. darkcoin's little dark secret. just in case some readers missed it.

There is a huge difference between centralized and decentralized virtual currencies that is already recognized by an agency of the United States Government. http://www.fincen.gov/statutes_regs/guidance/html/FIN-2013-G001.html. Examples of decentralized virtual currencies are Bitcoin, Namecoin, Monero and Dashcoin. A particularly good example of a decentralized virtual currency is Monero where there was a community takeover of the currency away from the developer.  It is my understanding that Darkcoin is also a decentralized virtual currency; however if the Darkcoin Foundation, the Darkcoin Developers and the Darkcoin community take the position that Darkcoin is a centralized virtual currency I will of course defer to their judgement.

The key difference is that with a centralized virtual currency for example PayPal there is an administrator of the currency who controls the currency. With a decentralized virtual currency there is no person or group that has control over the currency.

So with a centralized virtual currency the administrator would own the rights to the currency and would be able to sell them making the above statement correct; however with a decentralized virtual currency this is not the case

some posts got buried when trolls and troll hunters have started hammering each other so. i decided to summarize and re post some important information.

PS deleted the old post and placed it here.

I saw this last night at around 10pm and had a puzzled look on my face and continued with the thread.
Woke up this morning, fed kitty and put the kettle on.
Just as the kettle was coming to the boil the picture popped in my head and I "got it" and started chuckling to myself.

Also..... the 4hr chart is yet again showing a classic dentists scrapy tool. V Bullish.

 Cheesy

I propose that instead of 'troll' we refer to these FUD spreaders as 'Elmers'. (I mean those both seriously and with a grain of comedic salt)

iBREAKER, shut up you Elmer.

See? has a funny ring to it.

Ok, better start thinking about some kind of truce I think.

It's clear that it winds a lot of people up the fact that this thread gets too 'celebratory' and exclusive about technical developments.

It's also clear that there are a considerable number of those developments about which people are genuinely satisfied.

However "cultish" we get in here we can be assured that an equal and oppositely  aligned 'cult' may manifest itself in other places. Just check the bitcointalk subject list for the number of "scam this, instamine that" threads that have been started up.

The world of crypto is self - balancing !  Cheesy (Thank god for markets where people can ultimately make up their minds - cult or no cult Wink  )

the constant insults by icebreaker and others aren't productive at all.
Or is it only wrong when he's the one being called out for being legitimately part of something shady?
Agreed, whether you're pro or con keep it civilized. I did enjoy watching the show from the sidelines tho  Cheesy

Excellent, so you agree that the constant insults by icebreaker and others aren't productive at all.

Or is it only wrong when he's the one being called out for being legitimately part of something shady?
To be honest, I did not read the previous discussions, so I can't give a documented opinion about whether or not icebreaker or other were insulting - I can only speak for the conversation I quoted.

But yes, insult is not only useless, but actually counter-productive (although, ironically, it strengthens a community by uniting it against a common ennemy, irrespective of whether the threat is real or imaginary - or even created as a distraction, like some governments did in the past, since it proves to never wear out).
