What would you do?
I would report it. You might not get away with it.
It happened to me on Cryptsy - when I calculated my balances I had far to much of a couple of coins. I traded some excess BTC into another coins but then 24 hours later cryptsy ran an "audit" and suddenly I had negative balances.
I started getting notifications from Cryptsy saying I needed to bring my accounts "into balance" LOL !! They saw it as my problem not there's.
Anyway, I just decided it was going to be a mess unless I sorted it out so I had to sit and do a whole lot of trading to get the BTC back that I'd accidentally been "given".
The problem for you is your not anonymous. If you withdraw more than your genuine balance your basically stealing and could be pursued since they've at least got an email address.
Maybe not worth the stress.
If this is true then things could get really serious and messy (as if they weren't already!). Hopefully this is just an internal accounting issue, I can't believe that if someone was to carry out a withdrawal in this manner the manual processing and reconcile would not spot the discrepancy and halt the bogus transaction. Wouldn't the blockchain spot the double spend of the same coins? Or do mintpal not keep segregated wallets for each user?
Anyway, if bogus withdrawals are possible then it's a hackers paradise... (if it wasn't already)
- 2FA has been disabled
- password resets can be sent out without further checks. If a user's email account is compromised then they're in trouble.
- Moolah have publicised and admitted that there was a serious security flaw in the v2 platform, hence it being brought down... user's accounts/passwords could be compromised.
- Moolah are not enforcing a return of withdrawals to the original depositor address... Hackers could easily divert genuine and non-genuine funds to third party addresses at will
- Although the above applies to all coins stored at mintpal, DRK could be particularly attractive to target as we have a nice easy way of mixing the coins and making them untracable
- This is all on top of the current suspicions surrounding the mysterious alex green
- There also appears to be a complete lack of internal controls in place. This confusion and disorder results in a kind of 'fog of war' where any bad actor(s) that is/are internal to moolah or external that has compromised their system could be doing all sorts of bad things with impunity.
What a complete and utter shambles. I have a really bad feeling about this.
