Hello,

we (Tim Ruffing, Pedro Moreno-Sanchez, and Aniket Kate) are group of researches at Saarland University in Germany.
We have written a research paper in which we propose a new coin mixing protocol to improve anonymity in Bitcoin. The protocol is called CoinShuffle.

The key innovation is that it is decentralized and it does not require a mixing server. Among other advantages, this means that no mixing server learns which output addresses and input addresses in a mixing transaction belong together. Since CoinShuffle is based on the idea of CoinJoin, theft of coins is excluded as well. CoinShuffle does not require complex cryptography and performs well in practice, even in scenarios with a large number (about 50) of participants.

A preliminary version of the paper is available.

This is the abstract:
Quote
The decentralized currency network Bitcoin is emerging as a potential new way for performing financial transactions across the globe. Its use of pseudonyms towards protecting users' privacy has been an attractive feature to many of its adopters. Nevertheless, due to the inherent public nature of the Bitcoin transaction ledger, users' privacy is severely restricted to linkable anonymity, and a few Bitcoin transaction deanonymization attacks have been reported so far.

In this paper, we propose CoinShuffle, a completely decentralized Bitcoin mixing protocol that allows users to utilize Bitcoin in a truly anonymous manner. CoinShuffle is inspired from the accountable anonymous group communication protocol Dissent and enjoys several advantages over its predecessor Bitcoin mixing protocols. It does not require any (trusted, accountable or untrusted) third party and it is perfectly compatible with the current Bitcoin system. CoinShuffle introduces only a small communication overhead for its users, while it completely avoids additional anonymization fees and minimizes the computation and communication overhead for the rest of the Bitcoin system.

A comparison to other approaches to improve anonymity, e.g., Zerocoin and Mixcoin, can be found in Section 8 in the paper.

We would be happy to hear your feedback and critique about our proposal. All details can be found in the paper.

Hi everyone, I've been busy, and a bit stressed... but this morning I saw that Kristov Atlas completed his report and I just finished going through it (I'll need to go through it a few more times to really understand thoroughly) but I must say every duff we gave him was well worth it!

So clear, so thorough!  Wow, I hadn't thought of some of those attack vectors!  Can you imagine how much help this will be for the team?  He even made a list that shows the threat level and difficulty of solving the problem, which makes prioritizing so much easier!

I just wanted to post my thanks to Kristov.  I hope he sees it?  I'll have to try twitter or something... LOL.  Anyway, I've got to get on the testing RC5 band wagon here over the weekend (if it's still testing!)

Way to go everyone!

Tante is back
Yeah
where were you hiding ?

For mining directly and what is currently available since you are paying electric, it would have to be a rig full of 750tis. They hash incredibly well on X11 and are the cheapest IIRC hash/watt.

So, Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 Ti, you say?

Why a whole rig, I want to go just with one, for starters.  Grin

How many MH/s does it do, is there a comparison list somewhere?

https://litecoin.info/Mining_hardware_comparison

then adjust for DRK

thanks.

So would you recommend this card: http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/GTX750TIOC2GD5/

750 ti gives me 2.6Mhs DRK, some 40w ...cc miner 1.1 win64... it is about0.06-7 drk/day (MSI)

Not a good list... those are scrypt hashes. Nvidia cards scale differently than AMD in terms of X11 too.
I did say adjust for DRK ,,,, is that not the way it works ?

From what I quoted, you made no reference to adjust for DRK. Secondly, what are you using for your adjustment factor? The rules like Scrypt-N being 40-50% the hash rate of scrypt don't really apply to X11 with the continued optimizations that are happening with the mining software.

...but there is no substitute for mining DRK directly to best help its network.
Grin I really need to be a part of the DRK mining network.
Somebody's got to do the job, and if there is a possibility to have a small device (with energy cost not higher than 50-100$ a month) mining away, producing maybe 5 DRK a month (I don't care about profitability)...
but it is important to help the network out directly... (yes there are indirect methods to help, but if we don't have enough direct helpers those indirect methods become irrelevant)

Fuck this idiot selling 15 btc worth of dark...im wondering why too many bastards and idiots do exist in the darkcoin scene...we must find a way to implement on darkcoin code something that wont allow idiots to purchase darkcoin ...why those idiots do not understand that darkcoin its an inovation and a work its being done here and everyday the coin is being improved...FUCK YOU IDIOT....i wish you  to lost all your e-cash aka dark and buy back when the marketcap of darkcoin will be 1bn..regards

Yes But if that trader profits at  + .002 DRK each time they sell and buy then they make 4BTC a go  which means double 15 BTC in a week with not a lot of price fluctuation,,, this is just day in day out buy and sell,,, surly this is bound to happen and we have to live with it and it pushes the BTC per day up which is good yeah ?

as soon as this seller got a medium ball predicting the price of dark he can do that up until then he can suck my balls if the price of dark moonrises in the next hours or days...so go eat some breakfast before you post there.
listen Ultra D
I was not having a go at you in any way so i dont expect it back ,, traders don't need a medium ball they just take a mathamatical risk or gamble with their money most clever enough to cover their losses,, even if the profit is .0002   4 or 5 times a day  then it still works for them if ya cant see that then you need breakfast, lunch, dinner,a beer, sleep and basically  another day to post  sensible  replies.

I want to help secure my DRK holdings, by helping the network. I need to mine DRK, not to make a profit, (I'd rather buy the coins) but to help strengthen the network.

I do GPUs radeon & nvidia. 750 Ti  maybe is best efficiency wise
sry bad typing, havent used this forum for a year...
