If you read the latest development update, it says that enforcement testing is going to start soon, and enforcement should occur prior to RC5.

So I received another masternode payment. That's two in a little over six hours. What's troubles me is that I should have gotten three payments if it wasn't for this guy not paying the 20% masternode fee. http://explorer.darkcoin.io/block/0000000000086eadb80ad08b5d7ff75891abbad0a7040a2fbf1d4c82cf1a0727. It's costing me money. Ironic isn't it?
So what's the status on enforcement? The lack of it is costing me money because I'm not getting all my masternode payments due to non-compliant entities refusing to pay the 20% fee. Something needs to be done about this ASAP.

Perhaps just give masternodes the option to send 1 out of every x payments to an address administrated by the Darkcoin foundation. These funds would then be distributed between a number of charities that we could vote on. Additionally, such a scheme could be implemented with a % of transaction fees.
Just like many others, I invested in creating a master node. I'd say I'm about 3k$ in the hole all in all. The thoughts that I might be forced to give up a portion of my meager income to charity just makes me wanna hurl. I agree that it should be optional.
I've also read about a "mistaken" DRK insta/pre mine...... Why aren't these funds being used to fund a charity.....or set up MNs with the sole purpose of donating their proceeds to charity?

Nice idea. Let the users choose the charity though. That way when the charity turns out to be a front for the CIA (or whatever) down the road, it's the user's issue, not DRK's.

Another thought on the charity issue - it might potentially conflict with the decentralization/anonymity issue so that would have to be thought through. Which MNs, exactly, support charities? Give me all the details - oopsie.

Set a cap, or just charge based on bandwidth. Any user will already need a Darkcoin wallet, it keeps track DRKTor use and deducts fees accordingly.
The network already calculates fees based on tx size and charges the client - a lot of that code could be repurposed without too much bother.
You would have a DRK balance for your coins, and a DRKTor balance for your comms.

This is actually a good idea, some people might need 500gb some might need 50gb even less.
The pricing should probably have some tiers like <100gb - costs x.xx and above a different price.

The idea of DarkTor is amazing. The price of $0.50 a day is too much when you compare at what prices you could find a VPN. I think that $0.20 would be somewhere around the perfect mark, while imposing some sort of limit. You don't want the user (abuser) maxing out the network and just forcing huge amount of traffic for no reason.

The issue is that people miss these sort of things if they aren't on darkcointalk. It's hard to manage 1 forum and keep up with 2-3 coins regularly (Bitcoin being first).

They'll exploit the ambiguity (DRK raises shitloads of money to starve children - ewwww).
Seriously, no matter what one does somebody won't like it (or will pretend not to, for agenda purposes).
Strong idea, and it would have a positive impact even if not universally supported.
Edit, afterthought: I mine another alt that does "good works" and I've noticed in its discussion threads that people show up to say "it doesn't do enough good work" or "I don't like the good works it's doing, it should be doing X instead", blah blah. With that kind of thing in mind, it might be wiser for us to seek a bunch of charity "good work" sites to accept DRK so donors can choose rather than having DRK endorse Charity X. This is harder to do than one might guess. One of the major "good works" campaigns announced recently that they had lost government funding and desperately needed money. When approached to see if they would accept crypto donations they said, in effect, "we'll think about it" and went into a bureaucratic coma - despite the fact that donors were lined up and they could have converted to fiat (or whatever) instantly through the exchanges.
