I like the idea behind Ethereum, where messages aren't stored, or not for long (expiration date).  So unless a message needs to be stored with a transaction, they could still be sent but not saved.  I know there are times when someone may want to save a message with a transaction, yes in that case, it should be charged.  Even the above could be charged, but at a very small amount.  I'm wondering if it could work as easily as text messaging?  If so, then we might break into that market.  I don't text because .... I think it's stupid and won't pay for it, LOL.  But there are times that I wish I could text my kids while they're at school to be read later (nobody listens to voice mail)  But I'm not about to expose our phone numbers on a website to do so.  Also, I can't type into a number pad, that takes forever.

Oh gosh, I need to go, but will try and get this article written soon...

charge $0.01 per message or $0.001.

I don't think that matters too much. creating an active reason to use Darkcoin - to access decentralized and truly safe messaging. How much is that worth? The secret services of the world would be our biggest customers.

When the Iraqi war broke out, the USA dumped $billions of dollar bills onto the population.  With Darkcoin they can do the same, but more targeted and send a message at the same time.

Whoever needs to use the service, sending messages to kids to Obama or Hillary Clinton funding their next war, we are circumstance neutral: just pay me to deliver your mail.

goomorning Hippie tech... good to see you still lurking and caring.   Wink

its rather obvious that Hippie Tech deep deep inside still very much love Darkcoin and to be honest i cant blame him, there is a lot to love about Darkcoin.
its not too late to convert Hippie Tech.. come join us at the Dark side.

Any idea could we fork OpenBazaar to use DRK? Or maybe create a better one from scratch. Wink

Possible I guess, just a question of whether that would add value and have actual use, and if their technology is sound. Especially the double deposit escrow part.

Enigma 2.0 - DarkTransit - DarkMessaging - etc.

Whatever the encrypted messaging system of Darkcoin becomes, I think it is vital that we charge for it and pass the fees to master nodes.

HashCash, the proof of work hashing system created by Adam Back and used by Satoshi in Bitcoin, was created to solve email spam (well that was one of its aims).

The theory was that by delaying every email long enough for an email client to have to carry out a piece of work, mass spam would be avoided as there would be a prohibitive electricity cost to sending out billions of emails.

1. If we do not have fees for sending out encrypted messages we risk creating network bloat and ddos by way of spam.

2. By charging for using encrypted messaging we create a financial incentive to buy darkcoins (to be able to send messages), that introduces new fiat into the crypto space.

3. We also grow the network of master nodes as people invest in the network to earn money from messaging fees.

4. People investing in master nodes reduces darkcoins circulating in the market.

5. The virtual circle this would create would make Darkcoin very, very valuable. We are talking WhatsApp $billions.

Make it so.

My 2 Duffs is on the messaging system being called Enigma 2.0 because

1. The name already has a brand association. The mainstream media would find it easier to write about Darkcoin's encrypted messaging system because so many people know what Enigma did and how difficult it was to break.

2. The 'Dark' connection that puts off so many is diminished.

3. I just like the concept.

4. More people would have to download the client in order to use the messaging system. They become part of Darkcoin for another reason.

5. I just like the concept.

6. I just like the concept.

Make it so.

It's a great idea as long long as the fees charged are very low. As in microtransaction low. Because as it stands there is plenty of  free competition out there. Most of the messaging services enjoying success don't focus on encryption but it could be argued that most people just don't care whether their messages are encrypted or not. Of course there is a market for encrypted messaging services too and I'm sure it is growing.

There is great potential for services over the masternode network.

Advertising spam is not allowed, this includes mining pools, gambling services, exchanges, shops, etc. Mining pool ops should make a thread within the Mining section of Alt Currencies. Most OP's already link to pools available so advertising your pool is unnecessary and leads to too much spam. Exchanges, shops, gambling sites, etc, should make a thread in the Marketplace section of Alt Currencies.

Sorry. I will not post it again. I didn't know this rule and just wanted to inform new feature.
Sorry again.

No need to apologise to us it isn't our rule.. it's a new forum rule.

Mining Pool Hub

Just opened multi algo pool + auto exchange feature!

Mine the most profitable coin and auto exchange to Darkcoin

Why do I have to mine other coin?

1. You'll get more Darkcoin!
By mining the most profitable coin, it means you get more BTC, and you will get more Darkcoin!

2. It will make current Darkcoin miners more profitable!
Your hash goes to other alt coin, and current miners will get more Darkcoin because Net hash decreases.

3. Auto exchange makes "buy order" in the market!
It increases price. Now, mining can affect trading world.

4. Auto exchange makes independent to Bitcoin.
To make altcoin environment survive, we need real alternate coin which can match with Bitcoin.
Auto exchange can encourage altcoin environment more healthy, discourages people who just mining the most profitable coin and receiving by Bitcoin. Yes, it destroys all altcoins.

If you think Darkcoin is good and you want to investigate in it by mining, this is the smartest way to investigate.

Come and join us.
We opened this feature today, don't have much hash on multi pool but come and give us power.

You know, we have been running Darkcoin pool for a long time.
Our pool can grow up if you come!

When I did have time to break away from family I was working on problems with Node 3 or bringing Nodes back up that didn't go offline as remote servers but became disconnected as Master Nodes. Node 3 has been driving me nuts and after problems with our Hot Wallet in Node 1, where I was completely ignored by Evan regarding problems I was seeing as a Beta tester for his network with Node 1's hot wallet, I don't feel that I'll get any help/support with this one either. The best way to describe the problem is in picture form:

Hi chaeplin,

I was advised that you may be able to help with this problem. Have you ever seen something like this? On one of the 3 nodes that were up, I had a database error on one when launching it and after the database rebuilt the self payment for the cold wallet from June 26th seems to have rebuilt on July 2 with this walletaddress that *looks* to be internal but seems to have vanished from the local wallet balance:

Orig error from July 2: http://s286.photobucket.com/user/SurfSkateKauai/media/Corruptedblockdatabase.png.html

Receive addresses (tried to manually add address shown): http://s286.photobucket.com/user/SurfSkateKauai/media/ReceivingAddressesonDZNode3.png.html

The self payment appears to have been rebuilt when the database rebuilt but looks to be a self-payment of 1000DRK, as it's light gray and in parentheses: http://s286.photobucket.com/user/SurfSkateKauai/media/ReceivingAddressesonDZNode3.png.html

The wallet's balance is missing the original 1K DRK from before the database rebuild. As you can guess, I'm pretty keen to try to reassociate the wallet with the cold wallet payment from June 26. If I load my wallet file with an old blockchain file set or a new one, it still shows up with the 1000DRK missing as soon as it syncs past Aug. 2. Any advice you can give would be appreciated as I don't know what to do about this, and never expected to run into a problem like this.

Thanks,
DZ

He moved coins in main wallet without using coin control.

I have become extremely wary of DZ, fwiw. I bought into several of his group buys many months ago. Things ran very well for a while. Then a couple of forum trolls, one in particular, made his life miserable and he dropped from sight amid some sympathy. Bottom line for me so far is I paid for about 600Gh of BTC mining shares back when that was a lot of hashing power, and got - crickets.

His threads typically started out with huge enthusiasm, e.g.: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/closedr7-bitmine-rig-1ths-at-costhost-70-10-15ghs-ups-mahalo-308512

and are now in a shambles, e.g.: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.7958419

I didn't participate in his DRK ventures because of this ongoing mess. I'd say it's either a rather clever scam or he is the unluckiest person alive.

Technical masternode help requested
Dyslexic_Zombei has allegedly lost access to one of his masternode addresses (node 3) due to a 'phantom self-payment' and he says the address is disassociated with the wallet and his blockchain file is corrupt or something. See his posts here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.7888788

Could we get some help on this from El Presidente or even a glance by Evan or InternetApe? He's blaming the issue on Evan essentially, saying the community has been no help and he is claiming the Darkcoins are irrecoverable due to Evan's 'beta software'.

To me DZ just seems highly incompetent.

after going through the last few pages of his thread, this is my conclusion as well. I've been running a masternode since rc3's release and I have had 0 downtime and 0 issues with the remote wallet configuration (takes like 15-20 minutes to harden server + get a masternode running). A corrupted blockchain database isn't a big issue, just delete the blockchain folder and redownload it.

Agreed I wrote on his thread in defence of darkcoin - there are over 850 masternodes running with almost zero downtime. We dont get people in the darkcointalk or in this thread screaming about instability or corruption problems. Its not an issue with the masternode software, its an issue of the user setting things up wrong. Amazon servers dont randomly die or corrupt themselves unless the user does something crazy.

You can read through his threads and he has a massive number of problems from remoting into the servers, network issues, random corruptions, and he is even using the RC2 QT wallet in linux. He should be running the RC3 daemon if he is going to setup the masternode properly.

As said previously, he either has the worst luck in the entire world, or is incompetent. I am voting for the later.

Sounds to me like that story:
when the Mt Gox guy (Mark Karpeles) blamed BTC's code to be 'broken'
and ran off with the money !!
I hope this is not happening, for anybody involved, but .....>>>  Huh

Edit; Mark Karpeles and such
