As far as I understood the recent Evo demo video, Evo will enable stuff similar to Ethereum. Is there a thread somewhere that explains what that means? I could not find anything related on the Dash forums, but maybe I overlooked it.

Economic Research Uses Bitcoin to Reveal Government Currency Manipulation and Capital Controls

Gina C. Pieters, Ph.D. economist at Trinity University, shows in her paper that a properly adjusted Bitcoin price can shed light on how countries manipulate their exchange rate and/or institute capital controls.

Typically, economists discover the intensity of currency manipulation and capital controls via other international measures, stocks, globally traded commodities, or even the infamous Big Mac Index. She recently presented her work at The Royal Economic Society’s annual conference, although much of her data is for 2014-2015 because of the data availability bottleneck from other countries that institute currency and capital controls. Her study utilizes the fact that Bitcoin is traded 24/7 virtually with all data in the open so researchers would not have to wait for data collection like previous methods. She also emphasizes that Bitcoin’s minuscule transportation costs and separation from nation-states make it less prone than commodity measures to cross-boarder trade price differential and trade barriers imposed by countries.

I think that before May it is worth waiting with all the movements of the crypto currency, it is not clear what will happen with bitcoin, but with a higher probability, there will not be an uptrend until now.

Next Crypto Bubble Imminent, But Dash May Not Have to Wait

Though some analysts are still holding out hope for a sudden reversal, it looks like the great 2017 bubble has come to an end. Bitcoin, and altcoins like Dash, have seen their prices take two steps forward and three steps back in a steady decline since late December. Those who have only bought as much as they can afford have little to worry about, as Bitcoin has had four major bubbles before and will almost certainly have a fifth. Eventually.

Slow and steady? Nah!

Cryptocurrencies aren’t particularly good at the slow and steady growth exemplified by stocks and other “traditional” assets. Instead, they tend to advance their price through massive bubbles which eventually pop, but not without retaining some of their gains. For example, the Dash (called “Darkcoin” at the time) experienced a major bubble in May 2014, rising from about $0.50 to $15 in the space of six weeks.

Dash’s bubble popped, dropping the price as low as $1.80 at one point. However, following 2017’s peak price of $1,600 per Dash, it’s virtually certain that the currency will end up being worth significantly more than its $15 price in the last bubble. Even a 95% drop from all-time highs would equate to a price of $80 per Dash, which is still a massive gain for those who have been invested since 2016 or earlier.

Dash Aerosports Brings Dash to American Televisions on NBCSN

This past Saturday, an American television sports network, NBCSN, broadcasted an hour long segment “Start Your Engines” of the 2017 National Championship Air Races.

Featured in the race was Scott Farnsworth and his Dash Aerosports team that promote “DASH” in large text along with other Dash marketing material on their plane. The Dash Aerosports plane can be seen in the online video from 2:05 – 6:45, 40:05 – 44:40, and a Dash promotion at 19:38. Viewers were also treated to impressive views from the “Dash.org Digital Cash CAM” at various moments throughout the broadcast.

Scott and his team, throughout the race, were able to promote Dash to the numerous people that attended the race last year, as well as those that watched this weekend. Viewership ratings were not available at the time of writing this article.

Dash and Monero are at comparable volumes right now, I question which one will certainly win, from the head to head battle. best to become diversified though

Two totally different projects nowadays. Monero is still focused on fixing their privacy issues whereas Dash is focused on mass adoption scaling and being easy to use digital cash.

Monero has not had the best of luck in the privacy department latley....

Dash's privacy feature has never been broken - Turns out Monero's privacy feature has never really worked to begin with

Warning: Every CryptoNote/Monero transaction in history will be retroactively exposed
https://steemit.com/cryptonote/@macrochip/warning-every-cryptonote-monero-transaction-in-history-will-be-retroactively-exposed

A well-respected cryptographer earlier this year released a tool called http://www.monerolink.com, where you can link all transactions from 2014-2016 with 100% (due to blockchain timing analysis apparently), and all transactions from 2016-2017 are linkable with a probabilistic distribution dependent on mixin size. So they have a table on the site, 1 mixin transactions are linkable 86% of the time, 10+ mixin transactions are linkable 22% of the time. Monero has fixed this bug since January of this year, but if you used monero on a DNM between 2014 - Jan 2017, BEWARE!

What is the next big thing from the Dash dev team? On what stuff is the dev working at the moment? Can we expect something big in the near future? I ask because the price need something to get pushed again.

First evolution version coming at the end of this summer. Before that, I do not expect any big news.
Ane Evan the founder left heading the dev team, he is now only advisory position on the dev team list. I do not know if he is working on a project or having some leisure time, no news, no trace from him for nearly one year.

Evan is living in Hong Kong and heading up Dash Labs. He is working on open source hardware for masternodes and miners that will decrease centralization and increase transaction capacity.

I believe he is back in AZ now. His last major update was a few months ago on medium and he post on reddit every once in a while.

InstantSend Back Online on the Dash Network After Edge-Case Exploit Fix

In a post today on Dash’s forum, Dash Core lead developer Udjinm6 announced that DIP0001 has been officially locked in to take effect within the week, enabling the InstantSend spork to be safely turned back on:

“SPORK_2_INSTANTSEND_ENABLED”: true
It’s alive! 😀

(rpc command: spork active)”
A discovered vulnerability had caused deactivation by spork

Earlier this fall, a potential vulnerability with Dash’s InstantSend function was discovered that could in theory allow an attacker to initiate double-spends on the network. Though this exploit had never been successfully tried and would only be possible in a very specific and difficult edge case, the Core team quickly shut off the InstantSend spork until the vulnerability could be fixed in the 12.2 update. The discovered potential exploit was announced on the forum by Dash Core CTO Andy Freer:

Anyone catch the git commit or code change that fixed the “SPORK_2_INSTANTSEND_ENABLED”: true issue?

Would be very interesting to study and learn from the root cause so it doesn't occur again in other projects or forks.

Does Dash Meet the Coinbase GDAX Digital Asset Framework Criteria?

Coinbase is the largest, most important, exchange in the United States. Including Dash would be beneficial to both Dash and Coinbase’s customer base. Since Coinbase has come out with a more empirical process, I decided to measure Dash to their standard of acceptance. As you will see below, Dash more than meets their requirements, and considering Dash’s role in the world of cryptocurrencies, I contend it is the most obvious “next coin” to add.

TL;DR – The summary
It makes sense for Coinbase to offer Dash as one of its premier tradable currencies.

Coinbase effectively evaluates based on…

Tradability and popularity
The maturity of technology, leadership, community, documentation, and governance
Confidence in longevity: technically, future tradability, decentralization, etc.
Future roadmap and innovation
Lack of legal entanglement and more currency than security
Little to no conflicts of interest associated with funding
3rd party assessment and analysis of design, governance, and process
3rd party interest in expansion: merchants, developers, partnerships, etc.
When viewed through this lens, Dash is a prime candidate for Coinbase to add to its set of supported tradable assets. Just to touch on a sampling of how Dash addresses these criteria, let me respond in the order given above.

In summary, Dash…
