the 'want to use your Windows PC'  highly contradicts with ur statement of the 'BEST option'

Everyone knows Windows is best, what's your problem?

Haha who said that Windows is the best? LOL

If you wish to run a MASTERNODE in a safe way with local/remote configuration, and want to use your Windows PC as local wallet, then you might want to check out guide posted here:

THIS IS the BEST option so far!

@balu: have you created privkey with masternode=0 in your conf?I had the same isue too but went ok after all.

Hi,

Could somebody help me with my masternode issue?

Everything seems to be set up correctly, but it takes forever to find connections, and the log is full of connection timeout messages..

The blockchain is up to date, and its syncronizing (current connection count is 1 after an hour of running the client), I just don't see why connections are dropped. Is it because of incorrect iptables rules?

My masternode cannot be found on the two masternode list sites of chaeplin.. But when retrieving the masternode list in the client I can see my ip as "'1", so it's supposed to be active...

Any ideas? Help in private is appreciated as well.

I was trying to dig the CryptCoin hype. Didn't manage to.
Am I right that there's actually nothing special to it? I don't see how what's described in their whitepaper should be an enhancement in security/anonymity at all. It's ridiculous. Maybe I should make up a zero-content whitepaper and a fancy website myself. Roll Eyes

Mothership back in the 600's.

1st correction out of the way on the road back to 1k.

I am hoping Evan will announce details of further features to achieve further anonimity for RC4 after Friday's hardfork.

But they are announced. We know what to expect in RC4 (anon upgrade), even if we don't know the specifics.
Some specifics would be nice, although he probably has his reasons not to share. He probably doesn't want *NAMEOFSCAM* to steal even more features from us.

I'm just worried of the small possibility that he might not know how to achieve further anonimity yet and therefore can't share any details. This is why specifics would be nice to rule out this possibility. Let's just say I invested big in February and am in it with >90% of net worth so I have a lot on the line Smiley

Actually he has already given it out, but you have to assemble it from the past posts:

I have 2 possible solutions to evaluate for V2 of darksend (ring signatures and encrypted system where the users themselves do the joining relayed through the masternodes.) . Both of these make the masternodes unaware of who is sending money to whom, so centralization isn't an issue at that point.

I've had some substantial progress on DarkSend and have figured out how to make our existing system as secure as ring signatures. Vastly improved security, no bloat (from the ring signatures) and without actually having to trust new cryptography (it hasn't been extensively tested like what DarkSend uses) . So I think it'll give us a HUGE advantage in the coming months. More to come soon, I'm going to start implementing this tomorrow.  Grin

I think it was mentioned, in the discussion between evan/anonymint that by darksending it multiple times through a number of nodes it reduces the bad-actor probabilities to a statistically safe degree to solve the issue that the darksend node knows who sends what.

I think I have a better solution than that, I want to turn the masternodes into I2P relays for darkcoin. So your client will pick one when you start, then relay any messages through that one. It encrypts all of the traffic, removes the connection between IP and address and it the blockchain is still a complete fog. Plus it'll be a private I2P, so it'll be super fast. Masternodes are going to be awesome  Grin

...and yes, some of these ideas are being pursued right now by other coins.
Thanks!

to hide a signal you need a lot of noise.
if every beep is a signal there is no privacy.

so to build a working privacy-setup,
you need to make it obligatory.

only if noise and signal comes in the same stream
there will be obfuscation.

I get it, but if I learned one thing in the little cryptography that I studied it's:
security thru obscurity is the worst kind of security.

"Hiding among noise" is not a very good concept.
We will know that we have good mathematical security when we can transact in plain sight, and no longer need to hide, and NSA will STILL not be able to make sense of it.

What fantastic times we live in! I am looking forward to the next breakthrus in anonymity.... will it come from darkcoin? I hope so.
I believe that masternodes open a very large door of possibilities, and could be asigned a lot of different "jobs" in the future, maybe even different jobs, not all of them doing the same thing etc...   Wink

yes obfuscation is not a security itself.
but it is good to shield the main system with an extra layer.

the thing that I learned in cryptography is that the most successful breaches didnt come thrue the door - they just ignored it.

- eg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_Eck_phreaking // or see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tempest_%28codename%29

- or the fact that the Russians where able to tell when the CIA or NSA had something big going on, just by monitoring the amount of orders of the pizza-deliverys in special areas.

by dont revealing that an information is an information (it could be just noise) you make Side channel attacks more expensive because you hide who and what to attack.

but i m with you, obfuscation itself should never be the main concept.

// if you want to know what a person is realy up to  dont look at the files he tries to hide - look at the files he deletes. THAT are the important ones.

Any price predictions for RC3 ?  Huh
Anything could happen, I'm hoping for a rise over 0.02. Hopefully I will be right. 2 days to go now.

That will be too easy, like within a few hours after the fork when the panic-side-forks is gone. We were at 0.025 last time before the fork

203 active Masternodes, and rising! Anyone remember how many there were last time?

What he could do with is more devs to assist him!
