Evan, will the next RC support Windows masternodes?
The current version does, you just need to use the debug window to start it up
- I created an empty wallet for the masternode, and encrypted it with "mypassword"
- sent 1000 DRK from another wallet to the masternode wallet's default address
- launched the masternode wallet
- went to debug window, typed: masternode start mypassword
- typed: masternode debug, and it says "Missing masternode input, try running masternode create"
- typed: masternode create, and it says "Not implemented yet"
Did I miss a step or should it work?

There is one crucial difference between the 2 coins.
Blackcoin is just a trading instrument with a multipool.
Darkcoin is something else, innovative, anonymous coin with real use and masternodes on top of it...
I won't be surprised seeing $5-10 floor in the next several weeks.

Well BC did shoot up 200x..
Whoever bought in at that level deserves to be bagholders.
Dark is something much more innovative IMO, even though I support BC too.

is there any downloadable DDOS protection software or is all service provided? i'm interested in setting up a master node but I only have Windows boxes...
There's no software you can run that will help with a DDOS attack. You require enterprise level hardware in place at the hosting end.
Look into cloudflare
would the Free plan be sufficient?
I have cloudflare... Don't see how it could help.
It reverse proxy the domain, not the IP...

About exchanges, I like Poloniex, it's a bit rickety but the support guys are there in the trollbox, they fix things when asked. Also used Mintpal (extensively

But I still would recommend everyone refrain from using Cryptsy, somehow they are allowing you to sell more than you have. And if someone figures out how they can manipulate it they can take a BUNCH of coins from them and then everyone is screwed.

So I sold 389 but I only had 361.
Imagine if it was BTC!!!
And while I was in chat there were multiple people there with same problem with alot of other coins, so its not a DRK problem.

Yes, Their reply was "You can deposit more coins to correct your balance."
then they banned me in chat. And no I didnt curse I did say "They Fraked me"
I still don't get it though. If you sold more than you had, didn't you get more BTC for your trade in return??
But I had to buy them back at 2x the price.
Im agine if it was BITCOIN and I oversold by 28BTC and "IF" I had kept them, that would have screwed everyone else using the exchange.
Now imagine it was 2800 BTC they let me over sell. I wont trade there anymore, I can see a Gox crash coming for them if they dont fix it. And it wasnt only me in chat complaining about it there were many people with all different coins.

yep, it's clear there's an organized pump happening...no wonder the dev sold some
Read before posting rubbish.
Kyle sold 389 (yes, whole 389!) several days ago, and now have to buy back 38 at higher price due to the cryptsy error.
It's not organized pump, finally people get wise about the coin, which is one of the very few which make sense and have value beyond trading.
Still good time to catch a train and get enough to setup masternode.
Traders will try to make money, but it's clear it's a bull market now and will be for while as more people get on.
$1.5 may seem like a gain, this is not much though. Dark was $1, and will be 10, 50 and 100 in months...
Organized pump would easily get it to 50-80 in a week (see Blackcoin).
Also, anyone thinking 40BTC is a proper wall is naive... there was 120BTC buy order for a several days week ago and no pump, just lazy people trying to get order filled in.
