DASH is the future of crypto payments!

I'm trying to believe in you, but it's going below your 55 mark again (at least in the poor cryptsy exchange) . Hard to predict the market. Trollers in both directions are typing fast.

Fortunately, with this coin it's not trollers that are driving the price.

Don't get me wrong - I've bought a lot of clones, but only so I can sell them again. In that type of market you're always hawkishly looking for the top with one finger permanently on the ejector-seat button.

With coins that I bought because I read about them and actually thought they had a future it's totally different. You invest because there's some real work going on that can't be reproduced. I know the technology can possibly be reproduced but it also takes people, organisation, brand recognition, investor loyalty. Only the originals really have all that and thats what your investing in, so I don't pour over the charts so much with those coins. Just buy and leave it alone.

My 55 + or - seems to be holding at the moment but I wouldn't mind if it dropped because I've seen the panic that ensues when it starts to go up and leaves people out of the market. The order book is shuffling like crazy. It's clear that there is massive demand - everyone just wants to know the optimal time to get in thats all.

 Quoting Propulsion...

Quote
Title says it all. Are there any groups of people who can work together to create a patch for both these pools?

Edit: Current Bounty Amount
250 dark from Evan and Kyle for P2pool
250 dark from Evan and Kyle for NOMP
200 dark from MyFarm for General Bounty
50 dark from Vertoe for P2pool
100 usd from Vertoe for P2pool
5 dark from ayruel for General Bounty
1 dark from yidakee for General Bounty

Total Bounty as of now. 503 dark and 100 usd for p2pool. USD Equivalent of a decent amount.

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/developement-work-for-p2pool-and-nomp-stratum-patch.360/

I havent checked lately, but I think we have NOMP "sort-a-patched", and today heard rumours someone is attempting p2pool...?
 Anyone have a better update?

EDIT:

Yes, this will be compatible with P2Pool by the 25th. Someone is working on modifications to p2pool to support masternode payments and they say they almost have it working.

I hope Evan can work in IP obfuscation, as Anonymint suggested. Then it would be hard to challenge DRK in any foreseeable way.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this what I2P does?

I like this idea, I think we could go open source much sooner while remaining the leading privacy-centric crypto.
All in due time. This will give people the option to make copies of DRK though.

Step 1: DRK opensources DarkSend etc.
Step 2: A clone of DRK appears.
Step 3: First remarks from posters on that thread: "So you are just a DRK clone... another shitcoin".
Step 4: Another clone of DRK appears.
Step 5: First remarks from posters on that thread: "Yet another DRK clone / yet another shitcoin".
Step 6: Another 20 clones of DRK appear
Step 7: Posters on their respective threads express their discomfort at the saturation of the shitcoin market with DRK clones, observing that if one wants to do it right, they should go with the original.

...something like that.

I think we are past the point in which shitcoins were launched every day and their value actually increased due to people buying in. Too much money was thrown away in shitcoins and many people started reconsidering their investment strategies. The point is that if you don't have something good you are dead on arrival. Fundamentals are starting to prevail on the market and people don't pay much attention to clone coins, country coins, meme coins, animal coins etc etc. PoS coins were on the rise after Blackcoin and this trend is also being curbed as the excitement factor is declining. The multiple fiascos of Whitecoin didn't help either.

Someone please re-assure my semi-noobness, but I expect a pre-complied linux is short to follow?

Ring signatures are going to be implemented in V2. I will begin development immediately after I opensource V1.

How do we compete against clones? Can they clone me? I work on this full time. In fact, I've only been at it four months. So far I've implemented DarkSend + X11 + DGW + Masternode payments. Plus, I've agreed to work on this project till at least Jan 2016 full time. So who on earth would invest in a clone?

Hi Evan, nice to see you come up for air, LOL Cheesy

Ring Signatures too? Dark is/will be the ultimate anonymous coin then..Ring Sigs plus Masternodes, that's perfect anonymity...

Ring Signatures is good decision.  Monero uses cryptonote protocol which implements ring signature technology for untraceable payments.  It's a much simpler solution to anonymity.

I hold both coins so I want to see both succeed.

People worrying about open-sourcing DarkSend should stop a minute and consider the whole OSS ecosystem.

Windows is for secretaries, marketing departments, and gamers. The other 99% of planet Earth's computing infrastructure runs linux. Which, as you may have heard, is open source.

We need to do it right. DRK already has marketshare, established (but evolving) infrastructure, and is real world tested. Clones and competitors are going to need divine intervention to come remotely close. And Evan has this little thing called a work ethic. Some of you will know or remember what that is.

Plus, we're all just too goddamn pretty to not win.  Kiss

Well there was an interesting exercise watching that flash crash after Evan's little "fright".

A lot of hands got shaken there. Talk about taking the pain quickly.

Also, people now know that if they dump below 55 it's just going to blow right up in their face, so that should shut all the fudsters up who've been saying it's over valued.

It clearly isn't (unless you want to argue with the market which quite a few on here do appear to want to do Smiley ).

So what exactly is the significance of the 55 mark?  or is this just a number you pulled out of your ass?

I hope Evan can work in IP obfuscation, as Anonymint suggested. Then it would be hard to challenge DRK in any foreseeable way.

I like this idea, I think we could go open source much sooner while remaining the leading privacy-centric crypto.

First we need a market to populate darkcoin and after open source.

The transparent market is the only shop in town so far. Everyone has to opt for their shop because ...it's the only one around. It's a monopoly with 100% marketshare for all transparent coins.

An anonymous coin breaks the 7bn transparent market by giving users a new choice: Anonymity and Privacy.

In terms of growth and decline potential, things are fairly straightforward. When you have 1 established shop with 100% marketshare and a new one comes with 0% marketshare, it can go only one way... the 100% will gravitate lower and the 0% will rise / grow. The growth potential from 0 to 1% to 5% to 10% is the market you are aiming for, and that market already exists and it will continue to grow as governments escalate their crackdown on transparent coins and as users become increasingly aware of how transparent their bitcoin transactions are.

Anonymous coins can even be a hedge to negative news of the type "oh they banned Bitcoin - again", in which case you have your primary investment (Bitcoin) fall and the hedge investment (Darkcoin) rise. The reason is that what is negative news for the transparent markets could be interpreted as positive news for the anonymous market which is not regulated or does not seek regulation.

So far, due to their close affinity, all coins behave more-or-less in the same direction when bad news hit Bitcoin. But this can change in the future and have similar effects in cryptocurrency valuation as there is in FOREX where, say, USD failures ensure EUR rising and vice versa.

The masternode payment fork has been postponed until May 25th due to
some issues on testnet over the last couple of weeks. A few issues
have cropped up and we want the code to be more thoroughly vetted
before turning it on for mainnet. This is expected to take less than a
week, but to ensure we have enough time we've chosen May 25th.

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/postponing-masternode-payments-till-may-25th.578/#post-3427

Does this mean that the blockchain will be completely fogged using the masternodes still starting Wednesday?  Or only on the 25th?  Thanks Evan.

It's actually pretty foggy now. RC3 is the next big improvement to anonymity

I get that it's pretty foggy now.  Excellent work and innovation so far!

So, is the masternode network(the current nodes that are set up right now) being used at all up until the 25th?  Or is the activation of the masternode network included in the implementation of the "masternode payments" due out on May 25th?
