How will we be able to tell if everything went well with the fork? Are there any signs to look out for? Thanks.
MN ops gleefully posting their earnings for the next 5 pages will probably indicate that it went smoothly... Wink

Hey guys, there is no way I can make my nodes show on Chaeplins list, yet when I do masternode list, in the node itself they show as being active.  Should I add some nodes to the conf file? What do you recommend? I would really appreciate the help.

OK, I solved my problem  Grin. Special thanks to Tifozi on IRC and philipmicklon for his post on darkcointalk.org.   I am posting this so it can help others too.  My problem was that I have been setting up and playing with masternodes since previous versions.  And since the last update I had problems seeing my masternodes in the darkcoin.io/masternodes.txt. My node would show status 1 on his own list but wouldnt appear on others.  It turns out it was because I was reusing the wallet.dat files meaning if I terminated an instance and created a new one I thought I could use again the same wallet.dat with the 1K dark since it was no longer in use in the previous one.  It turns out you cant do this you have to send the coins to a new address with each new setup even if the wallet is no longer in use.  What is really misleading is that you will get "succesfully starting masternode" when you are reusing a wallet so you will think is OK, but it is not.  Information on this should be included somewhere. Cheers. I am happy now will set some more nodes before the fork.  Grin

KryptoBonds, Bonds Industry now in Blockchain
This is BTC all over again.  Those who don't buy now will be crying when DRK hits $100.
If the big boys are still buying, I'm still buying.  Wink

I bought this morning and I'm happy I did!!

I'm continuously buying. I expect the price to test 0.1 over the coming weeks. Saw someone else earlier buying up 13000 in blocks of 500. For any of you not experienced with market trading, buy and hold, and watch the magic of continuous bubble phases one after the other happen. A market like this is a rarity.

And remember. After every major climb there is always a sharp decline straight after followed by a recovery. Don't be one of those idiots who thinks that sharp decline is the end and sells all their coins at the bottom. Saw a few people on here today screaming ITS THE END after the price dropped to 0.2 and they sold out. Don't be one of those people. Expect it, and keep your cool. And if your here to make money, set a target and get out then. Don't get greedy. Nothing goes up and up forever.

very good... but where would the target be ? what is an realistic price?

Let it be written that the price was 0.026 BTC before the masternode payments started.

Anyone guess the number of node ops? I'm betting it's under 50. And we'll all be logged in to our MNs, getbalance-ing or getinfo-ing like loons.  Grin

Actually from a tinfoil hat perspective, it's only the node ops that need compromising by the forces of evil. We need more ops, not just more nodes.

i got a quick question about masternodes that keeps coming up while debating drk.

does each mn do the mixing alone or do they get mixed through all the mn's?
if the latter is true wouldn't someone need to control 100% of the mn's to track trans?
the reason i ask is because people are saying that the nsa can buy up a majority of the masternodes and track transactions. so if the nsa owned 80-90% of the mn's they could track 80-90% of the trans, is that right? thanks

The plan to fight against this scenario, as described by Evan, was to make multiple DarkSends possible through multiple nodes. So if it goes through 10 nodes for laundering, one must control not 1 or 2, but all 10 to find the money flow. In this way the bad actor scenario is significantly diminished.

I'm not sure what the state of current implementation is. I think, from what has been written, that there will be a more eloquent or effective approach in RC3. We'll find out.

Anybody know how to undo a wallet.dat file that I copied over.

If you're using Windows, you could try Properties > Previous Versions. I haven't tested it myself and I'd back up anyway before trying.

im using windows 8.1 and don't see previous versions in the properties tab for the wallet.dat file
ok I found it but it didn't reset the wallet back to the original address.
any other ideas?
Restore from backup. You have backups, right?
cmon if had a backup i'd have restored it already. so heres the problem I xxx coins in an old xcoin wallet that wouldn't sync anymore. so I tried to update the wallet to darkcoin only to find I had a new darkcoin wallet  confused by this I tried to send my coins from the old xcoin wallet that wasn't syncing to the new darkcoin wallet of course the new wallet wouldn't show the transaction because the old wouldn't sync to make the transaction. so I followed some advice to add the xcoin wallet.dat file to darkcoins without knowing the extent of the changes I copied over the darkcoin wallet.dat file. so now I have my old xcoin wallet in the darkcoin wallet all synced up ready to work minus the xxx coins id transferred to the darkcoin wallet. hind sight is 20/20 obviously a huge mistake but its gotta be reversible right? .....

Related question for anyone who knows better than me: all you should need is the wallet address and the corresponding private key to access the coins in that address. Import the private key into a wallet and bingo, you have your balance back, just no transaction history.

Is this correct?

Do a dumpprivkey, make a note of it, and if you lose your wallet for whatever reason you can still recover?
ok how do I do this dumpprivkey or is this just a preventative to what I've already messed up
Preventative, sorry. If you have overwritten your wallet.dat and can't recover it, and don't have the corresponding private key, I don't know how to help or advise.

I just tried dumprivkey on a test address with a few DRK in it and got this:
Code:
dumpprivkey Xnc8wTL5wUJsBG9N76mxHvLhk9tmZrCJ7T
Private key for address Xnc8wTL5wUJsBG9N76mxHvLhk9tmZrCJ7T is not known (code -4)

Can't see any command in the help to generate a key for this address? What does keypoolrefill do?

You want to unlock the wallet first with walletpassphrase "yourpass" timeinseconds
Aha! Thank you.

OK, was able to dump key for that address, and from a fresh wallet, import that key and send them to another existing address. Everything confirmed OK from original wallet, all good, happy crouton. Smiley

I now plan to, for all my wallets, transfer everything into a new address within that wallet (to hoover up change etc.) dump the key, print and laminate it or something.

Multiple copies in multiple locations, guarded of course by multiple assault crocodiles. Less worry about cheapo USB stick failure.
