Yah, but n00b did it about a week ago, not that having two choices is bad (actually it'd be super if both could be put up on the front page)  It's a bit more complex to do n00bs but it's really nice an he must have put some time into it for all of us, but his work got kind of buried in the thread.  maybe a direct link to the download?  After all, it should be done off line anyway Smiley

https://github.com/n00bsys0p/bitcoinpaperwallet/archive/darkcoin.zip

n00b, maybe we can host it somewhere, if it's ok with the licence, and add a bunch of fun covers, like for holidays, etc... for it?

It's already hosted here, for everyone's perusal - but as you say that is literally a reference copy - they should only ever be created entirely offline in a secure environment. As I've mentioned the codebase is fully checkable, and I deliberately didn't go to the stage of hacking around with the source to make it automatically select DRK, so the changes can be as transparent as possible. Thanks for your support :-)

Oh man, that sucks Sad  Did the guy lose interest or is he ignoring other alts?  BTW everyone, this is another paper wallet that n00b made, and it's pretty cool too:

https://github.com/n00bsys0p/bitcoinpaperwallet

I made a tutorial on how to use it here:

https://www.darkcointalk.org/threads/how-to-make-a-darkcoin-paper-wallet.116/

It's fancy and looks nice if you want to give a paper wallet away (like me to my nephews)

When I wrote that, I forgot to write in your tip account, I'm gonna put that in now Smiley

Thanks so much TS, that's awesome of you :-) And thanks for all your help to the community! I don't know if cantonbecker is ignoring other alts or is just on a break or what - last commits were about a month ago, so maybe just taking time to integrate, or leaving people time to make a good number of pull requests. The NXT pull has been ignored as yet too.

Why to say goodbye to Darkcoin
Darkcoin is a very potential coin, in the near future, its price will be like to take off like a rocket!
Good luck to you.
 Smiley Smiley

This is a well known troll in several threads, spreading fud just ignore him.
Recently he was trying to force people to sell off for cheap, as the price was suppose to drop to 0.0012 after the hike.

We can in a very low price to buy, and then sell when the price is high
Good grasp of market trends,

There's certainly increasingly fertile ground for DRK marketing as the block chain's privacy becomes a bigger part of the crypto conversation.

Bitcoin thought leader and security expert Andreas Antonopoulos got some of the strongest applause at this week's Coin Summit for his excellent, thoughtful, almost profound remarks about privacy and democracy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=rEtrIjzsceM#t=1018

He talks about developing solutions, but doesn't mention Darkcoin:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=rEtrIjzsceM#t=1452

When Darksend is ready, DRK should be showcased at summit's like this - people are either already (or soon will be) looking for the turnkey solution it offers.

Excellent highlights...

He seems to be a very thoughtful big-picture thinker. Key quote from the Andreas video about how, outside the US, this issue can literally be a matter of life and death:

"While we're trying to appease regulators in the US and give them identity tracking and full transparency of individual actions, regulators in Egypt are using that to drag people out of their homes and torture them - as they are doing in dozens of other countries around the world.

We need to be more aware that this is the global environment we live in. Individual privacy means freedom of association and expression. It's a cherished right - one we have to absolutely defend. We have to do it for the places where owning currency and using it as an empowering tool as an individual *gets you killed*."

This is about a lot more than masking Magic the Gathering online trading card purchases. Potential market for this is massively global.

That's why this coin will skyrocket once the DarkSend is implemented - real use for masses, not only trading/investment.

Major players are stocking up for the last week, both on the official twitter (we're talking several accounts with total tens of thousands of followers) as well as in the private groups.
Messages are "undervalued", "great future", "one to stay when the dust settles".

BorisTheSpider, hope this helps
Hello everyone,

I'm trying to understand this stratum exploit better, and something is confusing me.

The lowest difficulty is defined by the biggest target. So if we look at the nBits of the genesis block, we then convert to hex (from the compact representation) to get the diff 1 targets.

In BTC, genesis.nBits    = 0x1d00ffff;

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Difficulty suggests we convert to a hex representation like:

so the hex target is
0x00ffff * 2**(8*(0x1d - 3))
or
0000 0000 ffff 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000

Which matches https://github.com/Crypto-Expert/stratum-mining/blob/master/lib/template_registry.py where for sha256

diff1 = 0x00000000ffff0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Now looking at a scrypt coin, eg LTC:

0x1e0ffff0 is the genesis block nbits

so the hex target is

0x0ffff0 * 2**(8*(0x1e - 3))
or
0000 0fff f000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000

Which doesn't match stratum-mining

 if settings.COINDAEMON_ALGO == 'scrypt' or 'scrypt-jane':
            diff1 = 0x0000ffff00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

ie. the stratum-mining code has 4 leading zeros in the 64 byte hex representation of the target, wheras I get 5 leading zeros when doing the conversion from the compact to the full hex representation of the max difficulty.

I'm sure stratum-mining must be correct  - where am I going wrong?

Quote from pooler
Quote
Hi,

The definition of difficulty in Litecoin is exactly the same as in
Bitcoin, that is, it uses the minimum difficulty of Bitcoin, not of
Litecoin. Litecoin's minimum difficulty is just that, and plays no role in
difficulty/target conversions. That is one important thing to understand.

Then, there is the fact that (for historical reasons which still upset me
to this day, basically boiling down to cgminer not supporting non-integer
difficulties back in the day) in the Stratum protocol understood by LTC
miners the difficulty is multiplied by a factor of 65536 (2^16). So when
in sgminer you read diff 65536, that is actually diff 1. This should
answer your question.

Cheers,
pooler

Darksends look pretty cool in the new explorer:

http://chainz.cryptoid.info/drk/tx.dws?170313.htm
Indeed!

Each darksend adds more and more uncertainity as to the actual money paths. It seems that two mixings will be better than one, especially if the mixing node selection maximized uncertainity, eg. converge each nodes in/out to overall average. This would eliminate most of the knapsack attacks.

What do you think about being able to specify additional anonymity by requesting additional stages of mixing. The tradeoff is transaction cost/time vs anonymity level. This would eliminate most timing attacks.

James

Great idea. Actually, injecting an element of randomness in pooling finalisation time would make it really difficult for timing attacks. It'd be cool to have an option in the client to go "pitch dark" or something, where the transaction goes through multiple pooling steps with random pooling times. Although I'm not sure how multiple pooling steps would work in a decentralised implementation.

Problems with the official pool?

edit:

more detailed one.
http://drk.poolhash.org/x11hash.html

Official and Such got ddosed ?

Briefly attacked and InternetApe fixed it. Seems to be humming along now.

Showing lower hashrate is my fault.
It should be jumped up to normal hashrate, but I used wrong code.

Code:

  if official == None or ( official / float(official_prev) * 100 > 250 or official / float(official_prev) * 100 < 20 ):
     official = official_prev

I have chaged it to 1200.

Also graph is corrected.

The Future Of Work
A few all-around "optimizations":

First post:

(additions/alterations)

1) DarkSend progress report (V5)
2) The new block explorer
3) Change of description for 1.2c / SSE2 miner (the link is for 1.2c binary)
4) Extra link for version 1.3 AVX/AES binary (it can be found here) http://download.darkcoin.fr/darkCoin-cpuminer-1.3-avx-aes-windows-binaries.zip
5) GPU miner link: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-sph-sgminer-multi-coin-multi-algorithm-gpu-miner-added-marucoin-475795
+
6) Release date should return to a more normal font size (since it's not a pre-ann) and be something like "Released on x date / 0 premine". If emphasis on the premine aspect is needed, it's not necessary to capitalize the release (which is already past).

---

Darkcoin explorer:

+ Darkcoin explorer should write DRK instead of XCO
+ Darkcoin explorer should feature the new coin design

---

Source code for wallet:

+ https://github.com/evan82/darkcoin/blob/master/src/qt/res/icons/toolbar.png should be changed with new coin design

---

Website:

- Change description of 1.3 AVX/AES miner to 1.2 SSE2 miner (as the link points to 1.2)
- Add 1.3 miner binary
- Add sources for 1.3 miner
- Add sources for the GPU miner: https://github.com/prettyhatemachine/sph-sgminer
- Change link of darkcoin sgminer as it is the first incarnation and should be slower than the second one
- Change font of Darkcoin on the top (too fat - problematic aesthetics), then a snapshot of the website can be taken and replace the thread logo on the first post as well with a more pleasing version. Release information should also be toned town as it's two months back, not a pre-ann.

(links for miners are collected here: http://wiki.darkcoin.fr/index.php?title=Installer_Minage_CPU_Windows )

I know the guys are busy, but yes, these things need to be updated Smiley

just a thought, tesquenure, is the port for the pool? or is it the one you set in your config file?  It should be for the pool.

I cant explaine why, but i canl mine on Pp2pool.

you have R:100.0%, its normal ?

I didn't use other option, so I think R:100.0% is normal behaviour.

With my config, I got under 2% R.

Code:
--worksize 256 \
--thread-concurrency 8192 \
--gpu-threads 2 \
--gpu-engine 1040 \
--gpu-memclock 1500 \
--gpu-platform 0 \

--temp-cutoff 90 \
--shaders 2048 \
--lookup-gap 2 \
--intensity 13 \

Do i have to open port for p2pool, not need for normal pool.

No need open ports.

certainly a stupid question, sorry for that.

I can mine on pool with no issue.

I try now to put some of my miner on p2pool, different one for test.

But i cant mine on p2pool.

i try with all same setting.

I just change ./sgminer -k darkcoin -o http://IP-OF-THE-P2POOL:7903 -u MY-KEY -p x

what do i miss ?

Try this
./sgminer -k darkcoin -o stratum+tcp://IP-OF-THE-P2POOL:7903 -u wallet_address -p x

does its mean some p2pool have stratum some other not ?
I already try this, i do it again with issue.

[15:37:23] Press any key to exit, or sgminer will try again in 15s.
[15:37:23] No servers could be used! Exiting.

I have tested 14.201.112.110:7903, No error, 14.201.112.110:7903 is fine.

I think you have connection problem.

open http://14.201.112.110:7903/ with your browser.
If you can't, choose another from here http://drk.poolhash.org/

I try  3 other, same result, do you mean than network connection is more sensitive with p2pool than with normale pool ?

Because i dont have problem on pool, some R: but less than 0.3%

Can you open 3 other with your browser, see stat page ?
Then should have no problem.
