Sorry guys maybe is a stupid question but i downloaded the wallet 0.10.14.1 and put my darks in then i encrypted it, now everytime i start the wallet it says "warning there is incompatibility with RC4+ wallet due to larger keypool. it only effects encrypted wallets but can caouse a loss of data in rare situations. please create a new wallet and move the fund from this"

Huh Huh Huh what to do?

Rename your wallet.dat file to something else, fire up the new wallet again so it generates a new wallet.dat file, copy the new DRK address, close the wallet, rename the wallet.dat to something else, rename the first one back to wallet.dat, fire up the wallet again, send your balance to the new address, close the wallet, rename old wallet.dat again, rename the new one back to wallet.dat, fire up the wallet again, all is well.

Faster to do then to type!

edit: or do what innergy said, that will let you keep the existing address.

Thank you innegy and thelonecrouton, but i'm asking why i downloaded a wrong wallet from the official download page? i'm not an expert so i ask you: can i send now my money to my exchange and then cancel this wallet?

You didn't download a wrong wallet from the main site. Things changed from RC3 to RC4 to RC5 and for safety sake, it's smart to send all your coins from old wallet.dat files to a newly generated wallet in the latest build or dump your private keys and import into the latest wallet if you care about the address associated.

forexminute is there to sell ad space, like the rest of the cryptoblogs. Only a month ago 'Yashu Gola' and his 'deep ethical values' was accusing the DRK devs of all manner of scammery - complete drivel, lies, defamation and libel. The whole cryptognat scene is shiftless, clueless and worthless.

Apart from that site having THE worst and most absurd advertising that takes up almost all of the screen real estate, this statement in that article surely demonstrates a level of naivety that is overly apologetic to Alex Green:

Quote
To our readers, we must praise Alex Green for its utmost care and professionalism upon the announcement. The shutdown of Moolah is nowhere close to that of Mt. Gox as customers can still take out their funds before October 21st. Altcoin markets will surely move towards other companies, but we won’t forget Moolah for at least not being a cheat in the end. Rest in Peace!

I don't think I'll be reading too much more of their content.

Dogecoin barely survived the past storms but Moolah's bankruptcy might take Dogecoin down with it. Perhaps it is time for the wise Dogecoiners to join the Darkside?

Edit: "Dogecoin community hugely invested in the Moolah’s profit sharing PIE program... Alex Green assured the community to payback in a best possible way" -> well the so called investment from Dogecoin community were probably made in Dogecoin. It is possible that Alex will return the investors dogecoins but by that time the coin might drop to 10 satoshi or even die.

I'm not fearing a  DRK apocalypse.

If a load of dumping goes on (whoever is doing it), there is a corresponding buy.  Darkcoin still does what Darkcoin does.  If price suffers, I believe it will bounce back.

The great pump of May 2014 put DRK out of the reach of a lot of people we want holding DRK.

If the price tanks and traders leave the building, good, it's a nice re-distribution of holdings...

Sell them all, we will buy.

Amen to that...

The article posted there actually made me laugh Grin

"The company is offering everyone the month of October to withdraw their funds, but will be closing their doors officially on October 31. If users fail to withdraw their funds, they will supposedly receive an email asking them where they want their funds to go."

I had 8 BTC in Mintpal V1 5 seconds from buying MNs when it was taken down instantaneously with no email warning, message on website or Mintpal twitter, then 2 weeks of sending emails, support tickets even legal threats and not 1 single response and no sign of the coins. And no I don't 'keep coins on the exchange' only when I buy stuff I will shoot anyone who comes and says that now LOL.

Ouch.

I hope you get your coins back.

I was wondering how English bankruptcy law sees depositors. If they're considered unsecured creditors then we're at the bottom of the pecking order if they have a lot of debt - specially tax and VAT. On the other hand if moolah didn't actually own Mintpal then the funds might  indeed be safe but the question is "who does".

They say "a statement to follow". Lets see.

You are correct.  We are unsecured creditors and bottom of the pile in the UK.

I had to fill out all the FSA forms and pass their fit for running a business tests a few years back. Takes 6-9 months to go through the application and vetting procedures.

Technically, coins held for customers are client funds and should be held in client accounts and should not be mixed with business and operational funds. They should be in identifiable segregated locations and customers should be able to get everything back.

But, this is crypto and the regulators haven't caught-up 100%, so there are risks with these funds not being considered client money.

Does anyone even know where Mintpal is located as a business and where (country) their servers are located?

All looks UK based.

That is actually reasonably good news. However, they are not regulated. That might be part of the problem with them folding, which is bad news.

Europe operates a risk based regulation system. The UK adopts most of this approach and adds on to it.

The regulators don't always look over your shoulder, but they expect you to play by the rules and when you don't and they catch you, you are in a world of pain. If they have segregated accounts, they might be in a good place - from prison point of view.
