1. Are you using the latest amd / nvidia miners? They have better hashrates.
2. If hashpower is significantly reduced, block reward goes up to compensate miners. Instead of 5 DRK per block it could go to 6-7-8-9 etc.
3. You must also calculate the compound effect of mined DRKs that can be used for masternode mining, something that alters the profitability calculation compared to other coins. If one makes 100 DRKs per month and he can use them to buy a 100 DRK slice of a masternode, then these too generate profit in subsequent revenue streams. Hence the miner's reward is not mutually exclusive to the masternode owner reward, rather they are complimentary - supposing that the miner holds and uses them for MNs. After you factor that in, a different picture emerges.

A theory on the recent price drop. Hoping to open a discussion. I'm a DRK holder, bought in when cheap (but nowhere near MN levels) and have been mining steadily.
From a miner's point of view DRK looks like a circle-jerk between master node holders. You get the impression that DRK exists so that people can run MNs, which exist so DRK can work and pay the MNs...
Some quick math:
A MN is about a $7000 investment if you bought in while low recently.
Upkeep costs are negligible.
It pays about 1DRK/day.
You can get 100% of your investment back quickly and easily if you want out.
NET RESULT: .00014 DRK/$/day.
My miner cost $2500.
After upkeep costs (and I have the cheapest power in the US) I get about .1DRK/day on a good day. Less than half that on a bad one.
If I got out I might get 50-70% return selling my used hardware by dealing with flakes on ebay and craigslist for a month.
NET RESULT: .00004 DRK/$/day.

I do not see a problem here. Your investment into miner is much lower and safer than investment into crypto currency. I invested remaining 500 drk into masternode a week ago and I lost about 40% of my investment whereas you did not. Hence, it makes sense to reward the risk takers.
If you think the ratio is not fair and the miner is not generating enough income just get rid of the miner, simple as that.

Cause there is no more place for failfork eltito...all of us knows it.

Wanted to post this info for the community to reference...I just finished setting up my masternode with Yikadee / GhostPlayer. His service was excellent. His knowledge is extensive and he did a great job helping me understand each step. Without his help I am certain I would not have been able to accomplish it, and I would have risked making a catastrophic error. Thank you to the community for suggestion him. I posted two days ago on darkcointalk asking for help and within 2 days I have a working masternode. It did not cost much (Work only took 3 hours). If you are thinking about setting up a masternode, even if you think you can do it on your own, a little help goes a long way.
Totally missed this post. Thank you!!

What if Satoshi really only had a couple hundred BTC all along and isn't some recluse multi-millionaire now? (the actual amount of BTC that Satoshi still has today is up for debate)
What if Satoshi realized that he created BTC with many shortcomings? (no anonymity, no difficulty retargeting, slow transaction times, open for ASIC screwage)
What if Satoshi realized that he had gone too far with BTC to publicly ditch it and that publicly ditching it would possibly kill it?
What if Satoshi wanted to create a brand new coin without these shortcomings and wanted the attention and glamour that would come from the success of the coin and so attached his actual identity to that brand new coin?
