How could the backups be destroyed? You don't use multiple drives?
I do, and all the backups are destroyed. While on drives that were not even powered up!

I was making a new set of backups to pgp/email because I was reducing the wallets to less than 5K each. Then everything went to shit for no reason.
So where are the old backups before you divided the coins up?
They show that, yup, I sent the coins to the new wallets and are empty. Duh.

When was the last time your wallet worked? Right before the update?

I can't believe that no one is checking the files with:

https://www.virustotal.com/en/

You put yourself on high risk if you don't check files you download.

If there was a virus people would have long reported it by now  Roll Eyes

No because no one checked those files.

Sure we all have very high trust in drk dev and team but thats not a good thing when it comes to security. even them can become infiltrated you never know.

camo: SSD or HD?
SSD are no good choose for a backup. Use a real HD when possible.

I am not sure how you know "no one"'checked the files. And if it was a virus more than just camo would be having a problem.

Explicitly nothing but wallet.dat files are effected, and on drives that were not even plugged in...

I'd call bullshit on it myself it it weren't happening to me...

Wow, I'm not happy at all.

libdb changes have destroyed all of my wallet.dat files. I have no DRK.
Ran into the issue before. Use -salvagewallet Should repair it. Then tranfer all to new wallet.

Make sure your using libdb 4.8
--salvagewallet fails and creates a wallet.[timestamp].bak file.

apt seems to think I have no berkley libdb installed at all... Other wallet.dat files work fine...

I can't deal with this shit now. Nothing but bad news all week. It's actually LESS of a problem to write DRK off as a loss than deal with this right now. There's no reason for it.
dpkg -l "libdb" then purge them.
I'm way too stressed out before this happened. I don't trust myself. About zero brain function. Fuck it.
Don't play with money when stressed or tired, just leave it alone and come back later.
All DRKs lost. No hope of recovery.
Are you serious? Don't you literally have thousands of coins, and you don't have a backup or the keys printed out? I can't believe that.
The backups were destroyed, too. It's fucking unbelievable. It's like wallet.dat files were targeted on a drive that wasn't even powered up. External USB drive, encrypted. Everything on it is intact, except the backups of my wallet.dat files.

Relax and take a break before doing more harm. Harddisk specialist gather data from broken disks after months. Maybe those files can be fixed by someone.

Your backups are on the same machine? This doesn't make any sense. My backups are on usb, email, and paper..

USB, NAS with Raid, Online Server, 40+ character passwords...

Is there any other way?

Haven't we been through this "wallet corrupted by libdb, all DRK lost without hope of recovery" before with Blackempress? And guess who eventually recovered her coins? So much for no hope of recovery.

Camo, you are tired, stressed, and emotional right now. Take a step back and work on this when you are in the right frame of mind.
