"bro", you can use darksend and mixing services as long as you want to,
if you typ-in the adresses where your money is in the end,
all the obfuscation is gone.

Yep, addresses from exchanges are particularly obvious.
But merchant addresses are as well.

If you want anonymity, use the qt wallet exclusively, and only send/receive to/from people with the qt walllet.
Only communicate your addresses through physical means (paper), never via email or IRC.
Also even with the qt-wallet, be aware that your IP could be traced as your client will be the first that will know of your transactions (for obvious reasons), and careful timing of transaction propagation can be used to pinpoint you.

Finally never forget that exchanges have not just your email, but your whole trade and IP history as well.

On another note, got to stop day trading... lost a fifth of my dark in the last week. Sad

But I was trying to play it safe and prevent losing it all (i.e. selling at times when i expected a possible decrease in price and knew I wouldnt be able to monitor it ..

Now is not the time to trade.  The time to trade is when darkcoin > litecoin's marketcap.   Smiley

Darkcoins are the Swiss Francs of the crypto world.

Hey,

I've been in this bitcoin-altcoin thing for a while now and finally considering setting up a darkcoin wallet on my home pc. Mainly cause I want to order one of them funky looking wooden address yokes mentioned above.

Can someone educate me a bit? Would I be best installing ubuntu(dual boot) on my laptop. I'm fairly computer literate so if you just send me some links that are relevant that would be great  Wink

Just download the wallet appropriate to your OS here, that's all there is to it: http://darkcoin.io/getstarted.html

And 99% of daytraders get burned, but you seem to have figured that out...  Grin

Announcing a beta feature for the Darkcoin Blockchain Explorer: Address Watch

When you go to the page of an address, you now have a new "Watch this address" link, where you can then register an email address.

The next time coins are spent from that address, the explorer will send you a notification email.

The idea is to facilitate keeping an eye on public fund as well as your own addresses, which shouldn't be spent without your knowing of it, get a warning when a multi-pool is moving funds and preparing to dump, etc.

yes, lets create a anonymous currency where nobody knows what money belongs to you,
AND than lets announce to our providers and email-providers what addresses we are watching.

sounds like a really well thought idea  Cheesy

bro if you use DARKSEND this thing cannot work!?!? or im wrong Cheesy

how to start a master-node?

you need 1000 coins to start one

So it's design is like POS that rich people has more power in the system

Someone will quickly create a system/service to allow people with under 1000 DRK to pool their coins to create master nodes.

I was thinking if that would be possible, a bit like leased forging with NXT

but i think that a lot of people will give away their privacy.

Most of the DRK users have, if you judge by the rich list, all the top spots are either exchanges, or very likely to be exchange cold wallets judging by the transaction history.

(and I haven't tagged much of poloniEx, their website is too slow these days...)

A lot of the addresses you'll want to watch are public or easily attributable (pools, funds, exchanges...), and all these entities hold far more information than an email address.

The addresses I personally watch aren't mine FWIW Wink

Also an email address isn't an account, feel free to use redirection, and anybody can watch anybody's address.

I m just making fun.
Yes this is a nice idea. - watch the big players, etc...

but i think that a lot of people will give away their privacy.

..you dont need to own the email-account,
the fact that you connected to it is hint enough that you are likely to be associated with this address.

snowden showed that metadata matter,
and looking up certain addresses regularly will create metadata.

bro if you use DARKSEND this thing cannot work!?!? or im wrong Cheesy

DARKSEND mixes money flows, but can't hide a pool sending funds to an exchange f.i., or a cold storage wallet no longer being cold, or a donation fund being put to use, etc.
