Does the price runup have anything to do with the May 25 deadline so people can get their 1000 DRK for a Masternode?

What happens after?  Selloff?

Today a masternode costs you around $7k and might bring every month $100-$200, but after 3 or 4 months it will probably costs you $50k and bring every month almost $2k, that's why people are trying to buy as soon as possible and setup their masternodes, why would anyone want to sell after that?

EDIT> Sorry, this is from http://zerocash-project.org/about_us

The military does fund lots of security projects, but why a currency project?

Still haven't been able to figure that one out on a legitimate needs basis. The closets I get is crypto for secret messaging along the lines of the byzantine generals problem.

The alternative, the dark motive, is to understand the mechanics so you can figure out how to break in.

Can someone summarize how the remote/local masternode setup is affected by the last changes? Where do private keys need to be generated and where do they need to be included in the config file?

Also, can the local wallet be put in cold storage after starting the masternode?

Thanks!

Here you go:

LOCAL/REMOTE MASTERNODE SETUP WITH COLD WALLET UNDER THE LAST UPDATE

I would like to report that I was able to update and run my masternodes, using the local/remote wallet setup. The process was the same, but you need to remember that the local wallet is also going to need its own masternodeprivkey=[output from genkey]. So once you have the server side ready. On your local wallet darkcoin.conf change masternode=1, to 0. Get the masternode privkey, add it to the darkcoin.conf and change back to masternode=1. After that, follow the same process we used before to start the masternode remotely. From humanitee:

Start darkcoind on the remote machine.
On your local machine, send 1000 DRK to a newly generated wallet. Send it to the 0th address. If you use darkcoin-qt version to make your wallets, send it to the first (and only if it was newly generated) address.
On your local machine specify the server IP at launch with:
./darkcoind -masternodeaddr=YOUR_SERVER_IP:9999
Unlock your local machine's newly generated 1000 DRK wallet with your passphrase, ## is the time in seconds before the wallet will be once again locked:

./darkcoind walletpassphrase 'your wallet passphrase here' ##

On your local machine,

./darkcoind masternode start

For the above to work your local wallet must already have its own privkey on the darkcoin.conf (this key is different from the server one). I hope this helps.

I managed to convince a VPS service provider to start to accept Darkcoins Cheesy

They are running out of Iceland and have servers also in Sweden and Romania.
Also really big on anonymity. This is a quote from theyr front page:

"FlokiNET offers safe, anonymous and stable services. We will protect your project and privacy. Our main goals are freedom of speech and the right to privacy and anonymity. We offer solutions for any kind of secure communication, data transport and anonymous publishing."

They are also running several TOR nodes  Wink

Go cancel your amazon masternode VPS and sign up with FlokiNET and pay with your Darkcoins   Shocked

http://www.flokinet.is/

They also accept BTC, LTC, AUR if you dont want to part with your DRK

There is not yet a Darkcoin logo on theyr frontpage but hopfully you will see it there soon.
If you want to sign up and pay with DRK just send them a email telling them that you want to do so [email protected] and Einar Jóhannsson will take care of you.
If you mention my name in the Email you might get some better deal Wink

darkproxy.eu - http://darkproxy.eu (a satellite website of darkproxy.net) is now live ! - 4096 bit SSL Cert. by CAcert.org

Registered and hosted in Romania with flokinet.is and being paid for with Darkcoins (mostly).

New darkcoin services to follow...

Ok, now DRK starts to die, its been time for that  Angry

no, it's not

It is, coz i bought at 0,0161 Sad and i have no success in life and with girls, and with money. Dat means, DRK will die and i ll lose my invested BTC Sad
well ,you had your point! Let's say very strong point, but please bear in mind that, if you don't have success in life and with the girls without DRK, you barely will have them with DRK. You can buy them ,but you will never have them,at least you own 1000+ DRK .  Smiley

The girls don't care if you have a nice car or big house or eben a big and long *** Wink all they care if you have a nice and shiny MASTERNODE.

You are saying that I had bought my New Sport Car for nothing Huh?

DarkCoin-qt gives a different total amount of DRK than the block explorers. When I look at the explorers I can find the "missing" DRK's. They are sent to a different account together with a 15 DRK transaction (I actually did a 15 DRK transaction).

That's because of so called "change" addresses your wallet generates automatically almost everytime you spend, and that are part of anonymity features. They can end up holding a lot of coins, and don't appear directly in the known addresses.

You can list them with "listunspent" in the debug console.

Also, they're the reason why you have to backup your wallet often, as new private keys for those change addresses are generated every time.

Many thanks for your explanation!!!  Smiley

This is actually a really good question which I think should be discussed here more.
On the one hand there is a risk that there is some hype being pumped into DRK in anticipation of MN's going live and it may not live up to people's expectations... Also there may be technical problens which trip things up...On the other hand there is a risk that the MN's truly work flawlessly and act as a great revenue generator which would spark a mad-fury of acquiring 1,000 DRK and so by not holding now and after the MN's go live you risk playing catch up.
It seems though like Evan and many others on darkcointalk are beta-testing the hell out of it now so I think the latter scenario is more likely at this point.
