Documents published by @DerSPIEGEL @laurapoitras @ioerror today reveal #NSA compromise SSH, SSL,TSL and store cryptographic handshakes #31c3
this will have a stronger effect on crypto than it probably appears on the first look.
- eg. generating paperwallets via browser

If you create a new wallet.dat, encrypt it, back it up, getnewaddress and send funds to it, does the back up of the wallet.dat also have the new address? Does getnewaddress actually create a new address or just assign one? Is that what the keypool size is?
You don't have to back it up after every new address generation.
But you have to after importprivkey because it's a new privkey added to your wallet.

Doesn't each new generated public key have a new private key associated with it?  So I you don't backup the wallet, you won't have the newly generated key pairs . Would be odd that it stored a bunch of keys just in case.
Don't listen to anybody. Check it Smiley

Hi, A couple of questions -

[1] - when I SSH onto my masternode server, it still asks me for a password. Is this normal or have I got something wrong with the SSH setup ?

Edit the sshd_config placed in /etc/ssh by changing the line containing PasswordAuthentication from yes to no, then restart the server with the command

service ssh restart

http://wp.kjro.se/2013/09/06/hardening-your-ssh-server-opensshd_config/

Nice collection of recommendations in that link thanks

Hi, A couple of questions -

[1] - when I SSH onto my masternode server, it still asks me for a password. Is this normal or have I got something wrong with the SSH setup ?

[2] - in most of the guides, you have to set up IP routing tables to secure the server. In TaoofSatoshi's "For Dummies" guide, he just fires off a few ufw commands which seems a whole lot easier. What's the catch ? Are the 2 approaches equivalent ?

thelonecrouton brought it to my attention that my previous IP tables firewall would not reactivate if the server had to be restarted for any reason, so he suggested this UFW program instead. It will reactivate automatically, and it IS way easier... Wink

1. It's normal to be prompted login information (unless changed) on a default SSH to secure the connection.
2. UFW is an app that alters iptables for you in an easier setup. The two approaches are equivalent (whether you create your own iptables script or use ufw).

Next Litecoin dump incoming.

such a slow and painfull death of a coin... (we are talking about LTC).

0.0083 seems to be another rally point for LTC, a lot of buy volume there on BTC-E.

Edit : considering the low price of BTC, Darkcoin on the other hand is doing remarkably well.
