Someone is really trying hard to bring the price of DRK down. They obviously thought at 0.01 they would see a panic.

The wallet looks great. The NXT has some nice visuals, but too much info.

* 2FA and/or multi sig

* DarkSend by defualt, tab for other transactions
* Exchange with other alts
* Master Node details / status
* Fork, wallets, etc. update status

Remember that's the first prototype. I don't think we want to bombard users with that much information. Also, we might want to look into getting a professional to do the design work.

I know, but while the conversation on darkcointalk looks like it was pretty useful and identifying lots of ways to innovate, people here don't see the work that is going on, so they think nothing is going on, so the price slides.
I was referring the information in the wallet. Like block info etc. As stated on DCT, the average user probably barely understands what a block is, and doesn't care about such info. Having a cluttered layout would just confuse them.
One of those average users here who was actually considering picking up a few drkcoin's.  Guess I'll mosey on over to the darkcoin forum and create an account to see what's going on with this coin.  Hard to believe just a few weeks ago the price was higher than that of litecoin!  Given how little seem's to be going on with regards to litecoin dev/innovation I'm now again taking a serious look at this coin.

I didn't put him up to it Grin

I'm excited about this. Hope it's functional and fancy. #iggy

Can we get some more cross posts going, please?

This is really frustrating. So many good things going on, but behind closed doors. Yes I have an account on darkcointalk. But people new to DRK don't. Tell me, who are the ones that hold DRK and those that are potential DRK buyers?

On darkcointalk.org the information is accessible to all, registered or not, not my definition of a closed door.

ok. so now I'm feeling like a troll.

people buying DRK or thinking they need to sell, come to this thread. Many make up their minds about what is going on or not from here.

So we need, like jdp527 just did, to post some updates on what going on there.

We can split hairs on it, but there is a reason why I don't spend much time on darkcointalk, even though I would enjoy doing so more than here and there are fewer trolls and ads for shitcoins.

Well the second step of a spork IS a hard-fork! So it's not going to solve all fundamental problems of hard forking.

Well, yes, but the difference is that with a traditional hard fork, if you wanted to revert you had to get everyone to update their clients (again).  With a spork, the added functionality can simply be switched off remotely if it's causing problems.

So, come on spokesperson (notice the use of neutral language there so as not to offend any skirts out there  Grin), did Evan and the rest of the Dev team just:

1. Introduce a way to fork in the event of ASICs being produced, which leaves the decision to use ASICs down to the community and not the devs who would fear the risks of a hard fork more than the use of ASICs?
2. Did we, the Royal we, just create a way for Bitcoin, Litecoin and any of the shitcoins to hard fork with significantly reduced risks?

This is really important. Darkcoin needs to be given credit for showing a way to innovate the hell out of crypto with fewer risks.

Possibly.  I also heard a rumor that he once saved a litter of Chihuahua puppies from a speeding train in Guadalajara, WHILE tapping out code for RC4 on his smart phone.  And he helps old ladies cross the street.

It's probably a little premature to name the spork the savior of crypto (not to discount the possibility in any way).  I do think it's safe to say that it's one of the most under-recognized innovations to come out of this project for the crypto community as a whole.

Great. Thanks spokesperson (see girls, still on the right side of your feminist machinations), that's officially a quote.  Wink

History is riddled with examples of this... There is a big difference between say TOR (a general technology) and Napster (a tool that was once used almost exclusively to illegally distribute music). This sounds closer to the later for me and even if we were to prevail (which legal precedence would not be on our side, though I'm not a lawyer), it would certainly invite more scrutiny and legal challenges than it would be worth. I personally think we should leave the illegal underground associations to Cloakcoin. We're changing the world plenty with our payment network, which will in time face it's own significant share of PR / legal / regulatory scrutiny. I would caution the community against taking on something bound to be even more controversial. It's easy enough for independent p2p auction sites to use our coin... and that's not anything we can add unique value to anyway, imho.
Why make it a dichitomy?

My calculator has "dumbass" and "scientific" modes. Some have special functions for accounting of real-estate, like interest compound, etc... Why not have different modes for the wallet such as "derp" and "nerd." Of course, my names for these modes are descriptive and you'd want to change them...
We should definitely focus on getting the sleek "dumbass" version finished first. More complex/enthusiast features can then be added as time goes on.

I'd like to inject an alternative mode of thinking into the discussion... we, as a community of crypto-currency geeks have a strong tendency to overvalue things like recent blocks found, network hashrates, next block difficulty, total blocks found, etc. But if our aim is mainstream adoption of our coin, 99% of users "don't care how the sausage is made, they just want to eat it." We need to value "white space" too, especially for our consumers. They want simple. They want clean. Think of Amazon's pay-now button. Or Apple's home button (the only button on the face of the phone). In my not-so-humble opinion, if we want to make our coin attractive to consumers and merchants, we need to keep the interface clean and easy to digest. No information that doesn't help them figure out how much money they have, and how to transact securely. If it takes a user more than about 10 seconds to read everything on the initial presentation layer, you have way too much on the page.

It wouldn't really be a lot more work... Just make the 'nerd' interface, then remove features to make it 'easier.' Like Apple. You could reduce the software to the level of a toaster/not-so-smart phone app, but click the 'nerd' check mark and it goes back to being useful again. Would even be a lead-in to the mobile app...

I wish DRK had a blockchain.info-style cloud wallet... But with less sucky encryption.
