Although the BTC-e trollbox has many people with little comprehension of what's going on, it's an interesting exercise tuning in there every so often to feel the pulse of "regular world" crypto, what they believe is hot and what's not.

Here's yet another gem of dear-in-the-headlights confusion around LTC and why DRK is outpricing it:

Well you'd better believe that "pruce" Bruce cause things are not going to get any better for LTC going forward whilst its development has languished so badly and DRK powers ahead.

Toknormal thanks for staying on top of the market developments. When I got into crypto I used to watch it all the time but got burnt out. I don't know how you keep doing it but thank you for these updates.

By the way, we plan to clean reset the Darkcoin blockchain without instamine. Genesis launch is Jan/18/2015 ;-)

The reason most likely is that people are jelly. And they are mad they didn't mine at the launch. And they are mad they didn't buy 10k coins for 0.25 BTC in the beginning. And they are mad they lost their money buying some other coin.

I've seen constant whine about instamine, but haven't seen a concrete actual problem it should cause now or in the future.

Classic crypto p&d FUD factor. Scare the audience that a big instaminer will dump to oblivion and run away rich and happy. It has happened quite some times. Many coins legitimately died, others blatant scams, but all in all a perfectly legitimate argument.

What is moronic about all this is that this applies to very low market cap and recent coins. DRK has long passed that "trial by fire" phase.

It has become virtually impossible to crash this coin. Volatility, sure, even welcome within reason.

DRK is thriving due to a vast group of individuals, from many fields, who just "get it".

a) a main dev who it a workaholic prodigy and just keeps on innovating AND delivering every time.
b) a team of devs that are f*ckin' awesome
c) Around 6 months since conception, DRK was adopted by BitFinex along BTC and LTC only! (BitFinex is a trading platform for the real financial pro's)
d) Rich-list is one of the healthiest in the entire crypto land.

I could go on forever... I tell you guys, one day this thread might printed to a library for historical reasons.

The whole instamine FUD thing is seriously getting boring.

That was an interesting Friday night - Evil-Knievel stirred up a total hornets nest.

Thanks to him we also learn how to loose all credibility in one second :

No problems, your solution is perfect, scrap the most innovative crypto in history with the largest anon community and marketcap just to appease a small minority of trolls...

Actually, it is just bitcoin with coinjoin on top. Blockchain.info has implemented this feature long before.

Just showing us, he know nothing about darksend.

Edit : forgot to remove my sig. lol

I've seen constant whine about instamine, but haven't seen a concrete actual problem it should cause now or in the future.

I've seen so many coins that didn't have a premine come and go because developers simply ran out of funding to continue onward. This is one the cases where (an accidental) premine may have either given the dev or created some whales that are continuously funding the development of this coin causing their stash to continuously increase. Good software engineers in the US are worth over $100k/year. This type of work isn't cheap labor.

At this point I'm just looking forward to decentralized 2FA.  Smiley

I am really confused about this insta-mined yelling, people keep just keep pointing out that the difficulty re-targeting failed. We know it happened no-one is denying it happened, but it wasn't deliberate.

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/the-birth-of-darkcoin.162/

It's strange that people are so fixated on one point in time, it's like saying my scrambled eggs aren't delicious before I even put the damn eggs into the frying pan. Because even if we assume for arguments sake that this was deliberate and instamined, the interesting part is what happened after that. Namely that development continued at a rapid pace and has done so for a protracted period of time.

I mean already at launch it invented the X11 algorithm, which researchers are now saying will replace SHA-256. Then the development of anonymous darksend transactions, then creating the masternodes network, then instant transactions and now masternode blinding.

These are all massive technical innovations and so it seems strange to suggest that all these developments are worthless because there were X amount of coins in the first few blocks. It would be like saying Facebook isn't successful because Zukerburg and a few others own most of it.

Now there is a whole development team and who knows what they will implement next. So why focus on how many coins there were at launch, instead of what it is now? As I see it the eggs are only starting to cook.
