BTW, I dont know if this has been addressed since I was without internet the better part of last week... but with InstantX, if the Masternodes are confirming the tx, then what is the roll of miners?

I mean, yeah, the regular blocks must still be mined for non InstatnX and keep the blockchain rolling, but with InstantX, we could hard-fork to a new algoryth that is stupid simple CPU friendly, have the nodes sign the the solution, broadcast to verify.... in essence we might not need miners at all.

Now that would be crazy good for the environment and the positive price feedback loop envisioned by Evan.

You cant spend coins without confirmation.

In the video, Evan demonstrates them as confirmed. That is my confusion about it. Once a tx is broadcast, then it is essentially locked, and verified by miners, 6 to be statistically certain no attempt of a double-spend. I dont get it.

Bitstamp volume in BTC / USD. We're 6 away from 400 off a floor of 365 last night. I doubt it will correct much either - the market depth's perfectly balanced (as opposed to a pump & dump scenario when everyone starts placing sell orders high up the asks).

15 minute volume is 500 BTC.

Meanwhile LTC's cratering through its 96 resistance. Major dump in the last half hour.

Meanwhile DRK is nicely progrssing towards its 4-hours chart consolidation. 2-3 bars left (12 hours ?) before the 4-hour floor's in.

Everything seems shaping up for a possible re-alignment of Bitcoin politics.

Darkwallet is still bound by BTC's confirms and wasn't built to be anonymous from the start. Granted, you could argue with the current issue that DRK is facing, neither are we, but we were designed from the start to be an anonymous currency. With BTC's confirms, DRK would have InstantX. Further, the masternode network still hasn't been tapped as to what kinds of services can be built on top of it. You can actually earn revenue from running a masternode, something you won't be able to do with Darkwallet or BTC for that matter. Finally, Darkwallet still remains a centralized, browser based platform, not something I am willing to risk money with.

Not the browsers, Darkwallet is centralized because the "mixing" will take place in their own servers so you have to trust that they won't try to retrace some transactions even for research purposes.

The main difference I'd identify is that Darkwallet is not a generalised solution. It is a one-time treatment of a one-time transaction.

You can't remotely use that approach for any kind of enterprise that requires an institutional approach to privacy.

Darkcoin's 2-tier approach is pre-emptive and generalised. Pre-emptive because it doesn't wait till the instant of the transfer to attempt to anonymise it and can therefore do a far more thorough job than any realtime mixer. Generalised because it's not only the funds you send that are anonymous but the ones you receive and hold also.

Think of it this way - Darkwallet addresses hunger for one person for one day by going and hunting a wild boar.

Darkcoin solves it for all people everyday by inventing agriculture.
